Rembrandt -used to be- Nagasaki Tao -used to be- Saga Pyrex -used to be- Kitakyushu Grandeur -used to be- Asahikawa (but a larger area) Jespin -used to be- SaseboSummer, 2053. Blazing heat. But that's pretty much how it always was in Rembrandt. Always hot. And yet everyone was outside. They were always outside. Why? Because of the Madoshi. Because of the Madoshi, we are forced to live lives filled with work, as slaves. Because of the Madoshi, we are forced to bear the heat, all day, every day. There are no holidays, no days off, and no mercy to those who slack off. The people of Rembrandt used to live happy lives, or, at least, normal lives. But then the Madoshi came and took all freedom away from surrounding towns. Their power, they say, came from a god. They came, and we were powerless. They took away our seasons, leaving summer and its infernal heat. They took away our freedom, taking villagers in groups, bringing them back brainwashed or dead. All the towns had this fate forced upon them. All but one. The city of Asahikawa. The Madoshi were generous with them. The citizens were killed quickly, never having to deal with the torturous aftermath of the Madoshi's destruction. They renamed cities. Asahikawa became their central base, the surrounding area along with it becoming the most widely known city in the world: Grandeur. It wasn't all bad; we had one hour a day before bedtime to do whatever we wanted, although there wasn't much to do. We couldn't talk about the Madoshi, though. Not in any way that would make them look bad. We couldn't disobey them. It'd be suicide to even try. Nobody fought back, at least, not publicly. Until that day...

Chapter 1. Start the Fire, Don't Get Burned I woke up at 7, as always, ready for the day of work. I saw the other nine members of my bunker waking up as well. As the people woke, the loudspeaker in the center of town gave us our duty for the day.
"Rembrandt: Bunker 3- Your assignment is construction of a new bunker. You will board a hover to Jespin and start construction immediately. Fail to do so and you will be severely punished. At the end of the day, you will return to Rembrandt. The hover will arrive at 9 to take you back. If you are not on the train by 9:05, you will be left in Jespin. Thank you."
The collection of groans that came from my bunker was bordering on depressing. As it was, at least five people that left town for their job don't come back, whether it be because they didn't start work immediately or because they were left behind in that town. But construction was the second easiest job. Right behind executioner. All we had to do is build. We even got to visit another town; which was always welcomed as a nice change.
We got ready and filed out into the center field. A Madoshi pulled up in a hover. The large, air traveling vehicle could only be powered by Madoshi, so we never got to use them. As my bunker got ready to jump into the hover, bunker 5's assignment rang out, but it was different than usual.
"Rembrandt: Bunker 5- Your assignment is to- weld-- *static*" Everyone froze. The speaker turned back on. A familiar voice rang through my ears and out the loudspeaker. "All visual contact with the Madoshi are terminated. All power reactors are disabled. The Madoshi are at their weakest here. That means..." the voice paused. "We can now kill any Madoshi that are in Rembrandt. Now listen up, Hover Operating Madoshi. You can't get out. All exits are sealed. You low power Madoshi don't have power here anymore. Have a nice death!"
The speaker shut off. I was the first to come out of shock.
There was a stick from a construction site for bunker 6. I grabbed it, then charged. The Madoshi in the hover held out his hand, a faint glow lighting up his fingertips. But that was it. Before he could summon enough power to blast me, his hand had a massive stick on it, and then his hand, along with his head, smashed against the window.
The other members of my bunker came out of their stupor. Four of them came and kicked the now unconscious Madoshi out of the hover. I grabbed a dagger from the executioner table. I didn't know it then, but that dagger would be with me for a long, long time. I raised the dagger. And the Madoshi exploded.I think I'll post like, once a week or so. Comments on the chapter?

I am editing bits right before I post them. So, yes. You did see a slight change! You're so awesome! You read, like, everyone's stories, but you still notice when something so small is changed! I don't even remember what I changed.

