So wait. Can we use colors in our main post now?
I've been on ACC for six years. I was told we can only use markup when it CALLS for it. I was even reported and received a ticket when I used colors on my font outside Private threads.
But now I'm seeing people use them not only on giveaway threads, but regular "lets wifi" ones too.
Is this allowed? Because..really that ticket made me feel horrible.

Markup can only be used in titles and to make one part of the post stand out from the rest. Take, for example, a giveaway. You can bold or color headings, but leave the rest of the post just regular text. Hope I helped.

Someone used it in the wifi boards; thats why I was wondering.

No it hadn't. I didnt know if it was against the rules or not, but it was bothering me because I had been reported before, and I thought it wasn't fair. but perhaps I'm just a bit silly as it may be okay : )but  its the wifi-thread, not the giveaway one! I understand that it is the WiFi thread. Overuse of markup in posts should be reported.

Markup can be used to make certain words and phrases stand out.  If you have some things in your post that are more important than others, you can use it to make them pop out.  What you can't do is use them to make the post look like a coloring book

The paragraph above has an acceptable amount of markup.  For example, if someone has a wifi thread, they might want to make the title for the rules (not the whole rules, just where it says rules) be bold and colored.

It sounds like you were reported for overuse of markup.  That is when you use it to color the post, and not to make a few details stand out.  It is a case to case basis, but if you see something you think looks a bit excessive, then report it.  The worst that will happen is the staff will tell you that they used an ok amount off markup, and then you know how much you yourself can use.

If your entire post was like this, it falls under the overuse of markup rule.

However, the rule does not apply to any Private Threads.

yankees24cano and Bobzco are correct. You shouldn't use markup to make your entire post coloured and/or bold/italicised, or it will be considered overuse. Only use markup to emphasise a word or a phrase or sentence, and you'll be fine.

Yes, that is a good amount of markup, you could even make the whole last sentence like that and be fine.
