Chapter 15

Clyde yelped in surprise and ducked behind Pekoe, while the others gulped as the Reaper floated over to them, twirling his scythe between his cold, bony fingers. Two flashing red lights that weren't there before lit up on the Reaper’s makeshift face, posing as two eerily creepy eyes. Aimee noticed the aura surrounding him growing darker, matching his evidently sour mood towards the group. She didn't think the Reaper had the ability to possess any emotions, but everyone could tell that he was angrier than he supposedly let on. Either way, things weren't looking good for them. They were cornered.

I have been trying to hunt you kids down for too long now…” Clyde shuddered underneath Pekoe’s shoulders, the panda bear cub turning and patting his arm comfortingly despite being freaked out herself. By this point Aimee and Izzy were shivering as well as they hugged each other fearfully, clutching the other tightly for support. Callum only stood there and stared at the Reaper, a bemused expression crossing his scowling face as he tilted his head a smidge. He tapped his chin in wonder as he gazed into the Reaper’s spooky, diminutive red eyes, appearing to be deep in thought.

“Wait, you could talk this whole time?” he asked bluntly. “Since when?” The Reaper awkwardly scratched his head, his thick black cloak sliding up his arm and revealing his thin, skeletal fingers.

Uh…since about five seconds ago.” Everyone blinked in surprise, but nodded in understanding and simply brushed it off. “Anyway…it is past time for you to disappear…” Everyone shrieked and dove in all different directions to dodge the Reaper as he moved in and began swinging his scythe at them. They continued to crawl and barrel roll out of the way while the Reaper continued his ominous rampage. As much as they had avoided him and wanted to get away from him, the Reaper kept on coming at them, and soon they were starting to grow tired.

“We have to get out of here!” Aimee cried, leaping over a fetal positioned Clyde to avoid being struck by the scythe again.

“Yeah, but the portal’s been closed off!” Izzy replied from behind a large rock. “And the Reaper’s constantly in our way, so we’re trapped!”

“Eek!” Pekoe yelped, craning her neck, the Reaper just missing her head by an inch. A slashing sound was heard, followed by a cry of pain.

“Callum!” Aimee exclaimed, running over to his keeled over form. Callum had been sliced in the stomach, not enough for him to vanish but still leaving a deep cut in his abdomen. “Callum, are you okay?”

“Aside from the bleeding from my stomach, yeah I guess,” Callum replied, with a sarcastic laugh. “No really, I’m in serious pain.”

“That looks like a critical injury,” Izzy commented from behind her rock, watching Callum fall over with worried eyes. She practically lost her breath when she saw the blood seeping through his skull short and down his stomach, eventually dripping onto the ground. “We need to tear down that wall!” Izzy ran over to the newly rebuilt stone wall, frantically yanking the rocks off the wall in a desperate attempt to reopen the swirling portal. Pekoe and Clyde jumped up and rushed over to help her, while Aimee remained at Callum’s side, kneeling and cradling his head on her legs. She ripped off a piece of her rainbow shirt and gently wrapped it around Callum’s stomach to stop the bleeding, while she and him looked on and watched as their friends continued tearing away at the stones sealing off the portal. Soon enough they successfully removed all of the rocks from the wall, and once again yellow light filled the otherwise shadowy cave.

“Go guys, go!” Aimee yelled to them, while fixing the temporary bandage on Callum’s wound. Izzy started into the bright light, when she paused and turned to Aimee and Callum.

“Come on, Aimee!” she commanded fiercely. “Get Callum up and get over here!” Aimee nodded and slowly began to pull Callum up. Callum winced in pain from the cut on his stomach, gripping onto Aimee’s shoulder tightly as a crutch as he let her lift him to his feet. Aimee wrapped his arm around her shoulder to steady him as they hobbled over to the swirling yellow portal, which was now wide open again. Again Izzy reached for the yellow light as she started for the portal once more. “Everyone! Into the portal! Go! Go! Go! G-” Izzy stopped again at another slitting sound. She turned to find the source, when her eyes widened and her gut dropped. Aimee gasped when she saw it too, her blood instantly running cold at the sight.

“Oh crap…” Callum murmured to himself.

“Oh no! Clyde!” Pekoe exclaimed in anguish, the tears pouring out of her eyes like mini waterfalls.