Well, not exactly exploded, but a light enveloped the entire camp, blinding me. When the light finally subsided enough for me to see, I squinted at the Madoshi. My dagger, which I had let go the moment it hit the Madoshi, was now stabbed in a pile of black goo, with a mask as white as snow in the center. But there was another thing.
The dagger was glowing.
I don't know why, but I picked it up and hid it in my work bag. I guess I knew it would be useful. The loudspeaker turned on again.
"Congratulations to Irie Nakamura for being the first person in known history to kill a Madoshi!" The speaker clicked off, and Megumi, my very techology obsessed best friend since before the Madoshi came, ran up to me and bear hugged me.
"Irie!!! I can't believe we killed a Madoshi! The speaker should go back to Madoshi control soon. We'll see what they have to say. Oh, by the way, Kazuma looked REALLY proud of you." Megumi spoke in a stream of words, and I could barely catch all of it. But I caught last part...
Kazuma...
Kazuma, 16, 2 years older than me, and the coolest guy I know. He, Megumi, and I used to hang out pretty much every day before the Madoshi takeover. He was like my big brother. But when the Madoshi came...
"Irie Nakamura, Bunker 3." I waited, resisting the Madoshi's pull as they tried to take me into the bunker, where the rest of the bunker assignments couldn't be heard. "Kazuma Sakaguchi, Bunker 2." Sadness. Then anger. Tears of both sprang into my eyes, but the Madoshi dragged me into the bunker. I only heard one other assignment after that. "Megumi Kitamura, Bunker 2."
I lay sobbing on my bunker, not knowing most of the people in my bunker very well. I was sad, and a little jealous of Megumi at first. But then I realized that there was no use for jealousy. Megumi, who was 15, was probably sad about us all not being in the same bunker. I shouldn't be feeling jealous. But the jealousy consumed me anyway. I couldn't talk to her for a week after that. Once my common sense was back in place, it was too late. The 'Adaptation Period' was over. The amount of talking we could do drastically decreased.
"City 14. Rembrandt. Attention. You are all being placed under arrest, for assaulting and murdering a member of the higher class rank." I groaned. Ranks. I guess I should explain.
The Rank System basically divides the entire population into a series of high, middle, and low class ranks. The higher the rank, the better the benefits. S class is the highest, and consists of the Madoshi Overlord and his council. Then A-class, which consists of the citizens of the Madoshi capitol, Grandeur. Then B-class, the working Madoshi. On and on it goes, until us. The second lowest class. Class K9, basic workers of the Outreach cities, the cities the Madoshi don't pay as much attention to. The class below us didn't have a name. They didn't need one. They were the dead.
"For murdering a B-Class, the penalty is a lifetime sentence in the jail of Tao. Five hovers will be sent to escort you to Tao."
Everyone panicked. Tao. The jail famous for the most deaths. The jail famous for its numerous torture devices. The jail famous for the most ruthless and brutal wardens. I felt my own heart beating fast in my chest.

"Stop freaking out you guys. Don't worry. We've got a plan. Right, Megumi?" I heard someone shout. "'Course we do!" Megumi stepped onto the platform with the loudspeaker on it. "People of Rembrandt. Do not panic! See, Kazuma and I have a plan! We, Outreach City 14, are starting a revolution!" I saw Kazuma step up beside her. "That's right! One sec, guys." Megumi and Kazuma stepped off and started walking towards me.
"How've you been, Irie? I've been worried. I can't believe you killed a Madoshi! That was pretty cool." Kazuma said. I smiled. I took the blade out of my bag and showed them. "It was glowing when I picked it up, but the glow is gone now." I told them. Megumi interrupted whatever Kazuma was going to say with an urgent message. "Guys, we have about 20 minutes until hovers from Tao get here. We have to evacuate. Now." Megumi pointed out.
Then the winds came.
At first it was nice. Although strong, the winds blew away the heat. Then it was too strong. The Madoshi were punishing us, even before we were sent to jail. We weren't going to be able to evacuate.
