Totally thought Saharah was a boy this whole time! I know, I must be pretty late to the party but it was kinda a shock! She is in my town today and one of my villagers said something like 'it takes guts to be a traveling saleswoman these days' Anyone else not know? I fear I may be the only one
I know how it's said and that it is in reference to the desert, I just always figured it to be a boy. Feels weird. I'm still gonna read everything she says in an overly happy, elderly, Indian mans voice.
They're so exaggerated though lol. And I believe Gracie is a girl in the NA version, so eyelashes are still a good tip off~ I can see why you'd think it's a boy though, nikkicrown.
That's one of the most admirable things about Animal Crossing, it doesn't give a monkeys fart about genders or gender stereotypes, or well.. at least likes to play around with them.
Funny this thread mades me remind the whole AC:CF scandal/controversy when the Japanese (and also the Korean) site said that Saharah, Gracie and also (beleive it or not) Blanca are males!
I always thought that was females, but nope are males...
But anyway in the end wasn't very big, is just another missunderstood between Nintendo Japan and America (something similar with the "Birdo case")

Yep, she's a female, but a male in the Japanese version. In the older games she had a really deep voice so I can see why people think she's a guy. I'm not sure why they changed their gender, I mean I thought the eyelashes were just a camel thing.
In japan Vivian is a transgendered woman being born male but identifying as female. Gracie is just a really feminine guy. I don't know about Saharah and Blanca I don't think has a listed gender in Japan.
