hello, let's talk about tumblr themes. i love themes!!!!!!!
what do you look for in a tumblr theme? how do you go about choosing a theme? what do you like your sidebar to look like? sidebar image? do you prefer for your title to show or not? what do you like to include in your description? so many questions. wow themes.
I usually keep a theme for a couple of months because I don't like changing it and when I do I always tweak it and it takes me ages. And when people ask me to check their blogs I look at their theme and if I don't like it I don't look at their posts.
For a photo blog, I like ones with a quick reblog button, maybe multiple columns, no captions unless you go to the post, one that doesn't have the notes showing unless you hover on it. When you click on the picture it needs to link to the post, not the click-through link. On the perma page I like it to have a link to the original post and who you reblogged it from. A next page button, even if there is instant scrolling.
For other blogs, I like themes that show the tags as you look through theme, and also the source and notes, I guess. The captions also have to be there. I follow this humour blog that has the Narnia theme, and it's just... there are some things in life that don't belong and this is one of them.
i love redux because it's so customisable and theres loads of super nice edits of it!!! i like themes that are really customisable yet still clear and good looking and show tags (because many bloggers such as myself keep our unnecessary comments within the tags)
i dont like really any of the themes in the theme garden thing theyre too complicated and ugly imo :\\ (especially organ??? why is that even a theme .)

^ i've one of those right now because i like transparent images for sidebars but in the past i looked for themes with sidebars on the left and customizable color schemes. i also like the redux edits by dollcity (i think?) that enable you to put images as permalinks like kingies' do.
