I just took CF out of its case and its so fun! CF is the latest AC game out there that's on a console, so maybe you should play that until a new AC game gets announced.

I really dislike the whole portable vs. console arguments, because no matter what, it's all subjective and it's all opinion.  But the fact is, some people only play any games on consoles, some play only on handhelds, and some play on both.  So anyone who argues that any franchise should only be on handhelds/consoles, is basically saying the other half have no right to said franchise, and that is incredibly selfish IMO.

With AC specifically, to date, the core games have been every other (console, then portable, then console, then portable), and IMO, that is how it should stay.  If you don't play games on consoles, then you'll just have to wait, just like the people who don't play handhelds had to wait.

IMO, it's not too late for a Wii U release.  Even if the NX DOES replace the Wii U, so what?  If Nintendo can release a good version of the game, then why not?  And look what Sony did with LittleBigPlanet 3; even though the PS4 was out, they still put LBP3 on both systems.  If the NX IS meant to replace the Wii U and is due out soon, release it on both systems.

All this said, if Nintendo plans the next console release to be a carbon copy of New Leaf, then they can just skip it IMO.

Personally, I'd like to see a kind of hybrid version of AC; one that is released on both consoles and handhelds and can have true cross gameplay of some kind...

^ I just said that I could see it on handhelds, not that it should be on handhelds

If I said it should be on handhelds then who knows me I was prob. half asleep or something

I wasn't responding to anyone specifically.  I've just seen that argument over and over again.  It has been beaten to death IMO.

One of the biggest arguments for handhelds over consoles is that those not willing to mess with the clock will miss important events on a console.  Well, I missed my own birthday this year on NL!!  I was busy that day, doing stuff for my birthday, so I not only didn't have time, I honestly didn't even think about video games all day.

I am willing to mess with my clock, because come on, it's a video game, not a math test.  But this year it didn't even occur to me until I loaded the game up the next day, and it was my mail that reminded me.  By that time, I had already loaded the game, so backing the clock up at that point would have been potentially damaging (you sometimes don't know if a townie is getting ready to move until it's too late).

And it's not like you can tell your boss when you go to work, "Sorry, I can't do that right now.  I have an appointment with Buck and I can't miss it!  You're going to have to do that yourself..."

Its not that, its that CF was a better game than NL in my opinion.

DistantWords is so right about that last sentence.

When you become an adult this is the time where you can't not go to work because of... "oh yeah Canberra was supposed to come to my house can I take the day off?" or "I was gonna give a fruit to Moe and my orange crop just became ripe! I NEED this day off!"

If you do that you're gonna lose your job.

I'm not an adult yet so I must live my childhood first and play CF until AC U gets announced.

I really don't get why you guys are saying it's "too late" for a Wii U Animal Crossing... The Wii U has only been out for a bit over two-and-a-half years or so...

I think it's totally probable, if not likely, that there will be a full Animal Crossing game for the Wii U. There has been one for every system since Gamecube (or N64 in Japan), and just because the Wii U hasn't been amazingly successful, I don't think that's going to stop Nintendo from making one. The 3DS didn't do super well in the beginning, but in the past couple years it's done really well. I think the same could happen for the Wii U.

^ That's great to hear!
I keep hearing opinions about how it probably won't come out and that makes me sad. If it's announced next year, I'm going to be beyond happy

Ahh such a long wait. Hopefully it'll be worth it though.
But atleast we have Happy Home Designer to keep us going, which is looking better and better everytime I find out new information about it! And who knows, maybe even amiibo festival will be good... no. that's going to far, I doubt it.

Just for the fun of it, I'd like to give my proposal for the next Animal Crossing game which I think needs to be on the Wii U (or a system just as capable, if not more powerful).  This is going to be long, so please bare with me, and allow your imagination to flow free.

So in New Leaf, you got to become Mayor.  In AC Wii U, you'll get to become Governor (or some other government position that is effectively the same), and your first job as Governor will be to build, from scratch, your Capital City.  On your first day, you will be given a blank slate on the GamePad and you get to build your city by laying down land tiles and placing buildings in locations that can support them.

The game will assist you by auto selecting land tiles that can connect to the tiles you place.  For example, if you put down a 3rd tier tile (yes, I'm going back to 3 tiers from the GameCube), then the game will only allow 3rd tier tiles, or 2nd/3rd transition tiles, to be placed around it.  You can have the upper right corner be a 3rd tier tile, and go from right to left to a 2nd tier and then to a 1st tier.  You can literally create your own town as long as the tiles are allowed to connect to each other!

