That title sounded better in my head xD Anywayyyyy, Blue Marlins are so rare I usually don't bother trying to catch them after I've found one to donate to the museum.  So I forget how big is the shadow.

Please use other fish as comparison.  It is as big as an Arapaima?  Or is it smaller like Sea Bass size?  Or even the size of Red Snapper?

I think the shadow for a Blue Marlin is a bit bigger than a Sea Bass.

It's a longer and skinnier shadow than the sea bass size.

Sea bass shadows look like their tails are cut off or nubby. They're like perfect teardrop shapes (how appropriate).

Blue marlins actually look like they have a tail. They're stretched out more, and like Azada said, they're skinnier too. Same with Napoleonfish.

Cupcake42, they are thinner and bigger than sea basses, like Blue Marlin.

At first it's hard to notice difference but after while you sort of get used to it. I can tell who's sea bass and who's not most of time now.

That would also explain why I only kept catching Sea Bass with the Sea Bass shadow.  It's bad enough my game likes to be mean on purpose and make the fish escape when I properly reel one in >_>

I probably missed out on at least three Marlins thanks to that.

They are really common on the island, and since the beginning of July, they started showing up at the beach as well. I think their shadows look similar to Napoleonfish and Coelecanths. Good Luck catching them!

Ooops sorry, guess that explains why you were having such a hard time catching them. I haven't been able to catch one in WW or CF yet either, so I'm no help there.

I've caught them in Wild World before.  It is possible that the month is wrong though.  I've been in several situations where fish and insects that allegedly appear in a specific month don't appear in that month at all.

Two examples are the grasshopper and jewel beetle: I caught them...by time traveling to August.  They're not showing up in my town at all and it's July in my town. But when I traveled to August suddenly they were showing up.

In Wild World, sea bass and coelacanths were exactly the same sized shadow.

While on the island last night, I noticed that two fish have the same size and shape as a sea bass. If anyone is searching for a ray or a moray eel, those shadows look like sea bass shadows. Don't scare those shadows off if you haven't donated them yet!

rays? i have only found them on tours. are they only on the island? are they at certain times? these fish shadows are a bit hard to get used to in NL. the snapper is about the shadow size the horse mackrel was in WW

Rays aren't available in your town until August, but they are always on the island between 4 a.m. and 9 p.m. I caught five in a row in the exact same spot one evening. It was pretty crazy. You should be able to find one!
