Preferred Name: My username or any form of it is fine - "707" seems to be the most popular.
Date of Joining Staff: 9 July 2013
Staff Roles: Researcher
Background to Username: I use this username on most websites, and I had done so since well before I joined ACC on 20 May 2009. As for why I picked it out in the first place...I have no idea. I seem to remember it just sort of spontaneously coming to my mind, but I really don't know.
Background to Avatar: Yellow is my favorite color, and I like the look of the "rays" design better than any of the others, so the actual background to my avatar () was easy to choose. Originally, I chose Agent S, my favorite Animal Crossing character, as my avatar's character, but she didn't look very good in combination with the yellow rays background and I eventually decided that I needed a change, so I switched to Dotty, my second favorite character, to similar results. I kept going down the list of my favorites until I got to my tenth favorite, Winnie. I thought that she looked great against the background, so I stuck with her, and I've been using this avatar for over a year now!
Favorite AC Game:Animal Crossing: Wild World
Favorite Color: I've hidden the answer somewhere in this post. Background to Avatar Hobbies: I spend most of my free time on ACC, but I also go on Tumblr quite a bit and I obviously like video games.
A Little Bit About Me: I live with severe cases of two serious mental disorders: depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. Both first became debilitating between late 2005 and early 2006, and I wouldn't have been able to get past the two years or so right after they reached that level had I not found solace in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Three years later, I joined ACC, which became my primary "safe place" in 2010. By this time, my mental disorders had calmed down quite a bit, but they both flared up again in early 2013, and, as of the time of this post, I am using ACC and New Leaf to help recover again.
I feel that the stigmatisation of mental disorders is one of the most serious issues facing the world today, and it is one of three main causes that garner the most support from me. The others are the prevention of animal cruelty, a cause that has the potential to positively impact more lives than any other, and awareness of overpopulation, a crisis that either causes or worsens most other major world issues.
I tend to be very introverted offline, but I've made several amazing friends on ACC that mean so much to me. I hope to be able to improve the site however I can as a researcher.
If you have any questions for me, just ask! That's what this board is for, and I just may answer.
"Do you find working for ACC rewarding and if so why?"
Yes, I do. I haven't really had the entire "staff experience" quite yet, because it takes a couple of weeks for new staff members to learn the ropes and because the adviser to the R&D team (iolite) hasn't been as active as she'd like to be lately, so I haven't been a "normal staff member" for very long, but I do feel like I've been able to contribute to the site as best I can. I love being able to help make the site that has meant so much to me for years even better, so that other people will be able to have as good of an experience as I have.
