My husband just called me at work. The conversation went like this:
Him: You're going to have a really hard time dealing with what I'm about to say. Me: OMG what happened? (My thoughts immediately went to my 98 year old grandpa.) Him: Don't be mad... Me: OMG WHAT HAPPENED?! Him: Benburgh has been wiped off the map. Me: *stunned silence*
Apparently, my 5 year old wanted to start a new character and accidentally chose the delete data option. 5 year old was crying inconsolably and told me he's more upset than I am because he put way more work into the town than I did. LOL! He's so cute and sweet but I'm bummed that after 2 years I have to start over. I was only 1 fish and 2 bugs away from museum completion!

Oh noes, many sympathies .. hopefully you can try to look at it as a good opportunity to start again and have an even better town! Although things might be a bit too raw to be looking at the bright side yet
Let us know if you have need of something, I'm sure plenty of us can help out if you find you need stuff that you can't find as you restart
Vix, let me know if you need anything!! You know I have lots of items in the goodwill storage just for this! As for hybrids feel free to take from GWGardens or leave us a list on the gw pt I am positive our members can get you whatever you want!! Let me know if you need me to open any town for you to catalog if it isn't the correct day.
As for your critters and fish, I restarted last month and I am only 3 bugs and 1 diving creature away from completing mine. I can TT any goodwill town you need to go catch them, except for the dung beetle because snowballs disappear when gates are open.
Just get with me if you need any of these done!
Think of it as not A loss but a new Begining. If you have any Dreamies you want back make a list and I am sure we can keep an eye out for them for you.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear it. I learned from my step kids, years ago, that I do not share games well, especially with children. My daughter got her own copy of the game & a (used) 3DS for her birthday, as a result.
Good luck with your new town!

Time travel, don't time travel - it's your game, play AC however you want!
Thanks everyone! I ended up with a great map on the first try so that took the sting off a little. I had been considering getting him his own game but his character was so built up I didn't want to make him start over! I think what I'm mourning the most is my savings in bells and my being so close to museum completion. Oh, and the fact that it takes an eternity to build up Main Street!
Tressawolf, I'm going to PT you.

woah..... The game helps me deal with the ups & downs of my life, so you are taking this much better than I would!
Amazed at all the people willing to help out.
One thing I would say is seeing you are starting again---make sure to make paths before planting lots of trees.
The best thing about this is you can plan your town a lot better now, and have an awesome lay out from the beginning. You can also plan where your fruit trees will go so you don't end up chopping them down later like I ended up doing just to make clear paths.
You have also built up 60+ positive wi-fi feedback in your years here, so at least you can wi-fi easily with people & your reputation as a nice player can never be deleted!
I agree building up the Museum is my favourite part. I only have 1 painting in there, but finished the fossils. Still working on the rest.
You can give your house a new look & with all your wi-fi friends you can turnip trade with many people & build yourself up.
Good luck! *Ozzie hugs* (he's a fluffy Koala and he'd give you a big hug!)
Vix for in the future, If you buy a second game and have a second 3ds, he can just "move" his character to another town (new game). Perhaps a special birthday present for him this year?
This reminds me of stories of my older brother who constantly deleted my dad's save files for no real reason when he was little. Even things he didn't play like Resident Evil he would still go on it and delete his save file. My poor father.

I so agree about pass wording deletes! Though I suppose that would be impractical with people forgetting passwords all the time. But there must be some extra step that could keep our wee (and not so wee) ones from deleting stuff on us (and themselves).
Maybe a secondary backup option?

I know that feel, my little cousin got her hands on my ds with fire emblem 03' few years back and wiped all three files. Well apparently. They were wiped not restarted, so it may have been one of the older ones trying to cause trouble... but probably she took game out while it was on and corrupted the data Plus I corrupted my original acww town with too much animal map editor tool...

People don't think the universe be like it is; but it do.
It's devastating losing a town you are happy with it and so far advanced in the game. I lost 2 of my City Folk towns not due to deletion, but to Wii failure! I like that in NL everything is saved to the game card. Too bad they didn't think of that for the Wii.
Feel free to message me if you need some bells or any re-orderable items. I have over 100 million bells between my 3 towns. I saved up to get the ATM, then started the process of moving them to get the ATM in my other towns but gave up part way through the moving process.

vix920 Do you need any bells? or items that you want that are reorderable on the catalog whether DLC or regular? any particular tools? fruits? I'll be more than happy to help out.
Thanks for the offers to help, everyone! I'm slowly but surely plugging away at paying things off - I have to pay off the little Townzilla's house along with my own! - but so far, it's nothing that a nightly trip to the island can't handle.
I'd love to have some visitors, though, to work on those badges.
And as always, if anyone has my dearest darling BFF Elmer that I can steal away to my town, I'd be forever grateful.