A giant wall of wind surrounded us. I threw a stick at it. The stick came back, but as a pile of sawdust. There was no wind blowing at as anymore. It was all in the wall.
That's when the first idea I'd had since the Takeover came to my mind. It was crazy, and totally insane. I had no idea how I didn't think of it sooner. After all, no such thing as 'sane' existed anymore. Why not try the boundaries of nature? The laws of the realm of this world didn't work anymore. So I put my idea to the test.
I stabbed the ground with the dagger. A small explosion went off as the area around the dagger crumbled, leaving a small hole. I tested the ground at the bottom with another weapon from the table. This time a scythe. The ground held. I jumped down into the hole and started digging with my hands; I didn't want an explosion from my dagger hitting me in the face. I reached where I thought the wind wall was.
I could feel hard stone. Impossible to dig through. Any explosion would cause a cave in. I started back out the tunnel. I came out and picked up the scythe. Dragging the scythe, I walked to Kazuma. He looked determined to find a way out. I handed him the scythe. He looked down at me and nodded. He knew what I was going to do. And he knew that the only people that would help were him and Megumi.
I went to choose a weapon for Megumi, but she was there first. She was wrapping a wire around what seemed to be a fencing stick. When she reached the hilt, she cut the wire and added the final touch. Her weapon of choice. An electrified fencing stick. I knew how good she was at fencing, so I didn't worry that she chose a hard to use weapon. Plus, anything that hit it would be electrocuted, if she wished it to be. I remember telling her that fencing looked weird when she was in her first lesson. Now I'm glad she took it. Megumi was never very strong, but fencing was technique. Her, Kazuma, and I stepped onto the loudspeaker platform. Kazuma raised his scythe.
"I, Kazuma Sakaguchi, hereby declare war on the Madoshi. When they come to get us, I will fight them." Megumi was next to speak. "I, Megumi Kitamura, also will fight! We should all fight against this. We've been imprisoned too long!" Then it was my turn. "I, Irie Nakamura, am fighting. I swear that even if we lose, I will go down fighting. And I know that we can kill Madoshi. Even if they have all of their power."
As expected, no one joined us. They were too scared to fight a Madoshi with full power. We would never get their support. Kazuma, Megumi, and I were in this alone.Oh yeah, I'm working on a few more stories and songs. Some of my music may come at a time when I think a little break from death and stuff is needed to keep me from becoming suicidal myself. I have an Animal Crossing New Leaf fanfic getting started, and a MineCraft fanfic based on a specific server site(Blockia).

"smart" and "wise" aren't always the same"-Vio, Four Swords Manga
I gripped my dagger tighter. The Madoshi had arrived. Time to fight. As the hover stopped, I saw Kazuma jumping onto the top of the hover. Phase 1 was about to begin.
The first Madoshi stepped out of the hover. Before it could get all the way through the door, Kazuma jumped, his scythe slicing the head of the Madoshi. A blast of wind burst from the Madoshi, and Kazuma's scythe started glowing. I only focused on the glowing weapon a second before running to the open door of the hover. The next Madoshi came out, electricity charging his fingertips. Megumi yelped excitedly, then taunted the Madoshi.
"Are you sure your magical fingers will beat MY skills? Get ready, cause you're about to die! HIYA!!" Megumi shouted, stabbing the Madoshi in the chest. The Madoshi let out a roar and fell to the ground, leaving Megumi's sword with lightning flowing out and around it. Then the next Madoshi walked out, but this one had black fire surrounding it. Or, at least I thought it was black fire. I concentrated, focusing on gaining courage and power. Then I charged.
Too bad that approach failed. The Madoshi pointed at me, and a stream of the black fire shot at me, knocking me back, slamming me against a nearby bunker. I fell to the ground. Megumi and Kazuma yelled my name, but I barely heard them. They charged at the Madoshi together, but the same thing happened. I heard the thump as their bodies slumped on the ground. I tried a last attempt. I staggered back to standing position.
