With the recent changes made in some ACC policies, we have locked the old thread and created this new one to ensure that people don't read through old information that may not be applicable now.

We'd like to remind you that the ACC Site Rules apply to Stories and Fan Fiction too. In particular, the Offensive Content rule is quite specific about content that is not permitted on ACC and therefore not permitted in Stories and Fan Fictions on this board. We ask that you respect this, and also that you keep controversial subjects in private threads. In addition to the Site Rules, the Stories and Fan Fiction Board Rules further clarify what is and isn't allowed on this board.

We appreciate that sometimes there is a grey area in some subjects such as romance, violence and controversial topics. If you are unsure whether you should write about something or you are not sure about the level of detail you can depict, please ask the Modmins by posting on this thread for clarification, or by sending a PT to Essie, iolite and VenusKamal. Make sure to include all three of us in the same PT and do not send us each a PT in an attempt to get different answers from different people.

2) Does the ban lift on non-AC stories apply only to non-AC fanfiction, or can we also post original fiction?

Simply posting song lyrics or poetry would not be considered a fanfic or story, so I don't think that's appropriate for this board. If you want to post poetry or lyrics inspired by AC music, I think this could comfortably sit on the appropriate Animal Crossing dicussion board.

Original fiction would be considered a 'story', so that's perfectly fine to post here.

2) I think that they lifted the ban for those today. So I think it can be non-AC related, or AC related.

DoggyLuvr, you need to keep the story to one thread, but you don't have to post it all in the first post. You can post the first chapter, then add subsequent chapters at a later date. I'm not sure I understood your question correctly, so please let me know if this is not what you were asking.

They don't have to be AC related anymore. Please make sure you have read the Stories and Fan Fiction Board rules before you start writing, though.

Unless the rules on this were changed with the recent update, wouldn't this actually be allowed? I think Dalek used to have a thread where he posted haikus on the fanfic board while he was admin.

The rule states that you can post a word or phrase in a different language as long as you provide a translation. Having a character speak entirely in a different language would be too much, I think - unless that character is not going to be talking much, and only in very short sentences.

I wasn't aware of that. I personally feel that a poem or song lyrics don't fall in the Fanfic/Story category, as it's not a story with characters and chapters. I'll bring this up with the rest of the team and see what they say.

Is it okay for a character to mention their sexuality and/or relationships in passing, regardless of whether it's heterosexual or homosexual or whatever, as long as he or she is vauge about it? For example, could a female character say "I don't like men," which could imply that she is either lesbian or asexual, without any other mention about it, as long as she is not in a current relationship at the time of the story?

PikaGal444, I think you need to keep all expressions of sexual orientation off the public boards, so that includes Fanfics and Stories.

Here's a link for the Staff to my original AC Haiku thread to help in your discussions. Prior to the change in the rules for this board, poetry relating to AC was OK as it was not that different from AC one-shot stories (the whole story posted in the opening post or posts).

Like one-shots, poetry is pretty rare for the Fan-Fic board.

I'm still slightly confused, could I have have two characters go on a date? For interaction what is the limit, could they kiss each other without description. I mean could they kiss on their date, or would it have to not be done in the story part or have to be mentioned later on? Could there be a wedding? Is there a character age limit on romance, sorry for so many questions. Between two stories could to get characters start a family? Sorry

Umm, I have a question... I didn't do this yet, without asking first.

Are stunts aloud in these stories as long as they're Animal Crossing appropriate? Because, I was asking one of my friends for ideas for stunts. I came up with just riding a mountain bike off ramps like they do in skake parks, only with mountain bikes. She came up with 4 other ideas. In the story, I planned for this all 2 take place at the lake.

1. Climbing up a rope, being handed a scorpion to hold by the tail, doing a triple back-flip, landing on a surf board while its still moving, and surfing back to shore while still holding the scorpion without getting stung once.

2. Jumping down a waterfall.

3. Letting a turantula climb up your arm.

4. Standing on your neighbors house, throwing an axe up into the air, and catching the handle part of it.

Like I said before, I haven't wrote this part of the story yet, so if any of these look or seem like bad ideas, please tell me and I won't write them. I'm just making sure whether this is appropriate or not on this site, so I won't get banned if it is inappropriate.

All of these sound okay but wait around for a mod.

pikachu711, yes they could go on a date. The limit would be not to include any sexual content. Holding hands, looking into each others eye, and mentioning a kiss with out describing it would all be ok. I also don’t see a problem with marriage and starting a family as long as it’s mentioned without detail. If you could stand up in a room full of young children and tell the story without a bunch of giggling you’d probably be on the right path. Just keep in mind that we have young children on the site and everything needs to be family friendly.

As for the age limit, that's an excellent questions. If you didn’t mention an age at all and just left that to your reader’s interpretation that would be the best approach. Some may be quite upset if your character were 11 while others may not even think that 16 would be an appropriate age, especially if you want to advance that relationship to a marriage. So, unless you want to specify that they are an adult, then any age less than that should not be mentioned or implied.

#2 would be fine as long as there wasn’t a horrific ending to the fall

#4 like #2 that would be fine, as long as there were not any violent descriptive ending to the stunt.

I don't get this rule. Could you explain the reasons why we're not allowed to post here?

I've been following the fanfic sticky for about 2 years now, and its always been a place where the fanfic community helps each other out. And in all of the hundreds of answers I've ever seen members give, I'm pretty sure that 99% of the answers given were correct, and the very few that weren't were quickly corrected by another member/Dalek/iolite.

If we're unsure of an answer, then yes, maybe its best to leave it to the admins/mods, but I don't see why we can't help members with easier questions, rather than leaving them hanging for a few days until a modmin has time to post.