“G-Go…go on without me, huyuk…” came Clyde’s weak voice, his body hunched over in pain from the scythe that just pierced through it. Blood started to run everywhere and the Reaper’s deep, evil chuckle bounced off the cave walls. Clyde’s soul shot out from his back, and the yellow horse collapsed to the ground.

“No! Clyde! Don’t go!” Aimee cried out, desperately reaching out to her dying companion with her free hand. It was all she could say – it was all anyone could say – as Clyde’s body faded away, leaving nothing behind.

Chapter 16

Pekoe was still crying over Clyde’s death, blubbering about how he was so young, how he didn’t deserve to die, and that she missed him already. The others stood there in shock, staring and blinking at the empty space where Clyde used to be with blank, hollow eyes. Even with Pekoe bawling her eyes out, a pin drop could be heard throughout the cave at that moment. Everyone else slowly tilted their heads to exchange bleak, solemn glances, the Reaper’s dark laughter traveling in one of their ears and out the other. Finally Izzy opened her mouth to speak.

“We have to get out of here!” she cried, preparing to dive into the unknown portal. “Now! Before he kills us too! Everyone flee for your lives! Get moving!” Izzy roughly nudged the sobbing Pekoe closer to the portal before jumping into it herself, disappearing into the shimmering yellow light. Pekoe sniffled, but gave a quick nod.

“O-Okay…” Pekoe wiped her eyes before also leaping into the portal, entering the light herself. Aimee and Callum turned to each other, their eyes filled with certainty as they simultaneously gave each other an affirmative nod.

“Well, I get we’d better get going then,” Aimee said, craning her neck to gesture towards the portal. She and Callum started moving towards the portal, Callum walking more upright with his injury healing but still holding on to Aimee. “Almost there…” Aimee mumbled to herself as they inched closer to the portal. “Just a few more steps…” They had stepped in front of the portal, but were knocked off their feet just as quickly. The Reaper halted them in their tracks when he swiftly flew in front of them, as they saw when they gazed up at him from the ground. Much to their dismay, he was now blocking off the portal, cutting them off from freedom and potentially pushing them toward their deaths. Aimee gulped, Callum glaring at the Reaper contemptuously.

You kids won’t be allowed to escape…” The Reaper remained standing guard in front of the yellow portal, but he extended a ghostly hand towards the children, pointing his scythe in their faces to leave their backs against the wall, rendering them immobile.

“Uh oh…” Aimee murmured softly.

“You got that right,” Callum muttered, loud enough for her to hear. “Now we’re in trouble.” The scythe gracefully moved in the Reaper’s hand as he slowly crept closer to Aimee and Callum, the scythe drawing closer to them along with him. Callum grunted as he leaned back to avoid the scythe cutting into his shoulder. They hurried to their feet and began carefully sidestepping the dangerous weapon in an attempt to seek a way around their potential executioner. The Reaper caught on to this and started to rapidly sway back and forth, continuing to block them before they even found a single opening.

“Ugh, we’re getting absolutely nowhere this way,” Aimee said, with a small hint of annoyance. “Izzy and Pekoe are waiting for us. We need this guy to move it so we’re not stuck here forever.” Callum let out a deep sigh and shook his head.

“We’re just going to have to make a break for it.” Callum ran as fast as his injury would allow him towards the portal, ducking his head underneath the scythe and darting behind the Reaper, out of eyesight. Aimee followed suit, running full speed and effortlessly skirting around the Reaper. Callum was about to jump into the portal, but was forced to stop when a thin, bony hand lashed out and grabbed his shoulder, roughly yanking him back. Aimee stumbled as she made herself stop short behind Callum, nearly tripping over the scythe that was again blocking her path. She groaned as she facepalmed in agitation. They were still going nowhere. Callum struggled against the Reaper’s tight grip, clutching his stomach to avoid reopening his nearly closed wound while the Reaper moved his scythe closer to Callum’s chest. Aimee turned and reached over for Callum’s hands, grasping them to try and pull him free from the Reaper’s clutches. As hard as she tried, however, she was unable to pry him from the Reaper’s cold, dead hands. She pulled and pulled, but no such luck. The Reaper refused to release Callum. For someone with a skeleton for a body, he seemed to have a steel grip, Aimee noticed. “I think you’re going to have to leave without me, Aimee,” Callum said dismally, but Aimee shook her head.