There will be a list on screen telling you the buildings you MUST lay down, and any other land requirements for future buildings/events/whatever, and you cannot move on until you have fulfilled that requirement.  You also get to place down 15 townie homes, because you'll have up to 15 townies at a time!

You place the townie buildings where they will go for all time.  If someone moves out of a house, the house becomes boarded up with a "For Sale" sign.  The day before a new townie takes over, the "For Sale" sign gets a "SOLD" banner across it.

Don't want to spend time creating your Capital City from scratch?  No problem, there will be an "Auto Generate" button!  Don't like what was auto generated?  Press it again!  Was it almost there this time, but not quite?  Press the "Edit" button, make your final tweaks, and as long as you still fulfill the requirements, you get to move on!

Your early goals will of course be to build up your Capital City and get it to grow.  As you achieve specific goals and milestones (like getting Perfect Town, for example), you are rewarded by gaining up to 5 "Sister Cities".  What is a "Sister City"?  I'm glad you asked!!

A "Sister City" is basically a smaller, yet full town you get to over see and visit anytime you want.  But you can only get a "Sister City" when you have had enough townies in your own time, past OR present, to fully staff it.   What's that mean, you ask?  Well, a City/Town will need it's own Mayor, someone to run it's museum, someone to run it's shops, and so forth.  YOU get to assign all of those positions based on townies that currently live in your town, or once lived in your town!

Did your favorite townie already move away?  No problem!  You can now hire them to be Mayor of your "Sister City"!!

Your Sister Cities will grow just like your own Capital City, but they will grow based on who you have in charge.  Is Buck not quite doing enough as Mayor?  Well, you can go in and help out anytime you want!  You ARE Governor after all...

You can visit the staff anytime you want (as long as they are awake), and you can visit it's residents.  Build up a relationship with your Sister City's residents, and you can ask them to move to your Capital, OR invite them to live and work in another Sister City (as long as it's a new City).

Well, wait... Then who is Mayor of the Capital City?  Isabelle of course!

Do you have New Leaf?  Guess what?  You can choose to import your FULL New Leaf town as one of your Sister Cities once you are able to get one!  (You will have to re-staff it though, since New Leaf's town is currently being run by animals that are already working in your Capital)

So that is a basic (and trust me, I do mean basic) outline for what I personally would like to see for the next Animal Crossing game.

^ dang.

I would choose O'Hare to be the mayor of the sister city, and then he will take over it, making all of the residents wear the blue aloha shirt, make them all say "amigo", maybe even teach them Spanish while we're at it?

My imagination is wild

"The 3DS didn't do super well in the beginning, but in the past couple years it's done really well. I think the same could happen for the Wii U."

It can't, don't you know that the 3DS was only like that for a few months until late 2011, and it only has one extremely failing competitor, plus its a completely different system, a handheld at that, which has NEVER failed ( badly ) for Nintendo. I'm not even sure if the Wii U has sold more than the gamecube, the Wii U has only started to catch up to the XBOX ONE.

But what's your point? Just because the Wii U hasn't done as well as Nintendo's other consoles thus far, doesn't mean Nintendo is just going to give up on it. I think one of the biggest reasons why it hasn't done that well thus far is because there just aren't enough interesting games out for it to be worth purchasing for a lot of people.

If anything, I think releasing an Animal Crossing and other widely loved games for the Wii U could be a priority to Nintendo in order to get more people interested in it.

I'm excited for HHD, but I'm not sure I'll buy AF unless there's a demo and I find it fun. The "you need amiibo" thing is annoying since, like all amiibo, they'll probably be rare.

I think Nintendo will give us AC U at next year's E3. I can't remember if they said the NX is coming outin 2016 or not, but if so, they might skip AC U entirely and go straight to the NX.

I'd be very displeased with that.

Well since Nintendo basically admitted that the only reason they're making AF  simply because they want Amiibos, that encourages me to believe that they will be releasing a Wii U version sooner than later.

WW times and even at the start of CF there wasn't actually a huge market as far as players for the series went.  Yes, ACC was extremely popular during WW era and that does account for something- but there are many more people now including more people working at Nintendo now that are interested in seeing the AC franchise advance.

The Wii U really hasn't been out that long.  Not that the Virtual Boy lasted long either, but Nintendo is still producing a lot of good content for Wii U.  With Amiibos helping pick up the slack in sales I'm sure they feel confident they have a good enough gimmick (as much as I do love Amiibos) going on to sustain finances for a little while.
