I've spent a whole year's worth of time, and a whole lot of great memories with friends and great times on ACC when I was really raking in the dough... But seriously, today I finally decided to restart my town after existing in ACNL since December 27th, 2013. Though my memories of that great town may be wisped away in forgetfulness, I choose to move on to a new town with new beginnings as I finally begin my second turn of the New Leaf. May I see you all under the same name, but in a different town. Etopia is where I will reside, and may we cross paths in that time in between. Thank you so much ACC for helping me truly enjoy Animal Crossing how it should be.

I've just reset my town three days before today, as I didn't play it for a while and wanted a knew start. It was sad, but it was the right thing to do. And now I'm happy in my new town of Baydia!
I reset last Saturday (April 4) and to be honest, I'm much happier with the layout and all, but waiting for the dream suite and stuff to unlock again is a pain c:
I was only 2 weeks into the game when I chose to restart, at least I wasn't a couple of years down the line xD
Sure, when I unlocked things like the island again, I was happy, but not the same joy I felt when I did it for the first time... but still, I've only unlocked the Island, Dream Suite, QR Machine and The convenience store in my previous town and was waiting for Club LOL to open, so that's not really a lot- and I haven't bothered much with house expansions then xD
In City Folk I didn't play for a long time then reset my town because of the weeds. I should of just pulled up the weeds. But I'm actually glad a little bit, I got Sydney in my new town!

I bought New Leaf the DAY it came out. I was waiting outside of GameStop waiting for them to open.
I had a town, I liked it, I had for a while (not sure how long) and then I stopped playing for awhile. When I came back to it I guess I didn't want to take the time to rebuild, I just wanted to start fresh. And honestly, I regret it. I know a lot of people don't. But I had a town the day it came out and I wish I still had it. I mean, I have learned a lot and my town that I have now is beautiful, but I think I started it last October.
So, there is nothing wrong with restarting, I just wish I had stuck it out and kept it. I know I definitely will not be getting rid of this town. Period. I would have the 500 hours played by now for sure.

When you restart what do you do with all of your stuff? Lose it? Money items special things. I keep thinking of restarting but I don't wanna lose anything I collected especially money wise

Well, you don't have to lose everything. If there's some items that you want to keep you can give them to someone that you trust. But that's only things that can be held in your pockets; money, clothing, furniture, etc.
Stuff like house upgrades, badges, PWPs and the like all get lost and everything starts from scratch in that sense.

Oooh ok this is my second time on acnl because my daughter decided to restart my town because she wanted to be mayor. Ugh luckily I was at the beginning when this all happend. Maybe two weeks into it? I've never restarted after say 6 months or so.

Yeah, like I said, everything resets. You will lose everything and it completely refreshes. But anything tangible you can leave in a friend's town to hold onto until you can retrieve them. But that's it.

I've restarted my game over 10 times now, finally settled on the perfect map (and one I got to place PWPs quick enough so no pesky villagers can place their home two spaces from mine).
I looked through my 3DS pictures and was a bit sad after seeing all the ones from villages past. Now, I'm happy about my current town way more than those, but I'm still sad each time I restart an Animal Crossing game.

I had an old CF town that I mentioned earlier, I reset it because I hadn't played AC for a long time before that and my town had been littered with weeds. I should have just kept the town and pulled them all up, no matter how many days it would take, but I reset. That was my first ever town named K Town. The second town I had on CF named K Town I started back in October, I had it for about a week and that's when I was out of my "Animal Crossing phase". One February day, I decided it would be a good idea to stop playing Wii Sports Resort for a while and begin playing AC:CF. I loaded up, and asked Rover to reset my town.
That's when I got the town I have today. I had regret resetting my oldest town... until I made my current one. I have no regrets resetting it now, and I'm working on getting the villagers I really liked from K Town #1 back. It's been going fine.

I restarted my town because just as I got established, a villager put a house right in front of mine and blocked my view of the sea....burn. Now I quickly put public works near my house so no one can invade my lovely view, well, the lovely view in my mind.
I'm going to be restarting my town tomorrow. I fell super behind on it after I got a job, and I was going to try to work with what I had, until I saw that Purrl had moved out, she was the only thing keeping me from restarting. But I'm confident I'll be happy with my new town! Now if only I knew what to name it...
I would never restart my town. Had it since the very beginning.
If you want a new start, you could always make a new character. You won't be mayor, but basically everything else is the same. And you won't lose all your stuff

Sometimes good things find you when you're most blue.
They could be standing right behind you.
I deleted all of my NL towns whenever I restarted because I found the game to be boring, and am never going to play NL ever again.
Just now, I checked my gamecube memory card, and I couldn't find my AC GCN save data on it, which means someone deleted it or the game corrupted. I'm not extremely sad since I haven't played in a while, and I have CF, but I'm not going to restart for a few years, or until I get bored of CF.
Restarting my CF town would be really sad since I have a great town layout and if I did restart I would have to work for Nook again, plus I would have to register my friends again, and they would have to register me again as well.
