I am also interested in Pokémon Battle Trozei. Can't wait to get it this Thursday. I love puzzle games and have been itching to buy a new game anyways.

Expect a new Nintendo Direct soon, as the upcoming releases of the GBA Virtual Console games, the Sonic Lost World Zelda DLC, and NES Remix 2!

My prediction is April 6, the same day the first GBA games release for Wii U.

There is a Smash Bros Nintendo Direct on April 8!

My prediction is Captain Rainbow will be announced to please Japanese gamers and Pac-Man to please North American gamers.

I still hope Mike Jones will be an assist tropthy for character.

The next Assit Trophey should be Looker, the hard-boiled detective.

I want a release date too, that's all I've thought of the Direct since I've heard of it, but more characters would be nice too.

They won't give us a release date, but they'll give us a release window.
Anyway, I don't think it's coming earlier than the end of the year.

I expect at least one newcomer and a few veterans.

I also want to see some more inventive stages for the WiiU-version. So far, it seems to me like the 3DS-version has all the crazy stages while the WiiU-version gets the more straight-forward ones.

Lol I missed the video and it doesn't appear on their site again yet, but I saw the Pokemon added, and now people are freaking out thinking Ness & Lucas aren't going to appear, that wouldn't make sense lol you release Earthbound on WiiU but drop their players in Smash Bros?

4/08/14 Highlights:

Launch windows: The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. is planned to launch this summer. The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. is planned to launch in winter 2014.
Silky-smooth 3D: Most game-play elements of the Nintendo 3DS version of the game will run at 60 frames per second, all in stereoscopic 3D.

“Smash Run”: Exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version of the game is a new mode called “Smash Run.” In this mode, four players have five minutes to enter a dungeon and explore the surroundings, fight enemies and obtain power-ups to enhance their fighters. Once the five minutes are up, all four fighters enter a battle arena using their newly equipped items and power-ups. Enemies encountered in the Smash Run mode are from a wide range of game series. Multiple Nintendo 3DS systems and games are required for multiplayer modes.

New challenger!: Greninja, the awesome final evolution of Froakie from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, joins the roster as a playable character inSuper Smash Bros. for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Oldies but goodies: Many of the classic characters from past Super Smash Bros. games that are returning in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS have new powers and abilities. Four characters that have appeared in previous games, but had yet to be announced before this Nintendo Direct, include:
Zero Suit Samus: That’s right, Zero Suit Samus is back, but this time she is her own fully playable character, separate from suited Samus. In the new game, she is given jet boots to make her even more powerful.

Sheik: As with Zero Suit Samus, Sheik is another character that appeared in previous Super Smash Bros. games, but will be a unique playable character for the first time in the new Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games. Sheik has new moves like Burst Grenade and Bouncing Fish.
Yoshi: In previous games, Yoshi stood on two legs and hunched over, as if Mario were going to jump on top of him at any moment. This new version of Yoshi stands completely upright, making him an even stronger fighter.

Charizard: After appearing from a Poké Ball in Super Smash Bros. Melee and becoming playable by using Pokémon Trainer in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this fire-breathing Pokémon is now a selectable character.

Online play: Both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. will offer online multiplayer game play with other players on the same platform. Players with broadband Internet access can battle it out with anyone else who is online and also has the game.
When playing with random players online, two modes are available: “For Fun” and “For Glory.” In “For Glory,” only Final Destination stage variations are available. There are no platforms, elevated areas or items in this mode. It is a nice, clean battle between characters. In “For Fun,” all stages are picked randomly and all items and power-ups are available.
When playing with friends, full customization is available – players can set the rules, stages and items however they want.

Variety of stages: While the cast of playable characters is the same in both versions of the new games, the stages where the battles take place are vastly different, depending on which system a player chooses. The Wii U stages are primarily based on past home console games, while the Nintendo 3DS stages draw from hand-held games for inspiration.Items, trophies and Pokémon: Items, assist trophies and Poké Balls all return in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. New to the games are Master Balls, special Poké Balls that contain Legendary Pokémon like Arceus and Xerneas.

