I hope that no one gets confused and returns their Wii U/3DS because they think it's just broken and not that the Nintendo network is having issues. XD

The other night I was looking in to the gamecube some and realized Nintendo didn't get anywhere near their sales goal for it.
Which now makes it even less sensible that people think that nintendo is doomed to be like Sega if the WiiU fails.

Right, they've kind of always over shot. But they're not going anywhere. Despite it not looking so spectacular, the 3DS XL sells well, the WiiU is now outselling the Wii in Japan & North America (which still was selling very well), as well as the old DS and the original 3DS. So yea they had a dull moment there but honestly we've been here before, we're coming out of it, Nintendo will survive. If anything this time because they're not doing the same games as everyone else. That's clearly what will save them and have them continue into the future. As long as their style gaming stays popular, they'll sell. They've got billions of dollars, the company is worth about 16 billion dollars, they've got 12 billion on hand. So they're not dying by any means. All this negativity toward it will be forgotten mostly eventually and we'll just remember the WiiU as cool, but not as revolutionary as the Wii. I feel like that even goes for the other 2 systems. Its like every other generations is more exciting. N64/PS1/Dreamcast. Then we were bored again kinda. Then Wii/360/PS3, now we're like ???? again.... lol PS2 best selling system, maybe but everyone was so fast to move on and forget about it. :/

lol did anyone see those WiiU or 3DS holiday commercials? I almos teared up at the one where they're all "we play because it's Nintendo" I think they've done that before but maybe not, either way omg ;.;

Got a Zelda XL for Christmas.
It has sat here taunting me ever since. I can't use it 'til Nintendo's blasted servers go back up to being steady; I am NOT risking data loss in a transfer. Got at least $350 worth in downloads on my "old" XL. If I lost any of it I may cry on the inside.














And maybe a bit on the outside that's a lot of money okay.

Like I said, my biggest disappointment was shutting down select online services on the Wii so fast after I bought it (in February 2013), even though, the funny thing is, I didn't know I would get them upon purchasing the Wii to begin with!! I primarily bought it for the Mario Kart, & at that time I didn't even know about Wii online capabilities lol

The Wii U will have those services and more in time!

There's Miiverse, video chat, Animal Crossing Plaza--it is a fun investment!

That sounds perfect. I believe I will wait for the Smash Bros. That sounds like a nice time to get it. Honestly I do not see any other console more worth getting in the months/years ahead of us.

Right, Nintendo always sells, but technology in general kind of just does that "half" thing. We aren't far enough away from the Wii/360/PS3 to have totally made revolutionary systems. Like how the SNES was in hindsight was better than the NES but not so much more that it's crazy future. But from NES to SNES to then the N64, woah! Right? Then Gamecube yeeeaaaa same N64 better graphics. Then WII WOAH MOTION CONTROLS different things, WiiU, same thing, tablet with it though cool, Next gen = more revolutionary? The other two had the same thing just they got different pros and cons.

Yea I'm kind of mixed on that. I don't think they should have shut it off so early in the WiiU's life but at least you can do WiFi things that don't require their network and the Wii store still works doesn't it? But everything else is off.... right? They slightly limited their own system which was still being used the most. But at the same time I feel like we were just winding down on the Wii anyway. I think I still woulda given it maybe 4 more months than they did. I stopped playing my Wii in 2009 but picked up on it again right before I got my WiiU, but now I don't notice it cause the only Wii 2 games I play now is Kirby Epic Yarn and the 20th Anniversary Kirby game with the retro Kirby games in it cause I was late on them.



Really the WiiU's internet services already beat the Wii out of the park. Once there is more online multiplayer games it'll be golden. That's really all it's missing. Daily challenges in certain games and anything where the WiiU touches the internet has so far been way more reliable than the Wii, which was already way better at reliability things compared to my 360.

You know I really wish they'd release a star fox title for WiiU. It's been far to long since Fox has seen action and i think the game pad could be well used on that type of game.