“No way! I am not leaving without you,” the pink-haired girl protested, still pulling on Callum’s arms. He only budged a little. “I wanted us to all leave this place together. I can’t just leave you behind.”

“I’m serious Aimee!” Callum snapped, harsher than he intended. “I know I’m going to die here, but I don’t want you to meet the same fate!” Aimee raised her eyebrows in disbelief.

“But Callum, I-” Aimee was rendered speechless when Callum took a tiny step forward (all he could do with the Reaper restraining him) and pressed his lips against hers. Aimee blinked in surprise, her eyes widened as Callum held the kiss for almost two minutes. “C-Callum…why?”

“I don’t want to see you die. I simply couldn’t bear it,” Callum replied, hanging his head solemnly. Also, I’ve never kissed a girl before… “Now, go! Go!”

“Wait, Callum! You-” Callum wouldn’t let her protest again. He lifted his head; his eyes locked with Aimee’s as he lunged forward with his leftover strength and firmly pushed her into the portal. Aimee reached out to Callum one last time, his name escaping her lips once more before she stumbled backwards and disappeared into the swirling yellow light.

Chapter 17

There was only darkness.

Hollow, empty darkness.

The portal’s shimmering yellow light instantly turned to black once Aimee crossed through it, leaving her in a shadowed limbo that seemed endless. Aimee floated there aimlessly, neither knowing where she was or where she was going. Patiently she lingered in the dark abyss, letting her body lie there idly while she waited for (and half-expected) a change in environment. Sure enough, moments later the darkness was replaced with a bright, blinding white light, and Aimee knew she was about to reach her destination. Now the question was, where would she wind up?

Lauren and Rosie were walking along the dirt path in between each town. After leaving Liana’s place, they had gone home and called it a day, but now they were back out first thing in the morning, more than ready to continue their search. They were on their way to Spotswood, the next neighboring town, in the hopes of finding their friend and bringing her home to Riverside. They had reached Spotswood’s town gate and were about to pass through it, when they were blinded by a flashing white light, stopping them in their tracks. They closed their eyes and shielded their faces as they waited for the light to clear. Once the glaring light subsided, they opened their eyes and looked again to find a more subtly glowing white portal floating midair, spinning in place like a pinwheel.

“What the heck is that?!” Lauren exclaimed, pointing at the mysterious portal with her mouth agape.

“I don’t know!” Rosie replied, her eyes nearly bugging out in a mixture of shock and amazement. “But let’s see if anything pops out of it. Who knows – it might help us find Aimee!” As Rosie said this, a short, chubby human figure emerged from the portal, clumsily stumbling out and pushing herself to stand upright. The moment they saw her pink hair, Lauren and Rosie instantly recognized her.

“Aimee!” The two girls ran over to hug their disheveled, weary friend, who smiled and tiredly returned the warm embrace, while the swirling portal disappeared into the oblivion.

“Hey guys…” Aimee greeted them, her eyes filled with relief and bliss when she met her two dear friends from back home. “How’ve you been?”

“Oh, we missed you so much, Aimee!” Rosie cried, pulling the pink-haired girl into another tight hug. “We were so worried about you!”

“Where have you been?” Lauren asked, a hint of suspicion in her otherwise chipper tone. “Nobody had seen you leave town or anything! We were looking everywhere for you!”

“Yeah, and where did that weird portal come from?” Rosie questioned, her dark eyes blinking with curiosity. “I swear, it’s like you dropped off the face of the planet!” At this Aimee couldn’t help but giggle to herself.

“You know, sometimes I think I did.” Rosie and Lauren stared at her in bemusement, clueless about the treacherous adventure she had experienced and reason behind her disappearance to that dark place. Aimee took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts as she prepared to spill to her friends about everything she had been through, from being sent to Deletion, to the people she met there, to their means of escape, when she heard another voice calling out to her from behind.

“Hey! Aimee!”

Aimee knew that voice. She didn’t need to turn around, but she did to find Izzy walking towards her, with Pekoe at her heels.

“Izzy!” Aimee blinked in surprise, but then smiled at Izzy, happy to see her after everything that happened in the cave with the Reaper.

“Glad to see you made it out okay too,” Izzy said, nodding and grinning back at her companion. Pekoe poked her head out from behind Izzy and waved to Aimee. The pink-haired human smiled and returned the kind gesture, when her eyes went wide as in that moment she remembered something – rather, someone.