The black fire Madoshi looked at me as I pointed my dagger at it. I was about to charge one last time, but the dagger decided to shoot at the Madoshi instead. The Madoshi, hit with a force equal to a small bomb, crumpled to the ground. I stumbled over to it, and delivered the killing blow. The black fire dissipated into the dagger as the Madoshi exploded.
I stared in shock at the three dead Madoshi. Then I remembered Megumi and Kazuma. I ran over to Kazuma first. He was opening his eyes when I got to him. He smiled weakly as I approached. I helped him up, his weight almost dragging me back down. I struggled, my strength almost running out, when Kazuma's lips brushed against mine. I yelped and dropped him in shock.
"ummm, sorry! I'm so sorry!" I apologized. He just nodded and got up. Once I was sure Kazuma was alright, I walked over to Megumi, who was already getting up on her own. After telling her to meet me in my bunker in ten minutes, I went and picked up the weapons that were dropped. Megumi's fencing stick hummed with electrical energy. Kazuma's scythe gave a gentle breeze. I grabbed both and headed towards the bunker.
When I entered the bunker, I grabbed some work belts from the wall, using my dagger to create a makeshift sheath for Megumi's and my weapon. I didn't know what to do for the scythe, so I just left it. I grabbed another belt and fit the sheath on, tying the belt onto my waist. Megumi already had a belt, so after my belt was on, I sat down to wait for them.
When they arrived, I gave the sheath to Megumi. I told Kazuma that I couldn't figure out how to make a sheath for the scythe, so I just left it. He nodded in understanding and grabbed the scythe, but immediately dropped it. Megumi and I stared at him, until I remembered the wind coming from the curved blade. I hadn't paid much attention to it, as I was still pumped with adrenaline from the battle.
That's when I remembered the way the Madoshi died. I knew there was no special magic coming from the scythe before the Madoshi's death, and I knew that the Madoshi died with wind bursting out of him. I also remembered that the Madoshi I had killed pre-arrest had exploded, and my dagger then demolished multiple things. I took out my dagger and examined it closely for the first time.
The skinny, curved blade was the shape of a Dragonfly Tanto, a Japanese dagger usually used with a katana. It was shorter than the average Dragonfly Tanto, but I didn't mind. I never liked long daggers or swords. I decided I would find another dagger to go in place of a katana. Looking closer, I saw something that looked like black smoke circling the dagger. The last Madoshi I killed used a sort of black flame. The weapons, made from materials the Madoshi brought us whenever a bunker had welding duty, must have absorbed the power of the Madoshi they killed.
But I didn't dwell on it too long. I didn't tell Megumi or Kazuma either. I would tell them when I figured out more about it. Instead, I told them the results of the battle, what had happened while they were unconscious. Then...
"Phase 1 was a success." I announced, loudly, so that any Madoshi listening in would hear. "Now, let Phase 2 begin."

Umm...my iPad is out of battery at the moment, and with a MC Dutch test coming up soon, just getting UTAU, songwriting, and Japanese...and Korean...and others...I'm not going to update as much...but I'll do my best!!! For now, please hold on and read this short bit that I'm going to include as a little break from dead people talk. Before the Madoshi Came: The Story of ****** (hehe, you don't get to know who's perspective this is in just yet...also, the amount of stars aren't the amount of letters in the name) Part 1 Waking up to the sound of an alarm, I rushed out of bed. My first day at a new school! 7th grade awaits! But first...I need to look the part of a Minayoki middle schooler. Speeding towards the bathroom, I heard Megumi yell at me to keep quiet. I payed no attention to that, though. Take a shower, get dressed, brush hair. Then I ran straight to the kitchen...and straight into a counter. Oops. I could barely feel it, though. Excitement coursed through my body, more intense than adrenaline! I seriously can't WAIT for school today!Oh, yeah...this little mini-story is sort of based on the first little OVA thing of Black Rock Shooter...Some weeks I'll include a song or something, as well. Oh...I know this sucked, I wrote it on the spot...
