Welcome to the first edition of our Special Character Profile series. Today we're going to take an in-depth look at a character we've all probably met, or at least seen around our town once or twice before, so without further ado, let's check out the long eyelashed camel, better known as Saharah!
Saharah
Saharah can visit your town on any random weekday and will stay there from 6am all the way to midnight! You can find out if Saharah is in town by talking to Booker, or you just may see a camel walking around with a backpack full of carpets and wallpapers. If Saharah is in your town for the day, talk to her and she will ask you to collect old wallpaper or old carpets for her. This will differ each time she visits. After you talk to her for the first time, you can go around town and ask your villagers for old carpets or wallpapers. If you bring Saharah one or two carpets/wallpapers, she'll exchange them for a new carpet/wallpaper. If you're lucky enough to scrounge up three carpets/wallpapers, Saharah will give you one of her rare designs which are only obtainable from her and unorderable. Below is a list of all the Saharah exclusive carpets and wallpapers.
Carpets
Western Desert Lunar Surface Closed Road Boxing Ring Mat Classroom Floor Bath Tile Chessboard Rug Tatami Floor Mossy Carpet Sand Garden Concrete Basement Floor Music-Room Office Flooring Ancient Tile Daisy Meadow Tropical Floor Saharah's Desert Sandlot Sidewalk
Wallpapers
Western Vista Lunar Horizon Blue Tarp Ringside Seating Classroom Wall Bathhouse Wall Backgammon Wall Shoji Screen Garden Wall Mortar Wall Basement Wall Music-Room Wall Office Wall Ancient Wall Industrial Wall Meadow Vista Tropical Vista Desert Vista Tree-Lined Wall
Tips
- Sometimes you won't be able to get three carpets/wallpapers within one visit. If that's the case, save them for Saharah's next visit. - Sick villagers, villagers that are moving or just moved in, or villagers that have lost their key will not allow you to ask them for old carpet/wallpaper. - If you are in a friend's town, you can talk to Saharah and give her old carpets/wallpapers that you have, but note that you cannot get old carpets/wallpapers from the villagers of the town. - Each character in your town can get their own old carpet/wallpaper from villagers and their own carpet/wallpaper from Saharah in return.
Fun Facts
- Saharah's name in the Japanese version of the game is Rolland. - Saharah is male in the Japanese version of the game. - Villagers sometimes spread rumors about Saharah, such as her having a "big nose" and "long eyelashes. Some villagers say they've even seen her performing at the Marquee! - The Basement Floor is the only Saharah exclusive that you can get without getting it from Saharah first. It comes with your basement when you upgrade. - You can put up old carpets and old wallpaper up in your house, though it looks pretty bad.
Welcome to the second edition of our special character profile series! Today, we'll take a good look at a new character to the Animal Crossing series. This character comes once a month during the summer to hold a special event, similar to the Fishing Tourneys, only it's called the Bug-Off. Without further ado, let's take a look at Nat!
Nat
Nat is a chameleon who runs the Bug-Off in your town each month during the summer. Nat will be in your town from 6am to 12am, but the Bug-Off itself only runs from 9am to 6pm. Aside from hosting the Bug-Off, Nat happens to be the judge of the Bug-Off as well. If you give Nat a bug, he will score it. Basically, the biggest, rarest bug can win. If you submit a bug to Nat, he'll analyze it and give it a point value. If the point value beats the current record, you will get a prize. If your record lasts until the end of the Bug-Off, you'll get a golden bug trophy in the mail. Unlike, Chip, Nat doesn't eat the bugs on the spot, but who knows if he eventually does once you're out of sight...
Tips
-Some of the biggest rarest bugs are not out during the Bug-Off time period. If you wish, you can catch a bug beforehand, save it, and submit it during the Bug-Off. -The rarest bug does not always win, but neither does the biggest. It's a competition of size and rarity. -When submitting bugs, always submit the smaller or less rare ones first. This way, you have a better chance of breaking multiple records and getting more prizes. -The Hercules Beetle is known to have the highest point value, at 120.
Fun Facts
-Nat's name in the Japanese version of the game is Kameyama-san. -Sometimes villagers imitate Nat by making chomping or slurping sounds, similar to how Chip burps. This may lead to the idea that Nat does eat your bugs when you're not looking. -Under the tent, on the table is a picture of Nat trying to catch a Birdwing Butterfly with is mouth, which happens to be the highest scoring bug that can be caught during the hours of the Bug-Off.
Welcome to the third edition of our Special Character Profile series. Today we're going to take an in-depth look at a character we've all probably met, or at least seen around our town at least once or twice before, so without further ado, let's check out the ever-hungry walrus, better known as Wendell!
