So I have looked all over the place on the web and I seriously cannot find one place that has all of the items in the game in an easy-to-use format. I am a cataloguer and part of the intrigue for me with a game like Animal Crossing is the desire to fully complete my item catalog. It has been very frustrating trying to keep track of what I have catalogued and what I haven't. The Prima game guide is horrible in this regard as there are 30-40 pages of shirts in absolute NO particular order. The random furniture is listed in the exact same way.

I thought about looking to see if someone had made an app for this game at all and lo and behold there is one! It does not have the furniture, clothing, and accessories but it does have bugs, fish, fossils, and some other minor stuff. Whoever is doing it seems to have a good thing started up, I just wish all the categories were in it.

Anyways, because of my frustration, I think I am going to be putting together a master item list for this game in an Excel file where I can easily sort things in seconds and find whatever I want to. I didn't know if anyone else had found a master item list they like already or if anyone would be interested in using mine once I get it done, so let me know of either if you have or are interested in the one I'm making!

Long live the 100%-ers!

There's a couple already floating around on this site if you want to save time Here's a website that has pictures with the names right here but there's also an excel file that I have saved from some thread that I could find if you're interested in that too.

Thanks clemsongal. That site seems pretty thorough. I guess the site remembers what you check and uncheck every time you go there. Hmmmm. Other than that concern I think that's one good solution. Anything to save me time and keep me on the game and not on Excel!

Just an FYI....if you change the language from UK English to US English it jacks up all the check boxes you entered in.

I'm enjoying using my prima guide to keep track of everything. Sure it takes a bit of time (and I wish so badly it was better organized!)...I'm still liking it personally. I just have to use the index constantly in the back (I put a small line next to each item I recieve in the index so I know that I've got it).

Well, after looking into all this for the last few days I think I'm still going to do it. I have an excel file I got from an old friend of mine I used to catalog with in Wild World, I have the guide, and there's lists on IGN and Thonky as well. I am going to cross reference all those together in Excel and check them against the Prima guide. My plan is to have everything on one big sheet where you use filters to find what you want. I hope to be able to sort by type (furniture, shirt, etc), theme, series, whether it is orderable or not, and where to find/acquire the item. It will take me a bit but hopefully it will be the most accurate yet. The website mentioned above is excellent but I want something with a bit more info and able to be sorted by different things. Wish me luck.

Also heres a link to a spreadsheet I got off someone on this website. It has everything!

I also bought a Prima Guide. I pre-ordered via Amazon (May 2nd) but they weren't shipped until mid June. Mine Arrived June 17th. It was $12.38 + tax = $13.31 total, free shipping.
It came with a post card type insert attached in the center of the book with a code to unlock the inking guide for free.

(Find it here: http://shar.es/kc2i2)

You can also just buy the online version for $9.99. The two things I like the most about the online version is that it's searchable AND that each category can be sorted in several different ways.
So, under the Chapter "Furniture Showcase" there is a page that explains how to understand each section along with "related content."
This is what that page says...
Clicking the "related content" link opens a drop-down menu with this:
FURNITURE SHOWCASE
Catalog: Umbrellas | Clothing Catalog | Sets and Disguises | Tops | Bottoms | Furniture Series | Themes | Furniture Sets | Other Furniture | Wallpaper | Flooring

