According to today's Nintendo Digital Event for E3, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer will be released on September 25, 2015. A bit more gameplay shown. Some of what I noticed:
*Your character will be working for Tom Nook (again).
*Lyle has a niece, Lottie, who is part of the Happy Home crew as well as Isabelle's brother Digby. Lottie is apparently the efficient "Isabelle" of the Happy Home office. She is your daily go-to person--not Tom Nook.
*Looks like there will be at least one additional skin color choice for your character--a good sign for the next future full Animal Crossing game!
*You can bring your own ACNL villagers into the game.
*You will be working in a different town--not your ACNL town--and you are not acting as the mayor. However it looks like you will be acting as much like a city planner as you do as the ACNL mayor.
*Several animals can be seen shopping at the same store, not just 2.
*You get a company car! (Although I doubt the game will show you driving around much).
No new new info yet on the amiibo card gameplay, but it all looks very cute. To be honest I don't know if I will be getting this game when it comes out but I will definitely consider it.
UPDATE: The live E3 Nintendo Treehouse has shown some more gameplay footage, so check the Nintendo YouTube channel later and hopefully they will upload a clip of that coverage.

To get a better look at the game, Nintendo has now uploaded the first day of their Nintendo Treehouse Live (8+ hours). Animal Crossing Happy Home Designers is shown at the 2:50:00 point. Hopefully they will later have a separate cut of the presentation.

I just finished watching it...it looks fun! Although it looks like it isn't like open-world like New Leaf is, but I think that's how the game is played. It definitely sounds a lot more interesting than the initial reveal a couple months ago!

I just watched the trailer and I think I may buy the game when it comes out. (Okay, I almost definitely will be.) I mainly enjoy the games for decorating anyway. But I'm kinda iffy about the amiibo cards. I hated trading millions of bells for villagers and furniture pieces, but I think I'll enjoy spending real money less. ): But if we can bring our own villagers into the game, that'll be nice. I have lots of my favorite villagers already.
I may be incorrect in my first post above about being able to bringing in your actual villagers from ACNL, so I apologize if that was wrong. Did anyone else get the same feeling, and is there new info about this?

^^ From what I saw, you can bring in a villager with that villager's amiibo card.
So you could take a Chief amiibo card, place it on the NFC screen, and then that villager will appear in the town. And from there, I believe you can move them in.

Yes, the villagers are represented by the amiibo cards. What I originally thought was that if you have New Leaf, you could bring in your villagers from that game into HHD. But ultimately I guess it wouldn't make sense since HHD is in a different town and you're playing a different character.

I'm in the middle of the video and it seems like you can upload your house to the HHN (Happy Home Network) for players worldwide to see your style and set-up of the house! Very neat!
I like the new ideas they have in this game but I hope they keep the core of the game like the first three intact. Can't wait to see what this might open up for AC in the future.
But its more expensive than the XL version and your forced to get it with HHD, so I'm not getting it because it isn't any cheaper than the other one despite it being SMALLER.

^ Probably the only reason it's more expensive is because not only does it come with HHD, but it also comes with 2 additional face plates and an amiibo card. Although the amiibo card probably wouldn't have had much more than a dollar or two.

But I don't want the face plates. Like, at all. The amiibo card would actually be my first amiibo in any shape or form. HHD, eh, I might get it. But why'd they have to make the system only available via that bundle?

I'm sure they'll probably offer regular new 3DS bundles, with JUST the system. Not sure when though. I'd assume the ones that wouldn't come with anything would be between $150-175, probably closer to the $175 range though but who knows. I'm not very good with pricing lol.
