Get Rid of Villagers

I've spent quite a few days testing different ways to get rid of unwanted villagers, and I've found a process that works for me. If you don't mind some minor time traveling, and you have some patience (and time) it will only take a couple of hours to do - less if you get lucky. Here's what I do.

1. Time travel two days into the future - no repercussions.

2. Save, and then time travel back to your regular time.

3. Walk around town without talking to villagers until one of them approaches you with the wish to talk with you. This will probably be the villager who wants to move.

4. If you want to keep this villager, tell him/her so, and start the process again. If it's the villager you want to remove - yay!

Some points:

- You won't always have a villager approach you - he/she might be indoors, or at the museum. In this case, after you have done the rounds, start talking to other villagers - often they will say who wants to move. One of the villagers WILL want to move - you just have to find which one. When you do, finish the process before trying again. So that means, find them and either accept or deny the moving wish.

- A villager approaching you might want to talk for a different reason - that's ok. Finish the conversation and keep looking.

- My experience has been - the friendlier you are with a villager, the more likely it is that those will be the ones to want to move (go figure).

- Uchi personalities require special treatment sometimes. If you agree to their wish to move, they may get offended and change their minds. There are a couple of ways around this.

If you know ahead of time that it's an Uchi villager who wants to move (via another villager telling you), and it's that Uchi villager you want to remove, do nothing. Do not talk to that Uchi villager at all - they will leave in a few days without you having to engage them at all.

The other way, if it's too late and the villager has already talked with you and changed her mind, reset your game without saving. When you've restarted, don't talk to that villager at all, but do try to get one of the other villagers to verify that the Uchi villager is going to move. Then just wait it out until she moves.

This has been my experience, and I've removed all of the villagers I don't want (mostly Uchi).

I've also noticed that whenever I TT back a few days, someone always wants to leave. My uchi villager wanted to leave even though she's only lived in my town for a little bit. I decided not to let her go (I will get that bus stop request......), but thank you for the advice!

On my other file, I TTed back and forth between days and noticed that the same villager always wanted to leave on the same day, even after I told her to stay. Now, I haven't tested it, but I think if you want them to move and they decide not to, maybe going forward a day and going back may get them to ask you again (and possibly, they'll agree this time).

I didn't like most people in my town, so I tried this, and it took a few times travelling back and forth, but finally one of the many characters I don't like asked to move, and so I said yes, traveled to his moving date, and travelled back to my original date, and I still had perfect town.

so Success!

Once you get somebody to want to move out, is there any sure method to travel to the date they move out?

After you TT two days into the future, enter the game, go through Isabelle's Talk, and then once your town enters the screen... (You leaving your house, everyday stuff.)
Save and Quit.
I changed my 3ds time, so I went back into settings and changed it back to real time.
I reopened my town, and then I went around until someone noticed me. (It only took me 5 minutes.) Croque told me that he was moving out.

*sigh* I may consider doing this if Tammy doesn't move out soon. I've waited over a month for her to go and i'm starting to get impatient.

Uchi villagers aren't the only ones who can "get offended" and decide not move.

Any villager personality can decide on their own to stay.

It has happened to me with a Jock, Peppy, and Smug, so I'd assume all personalities can do it. Dx
Which can be frustrating!

Not if you have the 'Keep Town Beautiful' Ordinance in place. With any other Ordinance, your flowers may die, but I doubt 2 days is a large enough jump unless you haven't watered your flowers.

I got Tiffany to move, she's always asking me to go to her house. Her house isn't even that nice. I even told her it was horrible. I think that's what made her move.

This definitely works. I never put two and two together that my casual TTing forward, then back was what made some of my less desirable residents up and leave, but now it really makes sense. Tried it to confirm, Paula's moving out on the 20th. Thank Tortimer, man.

I'll probably use this to preen my town into a utopian bliss.

This sounds pretty interesting, and while I don't like using time travel for any game altering/abusing things.  I don't really see anything wrong with just enjoying the village with the animals you want there.

You do it by changing only the 3ds clock right?  I haven't actually done it before.  Never even really crossed my mind.

My only thought though before I run off and try it is.  Does it rot turnips?

Maybe I should wait till I sell my big stockpile to go off trying it.

Great find though!  So far it sounds like it is working!

Okay, if none of my villagers have come up to me telling me that they're moving and I've talked to each villager and they haven't said anything about anyone moving, what do I do?

Just go forward two days and then back and try again?