I agree. I thought a Star Fox game would've been awesome on the Wii, but I think it'd be even better on the Wii U. I wouldn't even mind if they did something like Star Fox Adventures again.

Yes, the Wii shop Channel still works! Although Nintendo unfortunately removed the Commodore 64 games from the Virtual Console, but that had to do with the licence rights I guess, cause the company that purchased the Commodore rights unfortunately went bankrupt in the meantime.

And yes I am very happy that the WiFi things still works on the Wii. Completely agree about the multiplayer, I am more than hooked on anything that is WiFi on the Wii, so I expect to support the same games on the Wii U as well (when I get it). Personally, the Wii U Sports bundle currently looks the most tempting to me. But, like I said, I  will probably wait a bit, since I'm hooked on too many Wii games as is, many more to get, plus, on top of that waiting the Smash Bros and Mario Kart for Wii U.

I never thought of Star Fox as a "past series" before, but now that you bring that up, I kind of realize that it is at this point. Star Fox Command was the last new game and that released over seven years ago.

Anybody else think that Retro Studios would be able to make an awesome new Star Fox game?

Well Star Fox 64 3D was released not to long ago, and even though it was just a remake; it means Nintendo still has the series in mind.


I think Retro Studios could do a great job with it, minded they do it right. I think if they do another Star Fox it needs to go along the lines on the first two games in the series. I know a lot of people liked star fox adventures, but a lot of people didn't too. I think it would be safer to keep it purely fighter polite based.

I don't know if I'd count Star Fox 64 3D as exactly remembering their series in a new way. Let's put it this way, Pilotwings has a newer addition in it's series than Starfox because of Pilotwings Resort lol
Actually perhaps Starfox isn't really a past series, I guess I just thought there was more games in the series but excluding 643D for being a remake, there's only 5 unique games. But they've always added Fox and Co into Smash Bros so it's not dead. It's just kind of a really slow going on. 2 of them on Gamecube, sometimes I get excited when I see that, if the WiiU pulls a Gamecube game trend we could def see a Starfox game again. ugh they have the right idea too if they almost implimented the platform with Kid Icarus 3D. Just move that to the WiiU

Also on the topic of semi-forgotten game series, what about a new F-Zero? Personally, I think it would work out well on Wii U or 3DS. At least F-Zero got some representation in Nintendo Land. I think Captain Falcon is more known from Smash Bros. than his own series though.

Was one of the N3DS ambassador games from the F-Zero series? If so, then that's the only game I've played in the series, and I don't remember being too impressed.

Yes, it was Maximum Velocity. That one is okay. I'd recommend F-Zero X or F-Zero GX though. Those are the good ones, in my opinion. I've heard GP Legend isn't bad either, but I haven't played that one.

Oh man, Starfox on the Wii U? That is a game I could get behind. Imagine a whole reboot of the series. Now that would be awesome. I think Starfox would have been a prime game to use to show off the Wii U's game pad when the console launched.

I would be really happy if they made a new Metriod game or even a new Turok game for the Wii U. That would really make my day. I would die if they made another Chibi Robo game for the console.

I think Nintendo wants to do F-Zero on the Wii U. We probably won't hear anything until after Kart and Smash though. :o

I bet you Metroid will have a WiiU game. She only missed the N64 since Samus joined the Nintendo team. I swear I saw or read something a while ago, that they wanted to use ideas that were gonna be incorperated into Zelda U, also into a future Metroid title. Any of Nintendo's series that are futuristic style need a WiiU title, the gamepad totally amps up the technology intigrated that would make em more fun. I'd def support Metroid U or Starfox U.

I'd be excited over F-Zero because it's bringing up an old series, but I'm totally one of those dummies who only know Captain Falcon from Smash Bros Never got into them for some reason.

I remember F-Zero GX. The story mode was hard.


I recently got Mario 3D World, and I love it. 100%ing is is a huge pain too, but I guess I'm not complaining because I'll be playing it for a while...

I recently 100%'d SM3DW. In the end I had 1278 deaths. I think more than half of those deaths happened in Champion's Road.