Boss characters, such as the Yellow Devil in Dr. Wily’s Base, will make appearances in some stages. When bosses appear, fighters will have to battle the boss, as well as one another. The boss can even be used in strategic ways to damage other fighters.
Almost all the stages in both versions of the game will have a “Final Destination form,” an alternate form of each stage that is inspired by the relatively simple layout of the much-loved Final Destination stage.

Get connected: There will be elements in Super Smash Bros. that link both versions of the games. More details about this will be revealed at a later date.
Custom moves: In a series first, players can now customize move sets when playing locally or online with friends. More information about this feature will be announced in the future

This sounds like it was a very interesting Nintendo Direct... I'm definitely going to go check it out!

I liked it, a little disappointed the dates seem really far away from now, but the games looked really nice.

I'm currently watching it and I have to say that I'm pretty psyched that Isabelle is going to be an Assist Trophy! How cool! It's so nice that they're finally implementing Animal Crossing into Brawl Games

I just loved the bit about Final Destination being remodeled for almost every stage.

time for the pessimist to arrive....long read folks but please take some time, it does raise some valid points...

this direct left me more disappointed than impressed tbh....

the "for glory mode" is a horrible idea...and this is coming from a competitive/tournament smash player.....

why?

for starters final destination was NEVER THE ONLY STAGE PICKED BY COMPETITIVE PLAYERS, AND IN FACT IN SOME MATCHUPS IT WAS CONSIDERED THE WORST STAGE TO CHOOSE. Most notably against the ice climbers, with their infinite death grab, no platforms or hazards made this stage a ice climbers playground. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO PICKED FINAL DESTINATION ONLY IN BRAWL'S RANDOM MODE 90% OF THE TIME WERE STILL CASUALS/NON COMPETITIVE PLAYERS. The few competitive players who did pick it, were usually there to troll basic brawl anyhow with characters who tended to do good on FD anyhow.

2. The online mode having moderators who ban players from PLAYING ANY OF THE ONLINE for either attacking one player relentlessy or for any taunt party behavior such as ganging up on one player, was a horrible way to handle things. With how stupid miiverse's moderation is, the fact that nintendo will likely have these same type of people moderating smash matches, means that anyone who wants to get someone banned likely will be able to effortlessly, even if the player is actually just leaps and bounds better than the other player and is just outplaying them(and with for glory mode having 1v1 matches, this will be very common). This is a horrible setup that is going to cause far more issues than fixes. Heck they should of just had master hand come out of no where and smack any players for a 1hko that are double teaming and/or ganging up on one player.

3. ridley de-confirmed as playable, as well as dark samus. Metroid needs more reps, sure having zss as a stand alone character is nice and all, but she's still just metroids 2nd rep, meanwhile pokemon and mario have a huge cast of characters that have appeared as playable in smash. Two of the best candidates for metroid were just shot down.

There is one thing however that I did like...the custom moveset option has potential to help to a degree, any balance issues that might arrive. Some characters might be fine with their traditional moveset, others might need some of the customized moves to either slightly nerf em or buff em to roughly balance em against others more. The tournament/competitive smash community will be able to test enough to see what setup will be best for all the characters for competitive play.

Awwww. I was going to put my blog's post here, but apparently it's more than double the word limit haha.

Let's just say that I'm pretty happy with the Direct as a whole. Didn't get concrete release dates, which worries me since now they have more wiggle room to push it back. IF they stick with it though it's basically perfect for me. 3DS version right by my birthday, Wii U version near Christmas.

I'm actually excited for Smash now. I didn't really pay much attention to the game until the Direct. Gotta say the 3DS version is definitely shaping up nicely. The only thing I'm disappointed with is how the 3DS version doesn't have a ton of songs per sage like Brawl. Also I still really hate how the Nintendo Direct done in a presentation way. At times it feels like I'm watching a crappy slideshow training video for a job.