Under that it says this:
~~~~~
Welcome to our fabulous Furniture Showcase! Here we expose every piece of furniture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, revealing complete furniture series, sets, and themes that can really spruce up your home.?
Understanding the Sections?
Here’s how to read each item’s section in the Furniture Showcase:?
Value: The item’s suggested retail value (in Bells). Items typically sell for 1/4 of this value at Re-Tail.?
A (*) Indicates that the item is not for sale at any shop.? (The (*) actually looks like a tiny red flowery asterisk.)
HHA Theme(s): The theme(s) that the item belongs to. Not every item belongs to an HHA Theme. See the previous “Home Sweet Home” chapter for details.?
Obtainable from: The shop, event, or NPC character that offers you the item. See the previous “Shops and Such,” “Friendly Faces,” and “Seasonal Events” chapters for greater detail.?
The chapter is then sub-divided into these categories:
•Furniture Series
•Themes
•Furniture Sets
•Other Furniture
•Wallpaper
•Flooring
The bottom of the page has a note:
"Note All DLC information is accurate as of May 2013. DLC availability may change for various regions in the future."
Clicking on each of the above categories takes you to that page/section. Within each section you can sort in several ways.
Opening the "Furniture Series" page gets you to this note:
"A furniture series is defined by two important factors. First, the pieces that make up a series always combine to form a real, functional room Second, every series has matching wallpaper and flooring.?
Complete a series by collecting all of its furniture pieces, then spread on the series’ unique wallpaper and flooring to finish the room. Furniture series look great, have functional pieces, and score you big points with the Happy Home Academy (HHA)!?"
It shows each series in alphabetical order, starting with the "Alpine Series"
You can then choose to display 10 - 100 entries per series.
Each individual section (in this case the Alpine Series) is searchable.
There are 13 pieces in the Alpine Series.
Across the top header the sections are:
•Image (a small pic of each item)
•Name (example, "Alpine Bed")
•Value (see explination above- The bed is listed at $600. This is very confusing to many players. I don't know why they didn't list the purchase price of each item or both purchase price (if there is one) AND value.)
--->It doesn't say any of this in the guide, but the "value" is the price Reese will offer to pay you in the Re-Tail store. I find when listing item for sale, similar to the old yard-sale day, Animal neighbors will typically pay just under 4 x's what Reese offers. (For example, my neighbors will buy my Gyroids for $3,300 each. The "value" (what Reese offers to pay) is $828. $828 x 4 = $3,312. I sell the $2,000 ore for $7,500 each. I haven't had anyone pay over $9,800 for silver (or gold). <---
•HHA Theme(s): Rustic  (this series is all "Rustic" but some series have pieces that fall into more than one theme.)
•Obtainable From: Tommy & Timmy
Then each section has the ability to sort in a ascending or descending order so under items, you can sort alphabetically starting with A or Z, under value you can sort from lowest to highest or highest to lowest, and so on. I find this especially useful in the clothing section when trying to put together outfits by theme (for Gracie).
Anyway, had I not purchased the book with a free (one use only) code to unlock the online guide I would have probably paid the $10 to buy the online version. The book is currently selling on Amazon via outside vendors starting at $14.55 + your states tax, if any (that includes $3.99 shipping) or for $14.58 (+ any tax) w/free 2 day Prime Shipping.
The one thing the online version does lack is the ability to mark off items you have acquired.
However, there is a TON of useful info. Another great example...
When you're working for Brewster & trying to keep track of who likes what coffee beans along with how much milk and/or sugar, if any the next part comes in handy!
In the "Friendly Faces" section under each of the animals/possible neighbors there is a "coffee code" listed for each individual animal/neighbor (they are sorted by animal type, & then by name. Not each type of animal has the same "code."
Then under the section "Favorite Coffee" it lists the Coffee Types 1-A & 1-B through 8A & 8-B. Each one of those sections lists 35 different animals. You find your animal/neighbor (sometimes it's an out if town animal) first by code then by type of animal (bear, bear cub, Bird, etc). Then the chart tells you for each one exactly which beans & how much, if any, milk & sugar they take.
I then keep a little chart in my iPhone notes section. (It does not list a coffee code for the "Pillars of the Community" such as Isabella, Tom Nook, DJ K.K, etc., so you'll still have to pay attention to what they say when sitting at the coffee counter or when ordering coffee until you get it right):
Since I did buy the book version I'm happy I have both (for just over $13!). While I don't use the book when playing, I do like to sit & browse through it & update items I have (via my game bug/fish collection section or catalog kiosk in the store, etc.) when I get time (like in the mornings with my coffee, lol).
I also saw them at my local Best Buy for the list price of $19.99. They are sealed in plastic so people can't cheat & steal the code inside  (making it useless for the person buying the actual book).
You can find the online guide/more info here:
http://shar.es/kc2i2
I hope this information is helpful to someone!
After a lot of work, I am finally ready to unveil the Excel file I've been working on. I would recommend that if you are even going to look at this then I would download it and view it in Excel because I don't even think the online version shows all the items.
This is still a work in progress but the summary page and all of my cataloged column is complete. The summary page automatically calculates how complete your catalog is based on whether you type in Yes or No in the Catalog column. To use it for yourself, you'd need to wipe out all the data in that column and fill it in to match your catalog.
What would be even better is if anyone wanted to use this we could just add columns for each person. After they put their initial data in it would be easy to compare with other users and then fill in each other's catalog gaps.
Animal Crossing New Leaf Master Item List
It's a monster of a file but has every single thing possible in the catalog. There is NOTHING that is able to be catalogged that is not on there. I can say that with 99.9% certainty as I cross-referenced 5 different sources when making it.
The sources I used were:
IGN Wiki (horrible...worst out of the 5 for accuracy)
Prima guide (excellent accuracy but horrible layout)
Excel file from a friend on this site (hit or miss accuracy on some sections)
MoriDB website (excellent accuracy)
Jimdo website (excellent accuracy and where to go to find a picture or if an item is orderable or not)
