I suppose it depends on what context it is used in. I think it's better to not get involved with things that could hurt other peoples feelings.

Lexi, is correct. It would depend on the contest of the post and how it was done. But I usually tell people if you think there might be a problem with a post then it's better not to post.

For example, if Person A requested 100 hybrids and 1 mil for a painting, then Person B calls them greedy and that nobody would pay that much, is it banned to do so?

It would depend on the circumstances but right off the top of my head I would say that could be kinda insulting. It's an old saying but usually true: If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything. If you have seen this occur, you could turn in a ticket and the Mods would look at all the circumstances surrounding it and decide what's to be done.

It would also probably depend on how the line was delivered. "That sounds a bit greedy" is obviously a lot better than "You are a disgustingly greedy person."

I have to agree with Jarikira on this. If you don't have anything good to say, it's best to say nothing at all. Even if you meant something as a joke, it may very well still hurt someone else's feelings. That's why we have rule infractions like L0 Trolling and L0 Flaming. If it can be experienced as insulting or attacking, it is not allowed to be posted here on ACC.

In my experience, L0 flaming notifications are typically only issued if the post is reported. Mods don't waste their time looking for something to take offense to; I mean, we're on ACC not Tumblr. Some users are easily offended though, so it is best to avoid posting potentially insulting remarks.

Regardless of the context, I think there are better ways to react if a situation like this was to arise.

I don't think the use of "greedy" is particularly necessary. For example, if someone was giving away a large quantity of New Leaf items to people and one person wants to take them all of them, a more suitable response would be: "Please can you allow some of the other members to get some items too, instead of taking them all?". Using the word "greedy" could lead to an argument, whereas saying something like this would almost certainly avoid conflict and hopefully resolve the problem. However, different people react and deal with things in different ways, so this solution might not always be feasible.

Like others have said, it's probably best to avoid saying anything, such as "greedy", in the first place, since it won't achieve anything and it's more likely to make the situation worse.

Although we don't always have time to do so, the public boards are monitored and read by the Modmin team, even if we don't reply to a thread. If we see a violation we feel is clearly in violation of any rule, whichever level, it will be dealt with manually if the post had not yet been reported by anyone. If a Modmin comes across a L0 Trolling or a L0 Flaming post, even when it's not reported, it will be dealt with. If the Modmin is in doubt whether or not a Notification is warranted, we would generally consult with the other Modmins first.

Aren't L0 flaming and trolling situations on more of a blurred line and generally not clear violation of the rules? If the situation is a clear violation of the rules then it is typically an L1 violation.

I would just avoid trading with someone I viewed as greedy.

Sometimes someone might value one item or villager for quite a lot of bells, but in other threads they give people gifts & give items away.

If you see someone who does things that are greedy like ask for people for more bells on an item, but then offer very little to others in return when making their own offers----
this is a greedy thing that often happens, but it's just best not to trade with a person like that or reply to them because they would just get angry & not be the type of person to response well to those kind of criticisms.

Also a greedy person might not be very mature, and they would just get into a flame war with you.

On the other hand a "greedy" person may simply be someone short on bells & trying to sell things to people with lots of bells.

You just wouldn't know without reading a few of their posts, and if they are repeatedly greedy, just avoid.
