OMG YOU GUYS! Gem Harvest has been revealed to be a half hour special courtesy of info from NYCC!

Most likely it will fall in line with the rumour it'll air around Thanksgiving.

What did you guys all think of Gem Harvest? Apparently it was a pretty divisive episode amongst fans, but personally I really enjoyed it!

As always, even when Steven Universe returns to a tired trope, the audacity which with they pepper the filter always remains a stand out. I wasn't too blown away by the narrative, but as far as world building goes it was pretty amazing to see the show start pouring water into the human bucket side of the Steven scale.

We've always gotten little tidbits about Greg's family and his relationship with them, and from what little we got it was obvious there was tension there. His decision to pursue a slapdash rock career with an obviously fake name was proof enough for me, so Andy's connection (and the baggage that came with it) lacked the drama and weight that should've come with such a reveal. As I said before though, it was more the boldness that brayed at the edges here that made this episode a standout.

The Gem's wedding cake, Andy's particular outburst at the Gem's alien status among other key phrases really sold the larger subtext at play here, so I can forgive a lacklustre conflict swathed in a by the numbers family theme overall.

There was a lot of discourse regarding the latest episode. Speaking as a grandchild of Cuban immigrants and a person of color, I let it slide.

For me the larger issue wasn't so much the discourse they intended with Andy and the Gems, but more so the rather reserved touch they gave it. The narrative was so by the books, it was unable to uphold what should have been a riveting subject for the show to tackle. Instead it took something of a backseat and when they shifted the emotional trajectory to Steven needing Andy and Greg to reconcile, it felt further misplaced.

Those little toppers, like the wedding cake and Andy actually using the phrase "illegal immigrant" were great, daring things, but couched in the relentlessly optimistic family-togetherness story made the whole thing suffer overall.

Anyways, I'm hoping the fact that Boom is giving the series another steady comic serial puts those annoying cancellation rumours to rest. SU as a franchise is only getting bigger by the day.

Heads up Steventhusiasts! Steven Universe has been given a return from hiatus date of Jan 30! Not only that, but the return will be marked by a Stevenbomb!

CN's tumblr has updated to reflect this with a very intriguing image and you can find a full release of the summaries for these new eps on The Geekiary along with one preview screen cap.

I'm seriously so done with the episodes with no plot progression (ex: three gems and a baby) like I know the episodes give you more info about the characters/backstory and they aren't fillers, but I just want to see my strong mom again. Jasper pls come back

OMG!!! By now I'm sure every fan is aware, but CN pre-emptively released all 5 returning episodes on their CN Anytime App early this week!

Not only has this basically obliterated the end of the month return date, but the videos and every other associated spoiler-y thing (thumbnails, screenshots, previews) have been ripped and posted online just about everywhere!

If you want to view these screenings early still, you can do so via your cable provider's on demand streaming service as they are no longer on the CN app but wow. Leaks abound people.

I suggest in the interest of fairness we use spoiler tags still to discuss this bomb.

Man! A lot has been happening in the fandom lately!

First up, beware people; leaks have popped up for Room for Ruby, which in a promo for the ep on her tumblr, story-boarder Lauren Zuke has revealed is one of her last episodes for the show thereby confirming the rumours she was leaving the production.

In a spot of good news however, Cartoon Network's twitter has revealed Steven Universe is getting a console game called Save the Light! If the name sounds familiar, that's because this is a direct sequel to the mobile game Attack the Light. As before, the story is being co-written by Rebecca Sugar herself. Not only do you get to customise your four party team this time around, but Greg and Connie will be playable characters!

So what did everyone think of Room for Ruby?
