So I finally caved and bought a 2DS (since I never use the 3D function on my current 3DS XL) so I could download a second version of ACNL. The only problem is the screen on the 2DS is too small for my aging eyes and gives me a headache every time I play. If I buy a second 3DS XL, is it possible to transfer my new town to the new, bigger console? I'm not super savvy about this stuff, but am hoping it's just a matter of removing the SD card from the 2DS and inserting it into the new 3DS XL...or is it more complicated than that? I've already put a lot of work into the new town on the 2DS and it would be a bummer to lose it. Thank you in advance!

Well... I think the only way to transfer data is to completely overwrite the New 3ds you will buy with the 2ds's system memory. All you would need is the 2ds, the target new 3ds xl, and a stable wifi connection. It unfortunately is not a matter of moving SD cards around, as a different 3ds wouldn't read it.
If it was a physical copy of the game, you could just play the game off of your new 3ds without transferring anything lol.

Since obviously your new 3ds XL will be at its factory settings, you wouldn't lose anything. HOWEVER, once you transfer everything from your 2ds to your 3ds XL, your 2ds will format everything on it and it will return to factory settings. You can then sell it or... just use it as an extra I suppose.

Don't worry about it too much, I've done the transferring a few times and so long as you follow the instructions it all goes pretty smoothly
