Okay, I know a lot of people are dissapointed with the Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival game.. but I think two new AC games in one year is something to be happy about! It shows Nintendo is finally realizing that AC is a good seller and needs more merch ect. brought to the West.

As far as announcements for a Wii U version go, I figured we wouldn't get it announced here before anywhere else.  If it's announced anywhere anytime soon it'll be announced in Japan first.  Unfortunantly we just don't have a big enough audience in the West to be the first to hear about it.

We have a lot to look forward to this coming year with Happy Home Designer and even Amiibo Festival.

Are you all excited about the two new games anyway?  What do you all think about next year for a release announcement of AC for Wii U?

I still have my doubts about HHD given that I don't think we can have our own houses, catch bugs/fish or anything.. but I'm still excited for it.   Let's hope we can all get many of the new Amiibos, cards, and have a blast with the new games!

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't want an Animal Crossing on the Wii U...
For starters, the next Nintendo console has already been announced, if there was going to be a new game, it wouldn't be on an old console, they would want to sell the new one. On a console, we would get no local co-op (my favourite part of the game), no streetpass, etc. Animal Crossing isn't exactly the type of game I want to sit down in front of a television to play, I love being able to take it to conventions, the mall, wherever. I just don't think a Animal Crossing game on a console (especially Wii U) would make any sense, for the business or the fans.

When you look at it, a lot of games haven't debuted on the Wii U that you think should such as Paper Mario and Animal Crossing for example.

Although I sort of wish for a Wii U installment, it seems as if an NX release is more probable. But hey! Wii and Wii U were 5 years apart I believe so NX could be 2017(but I think it's 2016, I don't know)

I am very excited for HHD because I saw a Japanese translated video(if you want I'll link it) and you can design a school, hotel, hospital, shops, department store, etc. and give the animals jobs!

I'd love to be able to own a house but I'll have to wait and see. Seeing the rugs, carpets, and ceiling items like fans, I think this says what we will see in a next AC installment!

Amiibo festival isn't insanely horrible, it's just not what most were hoping for. Amiibo games only are not the right direction to make people buy amiibo...but then again the game is free!

We don't even know what Nintendo's "NX" actually is yet.  Nintendo has said a few times that the "NX" is NOT meant to replace Wii U or 3DS.  It's most likely going to be something unique and on it's own level.

I do appreciate that some people don't care for AC on consoles, but others do.  Why deny others just because of your own personal preference?  And for me personally, AC on a console provides the best online experience because I can use a USB keyboard.  I HATE playing New Leaf online because I spend all my time peck typing messages and I never get to actually "play" online.

As much as I disliked City Folk, it had the best online experience yet with voice chat as well as a USB keyboard.  I always had a blast online in CF, but NL has been a chore to play online.

New Leaf and City Folk both have their pros and cons.

New Leaf's gameplay experience is a pro as it's (wrote their for some reason) WiFi is a con.

City Folk is the complete vice versa

Distantwords, that's exactly why I prefer local co-op, don't have to buy accessories that have a chance to fail. I hate typing, I'd rather just speak to the person next to me

Local co-op is great if you have people near you to play with.  But not everyone does.  And it doesn't help with playing with others from different countries where you get to pick up localized holiday items.

"don't have to buy accessories that have a chance to fail."
What do you mean by that?  A keyboard?  I already have quite a few USB keyboards, which have never once failed...

It totally depends on the brand.

I got a Logitech (I think ) and another bargain brand and the Logitech worked like a charm while the other failed once I pressed two keys... I tried re-plugging it and a bunch of other stuff and it didn't work

Honestly I don't think the NX will be out that soon.  Every business has to start innovating their next gen products as soon as (if not before) the current one is released- or they'd be way behind the times.  The only difference is Sony and Microsoft won't announce there's until a better time.  I have no idea why Nintendo would announce a next gen system so soon after the release of Wii U, but of course they're working on it!

I agree though that streetpass and multi-player are key parts of AC.  I love streetpass features and do feel like console games are somewhat lacking because of the inability to be easily played with others, but I still enjoy playing them.  I know console games aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I still think it will sell really well.  IMO more Animal Crossing is never a bad thing.

I think it will be announced at E3 2016 next year.  They usually announce a main series game a few years after another.  There have been rumors about it for a while.  I am pretty certain it will be announced next year

That's what I was thinking. There's no way this is getting announced in '15.

That's true.  I'm thinking it'll be announced in Japan next year, released there in spring or fall and brought to the U.S. in late 2017.

Honestly, it's too late for an AC on Wii U.

Ryan is so right about this, in my opinion. The wait between the 1st animal crossing game and the second game, WW, was 4 and a half years. The wait between WW and CF was 3 years. The wait between CF and NL was 4 years to 4 and a half years, depending on weather you are talking about NL's Japanese release or the North American release. The Wii U has failed so much that I can't find Nintendo working on a brand new AC unless its a "rehash" like CF was to WW.

Woah, you sorta agree with me?

I don't know if Nintendo would keep their promise of the NX not being a Wii U replacement, considering how the DS replaced the GBA despite it originally not going to. If the NX does end up replacing the Wii U, then we will just have to wait for AC NX. Or maybe Nintendo will put AC only on handhelds from now on since NL was a success partly because it was portable.

^ Yeah, I sorta agree with you! (that hasn't happened very recently)

Yeah, Keeby, I could totally see AC only on handhelds, to me, personally, that was one reason I liked NL and WW so much, because I could just go anywhere and play it as long as I had a charger to plug it in when it was about to die.

I even liked Animal Island (even though it wasn't even a full game) quite a bit because it was on the GBA, (plus pixely O'Hare is just... askfasdf)

I just like portable ACs.

To me, portable AC games aren't the full experience, but are still fun. Then again, I haven't played AC GCN since spring and I haven't gotten CF out of its case yet. If AC U isn't like NL, then to me it will be like a full experience, most likely.
