Me too, I joined over 2 years after NL's release, so the HHD hype is so interesting to see.

I hope it goes as well as it has for the other games in the past you guys! As people found out different things and "tricks" they would come on site and tell everyone else - it was a lot of fun. Hopefully it will happen again. I don't see this game as being as popular as the ones in the past, being a spin-off and all, but I hope it will give the site something new to talk about.

I'm really looking forward to the whole "yard" thing and what will be available. I've seen pools, fences, plants etc. I'm wondering what else!

I actually started actively using the forums earlier than you did.

Certainly theres not going to be much HHD hype because ACC is sort of inactive, but I bet the game is still very fun.

Ok so I was just on Amazon and found this info....

If you buy the bundle that has the game, card reader, and card(s)... You only get 1 card. The cards are in no way essential to playing the game. They are for inviting over to house and for getting villagers that you may not find in the normal game play... From what I've watched in the videos of the game play, a lot of the NL villagers are in the normal game play.

So my opinion is to start with JUST the game. Then if you decide you want to start collecting cards, get a pack of cards and the scanner. I wouldn't invest the money into the card reader right away..

Well I'm getting a New 3DS for Christmas so I don't have to worry about the card reader anyway.

I want Eugene really badly since hes a series 1 card.

There was an announcement from Nintendo a few weeks after the release in Japan. They had made as many Series 1 cards as they thought they would need in Japan and had already started printing the Series 2 cards. The game and the cards wnet over so well that they were suspending production of the Series 2 cards, to make many more Series 1 cards.

Hopefully they learned their lesson and printed enough Series 1 cards for the US, Europe etc.

I certainly hope so because I'm a collector at heart and I want amiibo cards.

I'm for one really excited for this game to come out, but unfortunately, I have to wait till Christmas. I'm probably just going to play with the villagers already in the game. I kinda dislike the thought of collecting cards. Wastes too much money.

The whole card thing will depend on how collecting them goes for me in the beginning. I've already pre-ordered the scanner and will buy a couple of packs when I go to pick it up. If I get a decent selection from those, I will probably get more. But if I get the same cards over and over frequently I will be more reluctant to keep shelling out money.

I know this is a little off-topic, but is the scanner this game "comes" with the Amiibo scanner? Or is it a different thing? I don't have any Amiibos, and you guys keep mentioning "cards" but I know Amiibos are little standee things. So, if I invest in the GameStop pack with the scanner and card(s?), is that scanner usable with the Amiibos? Will we ever get the Series 1 cards? I can't seem to find any straight info. I jumped on the Amiibo bandwagon late; I have Smash and all that but I don't even know how Amiibos would work with the 3DS (which I have the latest of, if it helps any).

The amiibo that are coming out with this game are not figurines but cards.

If you have a "New" 3Ds, it will read the cards on it's own. I have the older 3DSXLs - AC and Zelda so I will need the scanner to read the cards.

The cards are not required to play the game. They are used to insert that particular villager into the game. From what Nintendo has said, we will only get the Series 1 cards on release in the US and Europe, Series 2 will be later.

So I should just pre-order the game-only package? What about Amiibos themselves - will my DS be able to read those without a scanner?

Yes, if you have the New 3DS you will only need the game. The cards come in packs like baseball cards.

I don't know about amiibo figurines for the 3DS.

Jari, I hope some of us who have know each other for awhile might be willing to trade cards to complete our collection. Maybe some of us could do it through private messaging. It won't cost more than a stamp to send a few cards to each other.

I'm still gonna get it, despite not playing much. A full-fledged AC game is too much of a workout. So basically that plus my signature.


I think a nice spin-off will be fine. It's what I really need to play AC for a while. NL is just becoming boring, and I don't really play the others much.


I'm playing basically, lighter games. Ones that I don't have to control everything. Islanders on Tomodachi Life leave at your own discretion. They don't automatically go after a while. HHD isn't where you have to fulfill the needs of every villager. It's where you DESIGN HOUSES. Like the promo said, without chores. I don't want my games to be a chore.

And before you say TL has chores they are very easy and don't turn into hours of work for ONE FLIPPIN VILLAGER.

HHD sounds like the perfect little idea, especially for those that love the design aspect of AC. I know I always wanted to get into it but never had the patience to either collect all the furniture of a series or whatever. I ended up using giveaways. I'm curious to see how this game will function since it's built around the concept of home design.

Yeah, since it's one aspect of the game instead of all of that weight on your shoulders, that's what's selling it for me. Since I don't really have to follow the responsibility of a mayor, it sounds like a good thing to play for someone like me who doesn't like the pressure of a full-fledged GAME. I was saying this in a PT, and I also said this like two posts ago- I don't want my gaming experience to be a chore, so something with short, easy chores like Tomodachi Life, or fun things to help the villagers, like HHD, would be good for me. Home design sounds one hundred times better than trying my hardest to get a fish or bug for one of my villagers. Especially when the villager asks for a bug/fish that's out of time, like asking for a Coelacanth at 12 PM. Or when it's not raining. Chores in NL can take HOURS.


TL;DR: Basically I want to actually have fun helping the villagers. I don't wanna feel pressured to do it.

Yeah. I'm basically becoming you, only that you hated NL way before me, and that I don't really hate it- it just gets boring after 15 minutes of gameplay.

I've gotten the urge to punch Carmen in the face multiple times last night. JUST TELL ME IF ANYONE'S MOVING OR NOT! Geez.

After around 30 minutes of pure monotony, I just get super exhausted. I can't take anymore NL. I am just begging to know if someone is moving so I can stop them and go back to play Tomodachi Life.
