Nah, it doesn't. Having the DLC "downloaded" doesn't exactly affect much anyway: All it does is flick a switch for any non-DLC characters you boot, allowing them to access DLC content. In fact, if you load a DLC character without the DLC downloaded.. everything still works. You're still able to access DLC content, and do everything within the DLC, like visit Origin Island, etc. That character already had it's "DLC" switch flipped, so it's ALWAYS in "DLC Mode" now.

So basically, what I did was activate the DLC on my main character, then immediately remove the DLC "download". Now every time I load up my main character, I have access to the DLC. Every time I load up my backup character (who I want to keep DLC-free), I don't have access to and DLC content, and the game thinks the character is from the base game. (And he comes up in Multiplayer as v1.0.0, so he can play with non-DLC characters)

Far more convenient than reactivating and deactivating the DLC whenever I wanted to switch saves.

I'm thinking about starting again also, I haven't played this game in forever. Got totally distracted by Majora's Mask (still playing - it's really long) and I'm afraid I've forgotten where everything is. So I'm wondering if I should just start the whole she-bang again. Can't decide.

If you have a free save slot go for it. It's more fun than playing an already completed or partially completed save.

I've recently done the same thing when I started playing Dragon's Dogma again. When I revisit an RPG I almost always just restart.

It is super fun .. I would say the best way of seeing if you'd like it is to check out some youtube videos about it, as they show the gameplay as it actually is and you'll get a greater feel for what it's like. I'd especially recommend LinandKo's videos if you don't want too many spoilers on the main story

When I get my fc, how do I get friends ?

I think there's a co-op mode and you can invite people into your world.

I really need to get back into Fantasy Life so I don't mind doing some co-op. I think you'd need the DLC though.

I have a character without the DLC active if you want to play together with that. ;o Very low-level too, I think only like Lv 12 or something.

And yeah, when you get the game, basically just share friendcodes to add players through the normal 3DS way - online play works pretty much exactly as it does in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - one player opens up their "Reveria" for other players to join. Although unlike AC:NL, other players cannot alter anything permanent. (as such, griefing is a non-issue in FL)

However, once you add friend codes to your 3DS as you would to get friends in any other game you have a few specific steps to do inside the Fantasy Life game to allow you to see friends there. It becomes second nature after a while but this post here walks you through it at first As it says you have to wait until a little bit into the game until you open up the streetpass/multiplayer functions.

You just need to use your 3DD console's friend code. They're universal now.

This is about to be me. This game has RUINED me! lol Nothing else I play in this genre now even comes close to how much I love this game. I am *trying* to play Rune Factory 4 and it's just so stale and linear compared to FL. I can't even play it for more than 1/2 an hour a day before I get bored and shut it down. I am SO SO SO mad they're changing the formula for the next game. I am honestly worried I'll never be able to get in to another RPG/Simulation/Farming game again.

Yeah, I just can't play games on my phone the way I do on my 3DS .. such a shame really (also I am on windows phone so it probably won't be ported to play on that ).

I even got the plus version of the iPhone a few months back in the hopes it would make gaming on my phone more fun but...I need physical buttons or something. The only games I can play on my phone are like Tiny Tower and card games. lol

But even if it was the same formula just on the phone I'd make do. But the fact that's it's not even going to be close makes it so not worth it. :/

So instead of making a sequel that's designed like the FUN first game, they are going to go w/ a village building style that's already been done AT LEAST a dozen times on the app store??? If I wanted to play a VB style game, i'd go back to playing family guy QFCS or Simpsons TO!!!