Wendell
Wendell can visit your town on any random weekday and will stay there from 6am all the way to midnight! You can find out if Wendell is in town by talking to Booker, or you just may see a walrus walking around with an umbrella on his back and an artboard in his hand. Upon talking to Wendell, you will find out that he is hungry and is looking for food. If you feed him anything that is edible, like fish, fruit, or candy, he will give you a rare Wendell exclusive pattern!
Patterns
Check out ACC's ACCF Wendell Guide for information on what patterns Wendell gives out and how to get them!
Tips
- Wendell only gives out one pattern per character per day. If you want more patterns, load up other characters and give Wendell more food to get another pattern! - There are some food items that Wendell won't eat. These items are: Arapaima, Coelacanth, Hammerhead Shark, Napoleon Fish, Ocean Sunfish, Shark, Stringfish, Anniversary Cake.
Fun Facts
- Wendell's name in the Japanese version of the game is Seiichi. - You can give Wendell any item in your pockets, but he will only eat edible foods. - In ACGC, Wendell used to give out Wallpapers in exchange for fish.
Welcome to the fourth edition of our Special Character Profile series. Today we'll be taking a peek at a well known musician in the Animal Crossing world. A common visitor at the local coffee shop and with a repertoire of over seventy songs, I bring to you Totakeke, more popularly known as K.K. Slider!
K.K. Slider
K.K. Slider is a jam playing dog that comes to the Roost every Saturday night from 7:30pm to Midnight, but won't start performing until 8:00pm. The first time you visit K.K., he'll play a random song for you. Any subsequent visits after that, you can either request a song to play for you or tell him the mood that you're in and he'll match a song to your mood. After each performance, K.K. will give you an aircheck that you can put in a music listening device and play back at your pad.
K.K. Songs
You can find the list of all of K.K. Slider's songs at the bottom of ACC's K.K. Slider Song Guide!
Tips
- K.K. Slider will play music over WiFi but only the host will get the song that the host requests. - K.K. will play an unlimited amount of times, but one can only get one aircheck per night, per character. - If requesting a song, make sure you spell it correctly. Requesting is also case sensitive as well. - There are three songs that are request only songs. They are Stale Cupcakes, Spring Blossoms, and Wandering.
Fun Facts
- K.K. Slider's name in the Japanese version of the game is... Totakeke! - If you mispell a song or do not use the correct case when requesting, K.K. will play one of three "dud" songs. Unfortunately, these dud songs do not come with airchecks, but you do get the chance to still get an aircheck afterwards. - When requesting some of the request only songs, K.K. may give a different response. I got two unique responses, one from requesting Spring Blossoms, in which K.K. referenced an ACGC islander named June; the other responses were from requesting Stale Cupcakes and Wandering in which K.K. was shocked that I knew those rare tunes. - There are a total of 75 K.K. Slider songs. If you want to collect them all, it will take awhile. - One of K.K.'s songs, Forest Life, is one of the themes from ACGC. - Occasionally, characters in the city will spread a rumor about Phineas being K.K. Slider's day job.
Welcome to our fifth edition of our Special Character Profile series! Today we'll be talking about a very prevalent character, that many of us may completely forget about, especially if we're not the morning type. Without this person, many people would have to figure out how to make bells a different way. Swinging by town every Sunday, let's take a look at ol' Sow Joan.
Joan
Sow Joan, or just Joan in the more recent games, is a boar that comes to town every Sunday morning, 6am-12pm to be exact, to sell turnips. Joan comes fully packed with an unlimited amount of white turnips that one can buy, in bunches of ten, or one pack of red turnip seeds. You'd think she'd be smart enough to bring more... White Turnips can range from 90 to 110 bells a piece, and the price will vary week by week. Red Turnip seeds will always cost 1,000 bells. One can talk to Booker to see if Joan is in town, but her times do not vary, so once you know what day and when she comes, it shouldn't be a problem remembering.
The Stalk Market
Turnips are a very essential part of the game because it allows one to take part in the Stalk Market. Monday through Saturday, Nook will have two turnip prices a day: AM and PM, and this price will change everyday at noon. It is essential to check both of these prices if you are trying to sell your turnips for the best profit. It also helps to know the different stalk market trends. One can also go out of town and sell at a friend's town if they so please. Be wary though, if you do not sell your turnips by Saturday evening, they will rot the next day at 6AM Sunday morning. For more detailed information on the Stalk Market, visit the High Turnip Prices & Turnip Trend Discussion - ACCF/ACLgttC Version. You can also check out the Stalk Market Wizard to help track your weekly stalk market trends.