“Callum!” she exclaimed, gaping in horror, her pupils dilating and her skin paling. “Oh my gosh! What could have happened to him?”

“He didn’t come back with you?” Izzy asked, her eyebrows raised with concern. Aimee shook her head.

“We have to get him back!” The following moment the flashing white portal reappeared, and everyone gasped and stared at it in anticipation. Nothing happened at first, but shortly afterwards someone else popped out of the portal, landing swiftly on his feet and sighing with relief. As if they weren’t already surprised, Izzy’s and Aimee’s jaws dropped open.

“Hey, look, it’s Callum!” Pekoe exclaimed, before turning to see the portal vanish once again. Izzy’s eyes widened further, but lit up happily. Excitedly Aimee ran over and hugged Callum.

“Callum!” she exclaimed, nearly choking him from hugging him so tightly. “You’re back! You’re back!”

“And his wound is healed,” Izzy noted, pointing to Callum’s stomach that was now closed up. “So does this mean you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine now,” Callum replied with a nod, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. Aimee was beaming with happiness from seeing Callum again, but she pulled away and stared at Callum with a look of curiosity.

“How did you escape?” she asked him in wonder. “The Reaper was just about to kill you.” Callum grinned cheekily, scratching his head sheepishly as he let out a small chuckle.

“I bribed him with apples,” he answered with another laugh. “I had a few left in my pocket from one of the trees Clyde planted. Who knew that bringers of death could be fruit-lovers?” Izzy stared perplexedly at him, but nodded in approval. Aimee giggled in delight and hugged him again. Meanwhile Lauren and Rosie were standing there awkwardly with no idea as to what was going on, not a clue as to who these strange people were. Aimee and her companions silently exchanged glances, until Izzy cleared her throat and posed the long-anticipated, but seemingly ambiguous question to them.

“So…we’re all free now. We made it back. But where do we go from here?”

OMG SOMEONE GOT THE DEATH NOTE REFERENCE! SWEET!

Yeah, I've been watching Death Note (anyone else seen it? it's awesome), and I got the idea from that since Clyde planted apple trees so they'd have food, so I went with it. But yay for you for getting the reference! 8D

Anyway, the next chapter's going to be the last one. It'll be a bit lengthier than the more recent chapters since there's a few more things I want to cover before it's 'The End', but it'll wrap things up nicely. :3

Chapter 18

The group stood there in contemplation, all wondering the same thing. They didn’t think far enough into their journey out of the deleted realm, so they really had no clue. Lauren and Rosie exchanged concerned glances and hurried over to Aimee, Rosie grabbing the pink-haired girl’s spherical hand.

“Aimee, you’re coming back to Riverside, right?” Lauren asked her friend. “We want you to come back. We were freaking out when we realized you were gone.” She gasped when Aimee shook her head.

“Aimee, you have to come back with us!” Rosie exclaimed, gripping the girl’s hand tighter. “You can’t leave us all over again! Riverside is your home!”

“Riverside was my home, Rosie,” Aimee corrected her sadly. Everyone could see her face fall. “But it’s not anymore. I can’t go back there because I’m not wanted there anymore.”

“What?! Not wanted there?!” Rosie cried out in disbelief. “Of course you’re wanted there! Everyone in town loves you so much!”

“It’s not about the residents not liking her,” Izzy cut in. “The player for some reason just didn’t feel the need to keep her there I’m guessing.” Lauren blinked, tilting her head in thought from confusion.

“Player…?” Rosie opened her mouth to interject again, when she caught a glimpse of Callum’s sour-looking scowl. Creeped out by his frowning face she jumped in surprise, jitters running up and down her spine like tiny ants. Shifting uncomfortably in her stance, Rosie quickly closed her mouth and casually turned away from him.

“The player is the person above who controls the town,” Izzy explained. “They decide not only who comes, but who goes.” Aimee nodded.

“That’s right,” she chimed back in. “I was deleted from Riverside, so I can never return there. Even if I wanted to go back, I have to go somewhere else.” Rosie pouted, her ears drooping in disappointment. Lauren’s face contorted with worry, her eyes blinking vigorously to hold back any tears from possibly falling.

“But…where will you go?” Rosie asked, with an added sniffle. “Where are you going to live?” Aimee shrugged.

