**I mentioned this in another post about improvements I want in the game, so please excuse the copy and paste of a lot of text regarding communication. I've been wanting more dialogue and word recognition since the Gamecube release. Seeing the game is part friendship/relationship simulation it lags behind other games like Rune Factory or other life/friendship/simulation games where there seems to be more concrete ways of developing friendships and conversation trees.Even the wordless interactions in the sims seem to be more solid. But then again The Sims lacks the humour and quirky conversations that open up with the villagers---but the interaction options are more varied. I just wish the would be a little less repetitive, and stop commenting on how many times you talk to them during the day---I think that's silly as in a normal conversation you may talk for a while without someone having to start the conversation from scratch at every paragraph. I do love how they say more as you get to know them--grumpy villager Wart J is an excellent example of this. Many people complain about him in some forums and other grumpies as having a bad attitude, however as I got to know him he is one of my best friends in town---he is caring and sweet towards my character! I'm not sure if this should be done point & click style--with more response options and conversations trees, or something more real-time like the sims.... or even something as cool as really intelligent A.I. with built in dictionaries like a simple version of a pandora bot! (maybe possible for a console version?)but all I know is the limitations and the constant re-starting of interactions can take you out of the moment. The style of conversation shouldn't be changed. The quirky jokes and weird comments are most of what I love about the game. The characters are often very cute. The LETTER WRITING system is even more of a concern, seeing you need to write letters most days, and in the older games villagers expected you to write to them as part of the tasks you could do.
I think they could at least understand key words, or references to other animals or items.
The communication systems are 1/3 of the game as it is all about your friendships with the animals. What does everyone else think?