Red Turnips
Red Turnips are a different type of turnip, introduced in ACWW. Red Turnips are bought as seeds from Joan. One has to plant this seed and water the red turnip everyday to get it to grow. If the red turnip is neglected water for even one day, it will wither and rot away. Care for it and let it grow and after six days, it will be its biggest size and can be sold to Nook for a good profit. Below are the prices Nook will buy for red turnips according to size.
0 days - 2 bells 1 day - 100 bells 2 days - 500 bells 3 days - 2,000 bells 4 days - 4,000 bells 5 days - 8,000 bells 6+ days - 16,000 bells
Tips
- Playing the Stalk Market is pretty much the only way to make a massive amount of bells in a decent amount of time. Invest a lot of bells, and one can sometimes sextuple their investment. - The lowest amount recorded that Nook will buy turnips for has been 28. - Nook will not buy turnips for any higher than 700 bells. - Withered red turnips can be restored by watering with a Silver Watering Can, but the growth process will start over. - Time traveling is said to affect the turnip prices, and prevent Joan from selling red turnips seeds for the week.
Fun Facts
- Joan's name is Kaburiba in the Japanese version of the game. - In ACGC, Joan's name was Sow Joan. - In ACGC, Joan is one of the first characters seen in the game, sleeping on your train ride to town. - Sometimes villagers make comments when Joan is in town about flustering her.
Today, I bring you the sixth edition of our Special Character Profile series! Today, we will turn our focus to a certain shady character that only visits town once a year. This character, who only makes an appearance at night, has a large sweet tooth. I now introduce the famed pumpkin head, the Czar of Halloween, Jack!
Jack
Jack is a pumpkin headed character, whose true identity is completely unknown, that comes every Halloween evening to participate in the fun around town. Jack will be in town from 6pm to Midnight. Throughout the month of October, Nook's store will be selling candy in preparation for Halloween. If you give Jack a piece of candy, he will hand over a piece of the Spooky series. Sound easy enough? The trick is that all of the villagers in town are dressed like Jack too, and will want your candy as well. They will run up to you trying to get the sugary morsels. If you do not give candy to either the villagers or Jack, something very bad will happen to you....
Halloween
For more info on how to survive on Halloween, check out the Halloween Strategy Guide posted by iolite!
Tips
- Either wear a full look on Halloween or only a pattern. If you do not, your clothes shirt will be turned into a moldy shirt or a patched shirt. You hats/accessories will be turned into a pumpkin head. - If wearing a full look or a pattern, an item at random in your pocket will be turned into a Jack-in-the-box, so don't carry around anything special or rare! - Carry around shells in your pocket to get those converted. Jack-in-the-boxes sell for 1,031 bells each, and shells respawn quite fast. - Having trouble finding the real Jack? The real Jack will not run up to you when he sees you; the villagers will. - Hunting for Jack with friends is fun, but after one person speaks to Jack, he vanishes, so the search starts all over again. Tag-teaming won't work here.
Fun Facts
- In the Japanese version of the game, Jack's name is Pumpking. - Jack was in ACGC, but was then left out of ACWW. He has gladly returned for ACCF! - Surprisingly, Jack has a really deep voice, like a cranky villager.
Welcome to the seventh edition of the Special Character Profile series! November is all about giving thanks, or better known as Thanksgiving. A stalemate at almost every Thanksgiving meal is a nice plump, juicy turkey. Of course, Animal Crossing's take on Thanksgiving is completely different. During the Harvest Festival, you're not eating turkey, you're hunting it!
Franklin
Franklin is the lovable turkey that comes to town every Harvest Festival, the fourth Thursday of November from 3pm to 9pm. During the Harvest Festival, one must hunt down Franklin, who happens to be hiding due to being afraid of being the day's meal. Hunting him down is not all though, Franklin needs you to retrieve forks and knives for him, so he can be assured that nobody will consume him. Upon giving him a pair of forks and knives, one will get a piece of Harvest furniture.
Harvest Festival
For more information on hunting Franklin and the Haravest Festival, check out the Harvest Festival Strategy Guide, posted by iolite.
Tips
- Having trouble finding Franklin? Give the pair of forks and knives to the specified villager that Tortimer tells you to, and they'll give you a hint as to where Franklin is at. - Play with a friend! Playing over WiFi gives everyone an advantage because if somebody finds Franklin, unlike with Jack, he does not go away.
Fun Facts
- If Franklin is hiding behind a tree and you chop down that tree he will start to sweat. - In ACGC the Harvest TV always played the football channel.