“I don’t know yet,” she answered, more to herself than her friends. But she smiled at them. “Don’t worry, I’ll find a new place to call home.” Izzy crossed over to Aimee’s side and placed a comforting arm around her companion’s shoulder, smiling at her with encouragement. Lauren also smiled at Aimee, only with sadness, as she brought her old roommate in for a hug.

“Well, I guess this is goodbye then,” the blonde human said, wiping away a stray tear. “Safe travels.”

“Best of luck to you!” Rosie added, her chipper tone sounding forced.

“Hey,” Aimee replied, turning to hug the blue cat. “This isn’t goodbye. I’m not dead. I may not be able to come back to Riverside, but you guys can visit me in my new town.” At this Lauren and Rosie nodded.

“Right,” they said together in unison.

“Well, I guess we should be on our way then,” Izzy said, waving the group away. “Let’s go.” They nodded and started to follow Izzy, and in turn Lauren and Rosie turned to head back home.

“Bye guys!” Aimee called back to her friends, waving to them before running off after Izzy and the others. The girls stopped to smile and wave back before continuing on their way. Aimee glanced over her shoulder for one last look at Lauren and Rosie, waiting until they were out of sight before turning back around.

“All right, so let’s find us a new home,” Izzy said, clapping her hands together as she began scoping out the nearby territory.

After walking for a few hours, searching through almost ten miles worth of towns and unoccupied territory, the group stumbled upon an old, run-down town that appeared to have been long abandoned. They decided that it was the perfect place to build their new town, as they already had a foundation to work off of. They quickly got to work, fixing up the old, empty buildings, building new bridges, and planting more trees and flowers (clearing the weeds as they went along), livening up the once dead town.

“You know, we could probably use a name for our new town,” Callum said, while repairing the roof on a tiny blue house.

“Yeah, I’ve been meaning to come up with a name for this place,” Izzy replied, plucking dead flowers and weeds every other word. “What did this town used to be called?”

“No idea,” Pekoe piped up, walking over with a bundle of wood for Callum. “There was no sign with the old town’s name on it. I guess it disappeared or something.”

“I guess we’ll come up with a new one then,” Izzy said, turning and planting a bed of yellow pansies. “I was thinking Rubyville.”

“I love it!” Pekoe chirped, nodding in approval. “Rubies are so pretty. It’s my favorite gemstone.”

“I like that name,” Aimee agreed, just as she was finishing fixing a window on an old clothes shop. “It’s catchy, it sounds cool, and it’s a pretty name.”

“I’m fine with whatever you guys want,” Callum responded nonchalantly. Izzy nodded.

“All right, Rubyville it is, then!” she chimed happily. “Awesome.”

“You know, Izzy…” Aimee said, turning and grinning at the brunette human. “We’re going to need a mayor to efficiently run this town.” She winked at Izzy, who beamed and practically exploded with happiness.

“I’ll do it!” she exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air. “I have all of the qualifications and experience to be the mayor.” She paused, remembrance flashing in her eyes as she stopped to think. Still deep in contemplation, Izzy slowly rose to her feet and turned to head for the town gate. “I…have to go. I’ll be back later.” With that, she ran off, leaving the others stunned and confused.

“Wait, Izzy, where are you going?” Aimee asked, clambering to her feet and chasing after her friend. Izzy stopped for a moment, and Aimee could see a mischievous glint in Izzy's blue eyes.

“Before I settle in here, there’s something I need to do,” Izzy answered, her eyes on the ground for a moment while they darted in a shifty manner. She continued running once again, leaving Aimee only to shrug her shoulders in the dust.

Over in Woodsville, Liana was holed up in her office at Town Hall, curled up in her swivel chair and sipping coffee while she sifted through stacks of official documents and other papers. She let out a tired sigh as she flipped her long, black hair behind her. She was having a long day, and she was just about ready to go home and take it easy for the rest of the night. Still, it was just another day for her as the mayor of Woodsville.

Outside, Izzy was hiding behind an apple tree, twirling a rusty, dented axe in her hands as she peered into the window, watching Liana with glowering eyes. She had been spying on Liana like a hawk for almost twenty minutes, patiently biding her time while Liana worked.

“Wench,” Izzy muttered under her breath, her eyes narrowing as her glare intensified. “I’ll mess her up. No. I’ll do more than that.”

