Update time... The total vote count as of now is 90!  Sounds pretty big for week 1, but assuming everyone used their 3 votes (not all didn't), that means 30 votes in total. And obviously a lot of them will be people who have voted before.  We've had far worse starts, but we can do better. Keep voting every day, spread your votes out...  Make alliances (remember you can't actually say who you voted for), support your group. You can't be selfish and not vote cause you're scared you'll lose right now, or I'll get no votes at all.

And so far, you're doing well.  We have a bottom three right now, which is really great. Ideally, I want a bottom two, but three is far beter than 2009's bottom 7.

It'll vary. Either way, I'll ensure at least a week has passed before I do the next week. I'll try and keep it at the weekend, but I work alternate weekends so it may be a bit jumbled. If there's a week I can't do it, I'll postpone. I'd rather do that than do it mid week and possibly mess up the judges schedules.

Deadline: 9th August

This year, for the first time ever, all the final 24 are prose writers... So what better way than to torture you by asking you to do something different?  There are two ways of doing script.  The first way is if you're too lazy to do prose, and think that just putting people talking is a good way of writing.  The other way... is to do it properly.  Making a script isn't just a shortcut for writing a good story, it's an actual writing style.  Look it up on the internet.  This isn't a dialogue challenge, this is testing you in a different style.  Script doesn't have to mean comedy, but you need to make it so that what you write is actually in script for a reason.

-Doesn't need to be related to your fanfic
-Any genre, plot or storyline
-Maximum three chapters/parts
-It doesn't have to be Animal Crossing/other fandoms, but it can be if you want
-Researching how to write a script and reading examples will help

Remember you get 1 vote for entering (if you don't place), 10 votes for 1st, 5 for 2nd and 3 for 3rd.

All three judges are allowed to scout the fanfic boards/auditonees and pick a contestant to replace those inactive if they wish.

That's a good deal of info.  Thanks for posting it.  Love that bolded part of Computerfan's final thoughts and not liking how my Group has tasks yet pending.  Guess it's time to shake em up.

Wow, that's really a good chunk of info, fordn1! Thank you. Does everyone know what the extracts are supposed to be? Because I for one am clueless. =P And same, Mama. I'm glad I'm not competing this year. Scripts are so hard to write for me. xD

4-6?  I thought it was 2 - 3?  4 to 6 is a long excerpt, Computerfan.  That is just my opinion but thought I'd throw that out there.

Mine is 5, but two of them are one-liners.

Script? Aw man. I was looking forward to the challenges and now I'm in a puddle of despair. That's so far from my area/comfort zone it's not even funny.

This script challenge reminds me that I really need to work more some more of that Literature homework I need to get done over the summer. At least I can use all the plays that I'll be reading as a reference for how I should write a script. Now the only thing I will need is to create a plot that can span into three parts...

Great, I haven't written a script in three years. This is going to interesting. I'm definitely not going to do a comedy script, because that is simply too expected. I refuse to go with the norm. I will be different! *runs away*

I'm surprised so many people haven't done the PT, interview stuff yet. I just submitted my excerpt which was the last thing I had left to do, but usually I'm late with everything.

The point of the extract is to give people a taste of all the stories and give them enough to judge voting. Not many people have the motivation to go read every fanfic, and you can't choose who to vote for from 2/3 paragraphs. It's been like that all the years I've done this.