Welcome to the eighth edition of our Special Character Profile series. It's that time of year, the time of holiday fun and cheer! The character we will be focusing on today is the epitome of fun and cheer! With a twinkle in his eye and a jolly old smile, I introduce to you Jingle!
Jingle
Once a year, on December 24th, Jingle, the reindeer, will come visit your town. You can catch him wandering about from 8pm to Midnight and talking to him will have him ask you a few questions. Depending on how you answer, you will get a piece of Jingle furniture! But there is a catch, only one person each year can get a piece of the Jingle furniture, but that doesn't mean you can trick Jingle! If you have a different accessory or hat on, he will not recognize you! Jingle not only can be found wandering around outside, but can also occasionally be found inside unlocked empty villager homes as well, so be sure to check houses with their lights off!
Christmas Eve
For more information about playing on Christmas Eve and getting the Jingle furniture, check out the Jingle Guide posted by iolite!
Tips
- Can't find Jingle? Try checking inside unlit villager homes. - Jingle recognizing you? Try changing accessories, hats, or even flowers! - When Jingle is asking you the two questions, saying "something to stand on" twice will always yield a Jingle carpet. - When Jingle is asking you the two questions, saying "something to lean on" twice will always yield a Jingle wall. - When Jingle is asking you the two questions, saying "something huge" for the second question will always yield some sort of Jingle furniture.
Fun Facts
- This is Jingle's second Animal Crossing appearance. He was omitted from ACWW. - Selling a piece of Jingle furniture, carpet, or wallpaper will get you a whopping 12,240 bells, symbolizing the date of Christmas Eve: 12/24.
Welcome to the ninth edition of our Special Character Profile series! The month is January. It is in the midst of winter. There are hardly any bugs to catch and most of the good fish have gone away. All hope seems lost when finding something to do... All of the sudden, you see a snowball or two! Put them together and you'll meet a cheery (or dreary) Snowman!
Snowman
Every winter season, from the dates of December 11th to February 24th, snowballs can be found around your town. If you roll the snowballs up, and push one into another, you'll have built yourself a Snowman! If you build a perfect Snowman, you'll eventually get a piece from the Snowman series in the mail! Be careful though, if you build an imperfect snowman, you'll get heavily scolded for your actions, and the Snowman will not be too happy.
Building a Perfect Snowman
To build a perfect Snowman, there are many steps you must take. First, you must be able to locate two snowballs. Roll one snowball up to full size. With the second snowball, roll it 2/3 to 3/4 of the size of the first one. Once you approximate the size of your second snowball, roll it into the first snowball for it to placed on top. Hopefully the Snowman will respond gratefully to your wonderful craftmenship. If so, you've just gotten yourself a piece of the Snowman series!
Tips
- Never roll the bigger snowball into the littler snowball! This will cause massive disproportions for the Snowman! - To increase the size of a snowball, roll it in the snow. To shrink the size of the snowball, roll it in dirt or concrete. - Two snowballs only appear in town at one time. If you happen to lose one, go inside a building and come back out and a new one will spawn. Once you build a Snowman for the day, there will be no more snowballs available, so you'll just have to wait until the next day to try again.
Fun Facts
- The Snowman often has funny things to say, whether he is perfect or not, so be sure to talk to him from time to time! - A Snowman melts three days after being built. - Leaving a snowball or building a Snowman north of the bus stop will cause all bus traffic to halt until the obstacle is moved. - There is one item that the Snowman can send you that is technically not part of the Snowman series. The Snowman item is just a replica of the Snowman himself. - Snowman furniture sells for 8,888 bells. The rumored reason behind this is because the number eight is similar to the shape of the Snowman.
Welcome to the tenth edition of the Special Character Profile series! Today we'll take a nice look at a classic Animal Crossing favorite (or maybe least favorite). Making his appearance in ACGC, and then reappearing in ACCF, this character is a food connoisseur like no other. He most likely loves his fish more than Wendell and isn't shy at all about his manners. I introduce to you the Fishing Tourney master, Chip!
Chip
Chip will be in town once a month for the Fishing Tourney, which takes place during the months of October through May. To participate, all one has to do is catch a fish and hand it over to Chip, and he will measure it for you. If you happen to have the biggest size at the time, you will be given a complimentary gift, which is just a random piece of common furniture. The goal though is to keep your fish at the top until the end of the Fishing Tourney, at 6pm. If you manage to have the biggest fish by the end of the day, Chip will send you a trophy in the mail, and depending on the type of tournament, it will be gold or silver. There are two types of Fishing Tourneys, normal and the specific fish tourney. The normal Fishing Tourney accepts any fish, while the specific fish tourneys require you to bring a certain type of fish for that day. The type of tourney alternates each month.