Liana started humming to herself as she finished sorting through the papers and filed them in a plastic bin stored underneath her desk, when there was a sudden smash. Liana turned to see what it was, when the next thing she realized was that someone was towering over her, someone who she thought she had gotten rid of a long time ago.

Now, someone who wielded an axe and looked very angry.

“You thought you could delete me and just kill me off like that,” Izzy said through gritted teeth, her lips curled up in a devious, psychotic smirk despite her eyes wild and crazy with fury.

Very, very angry.

For a moment Liana blinked at Izzy in surprise, her jaw hitting the floor, but she quickly leapt to her feet and bolted for the door. Izzy chased her around the room for several minutes before she finally tackled her to the floor and began bludgeoning her on the head with the axe.

“Ow! Ow! Ow!” Liana cried in agony with each blow, Izzy laughing maniacally simultaneously as she continued to bash Liana’s head, beating her banisher senseless. Liana was slowly becoming lightheaded, losing not only her energy to fight back but also her blood, which was now staining the wooden floor and spreading. Her face was barely recognizable anymore with the blood and bruises (including a black eye) caked over it. “P…Please stop…” Liana moaned, writhing on the floor in pain. “I-I’m sorry. Just…please stop.”

“Oh, don’t worry, I will,” Izzy said with a cheeky, twisted grin. She brought the axe down on Liana for one final blow, and in one swift motion decapitated her so-called friend who sent her to the deleted world, killing her in seconds. With a satisfied “Humph”, Izzy dropped the axe and climbed out the window, leaving Liana’s body to be discovered by her assistants. Cackling to herself, Izzy ran away from Town Hall, the panicked yelling of the other Town Hall workers already ringing in her ears.

“Oh my gosh! The mayor is dead!”

“Holy crap, she’s been beheaded!”

“The mayor’s been murdered! Somebody help!”

Izzy darted through her old town until she swiftly snuck past the guards and slipped through the town gate, completely unnoticed. She assumed that everyone at Town Hall was making a huge scene over Liana’s death while she walked back to the newly founded Rubyville, whistling innocently before breaking into giggle fits. She casually strolled through her new town’s gates and sauntered over to her friends – now neighbors – who were busy raising their new town flag, a sparkling red ruby on an equally shimmering silver backdrop. Izzy smiled in approval as she rejoined the group, casually resting her arm on Pekoe’s shoulder while waving to Aimee with her other hand.

“So, what did I miss?”

Later on, Aimee just finished planting a rose garden around her new house. It was a little white abode with a wooden door and a pink roof, complete with a red mailbox outside and roses of all colors surrounding the front lawn. Aimee smiled as she admired her handiwork for a moment, before she turned around and left. She was on her way to Town Hall to assist Izzy with redecorating the office when an arm caught hers and pulled her behind a tree, where she was met with some instant smooching.

“Callum!” she exclaimed in surprise, giggling as she broke the kiss. “Oh my gosh, you scared me!” Callum’s eyes widened as he turned away, scratching his head sheepishly.

“Sorry, I just wanted to say hi,” he replied, his face flushed red.

“Well that’s one way to say it,” Aimee said, with another hearty laugh before continuing. “So…back when we were in the cave it sounded like you actually cared about me. Was all of that true?” Callum awkwardly hesitated, the blush deepening on his face.

“Um…well, yes, I did,” he answered, rather shyly for his usually brash character. “I still do. I meant all of it back then and I do now. I…I guess you could say that I love you.” Aimee stared at Callum in shock for a moment, her eyes bugged out and her jaw on the ground, before she squealed and hugged him, nearly knocking him over.

“Oh, Callum! That is so sweet!” she exclaimed giddily, her face now the same shade of red as she pulled away to face him. “I guess you could say I love you too.” With that she kissed Callum on the cheek and skipped away merrily, calling back to him, “We’ll have our first date soon!” But Callum barely heard her. He was too deep into his thoughts, processing what just happened. His mind even went blank for a moment, but once he snapped back to his senses he relaxed, feeling instantly at peace. He and Aimee were in love and the group is starting fresh in a new town. Life will be good now… He casually walked over to a nearby pond and gazed into the clear blue water for a short peek at his reflection, but he couldn’t believe what he saw. There was something on his face that was never there before.

It was a smile.

The End.