Specific Fish for the Month
January - Dab, Horse Mackerel, or Pond Smelt March - Crucian Carp, Loach, Sea Bass May - Black Bass, Red Snapper, or Sea Bass November - Black Bass, Carp, Horse Mackerel
Tips
- You will get a Gold Trophy for winning the All Fish tourney and a Silver Trophy for winning the Specific Fish tourney. - A fish you can give to Chip can measure out between 70% to 120% of the size of the fish given in the fish encyclopedia in game. - Be sure to have your mailbox cleared so you can get your trophy in the mail the next day if you win! - The Fishing Tourney lasts from 9am to 6pm, but that doesn't mean you have to catch the fish during that time period...!
Fun Facts
- Chip's name in the Japanese version of the game is Uomasa. - Pay attention to the comments Chip gives when you hand him a fish. He has different comments for different fish and some are quite comical. - Chip had glasses in the Japanese version of ACGC. - Chip's manners are a bit somewhat less than desired... - The picture on the table under the tent shows Chip holding up a Koi. Maybe that is his favorite fish...?
This month is the celebration of yet another special holiday, of course with another special character! This character is quite shady indeed. His real identity is truly unknown. All we do know about this fellow is that he is quite emotional, has a very obvious costume, and is quite cheesy. Let's celebrate Bunny Day with the one and only Zipper T. Bunny!
Zipper T. Bunny
Zipper T. Bunny comes once a year on Bunny Day, which varies date year by year. He can be found hanging or moping, I should say, around Town Hall until you approach him. Once close enough, he will hop about excitedly, willing to speak to you. Does he really fancy humans that much? You will want to give Zipper T. bunny foil in exchange for a rare piece of furniture from the Egg Series! Each piece of foil will sport you a different piece from the series. Of course, the foil must be found by opening up eggs in which you dig out of the ground. Some eggs will have foil, and others will be full of yummy and useless (or is it?) candy.
Bunny Day
For more information about playing on Bunny Day and getting egg furniture, check out the Bunny Day Guide posted by iolite!
Tips
- There are 30 eggs per character in each town. Make sure you dig them all up! - You will get no duplicates on Bunny Day! - Saving the candy for Halloween and Festivale is a good idea.
Fun Facts
- In the Japanese version of the game, Zipper T. Bunny's name is Pyontarou. - If you manage to get Zipper T. to turn around, you will see a zipper! He won't be happy talking to you with that zipper exposed. - Nobody truly knows who is inside that bunny suit...
Have you ever gotten so mad at something happening in your town? Has it ever gotten to the point when you've just turned off your game, seething with anger? Have you ever decided to give your game a go when it's storming outside? You're just sitting there playing, enjoying the sunshine in your town when bam, the power goes out! Those moments are always such a big pain, especially when everyone's favorite visitor comes to greet you at your front door, harassing you for turning off or resetting your game without saving. Who would do such a thing, you ask? Well, none other than the infamous mole, Resetti!
Resetti
Okay, so you've been caught. You reset your game, intentionally or unintentionally, it doesn't matter. You've got an angry mole screaming at the top of his lungs in your face for not saving your game before quitting. Everyone has met Resetti at least once, because the 2nd time you play Animal Crossing, he will come and warn you about resetting. Each time you reset, Resetti will warn you, and will have different dialog with you, but eventually, if you reset too much, his dialog will begin to repeat. Well, despite how mean Resetti may seem to be, he is quite the popular character throughout Animal Crossing: City Folk. Resetti can also be found at The Roost from Noon to 1:30pm and/or 2:30pm to 4pm on Sundays. Aside from the Roost even, one can visit the Reset Surveillance Center in the City on random nights between 8pm and Midnight to find Resetti hanging out. The manic mole will even give you a silver shovel to bribe you to get out of the place the first time you visit. The guy is so popular, there is even a piece of furniture modeled after him, which can be obtained from the Mayor on Groundhog's Day! Wait, Resetti isn't a groundhog, is he?
Tips
- DON'T RESET! - It's easier to just listen to Resetti talk, rather than complain or whine about it. Whatever you do, do not reset again thinking you can get out of his spiel! - Stay on Resetti's good side.
Fun Facts
- In the Japanese version of the game, Resetti's name is Mr. Reset. - Resetti supposedly has a lesser known brother and an even lesser known cousin... - Resetti's first name is Sonny. - Resetti actually has gray hair and feet! - In older Japanese versions of Animal Crossing, players could crack and break a random rock with a shovel, leaving a hole which the player could then drop into, leading to the Reset Surveillance Center.
