Ok, I have heard a lot and read a lot of pages here about these scorpions, tarantulas, and coelacanth. A lot of what i see/hear is true but there are some things that are not true and confuse most people. I have caught all of these critters several times so i know my information is 100% correct. So where do i begin, how about scorpions and tarantulas?

Scorpions and Tarantulas
These pesky critters are feared by most, but beloved by few (who know how to catch them). These "bugs" will attack the player ONLY IF YOU HAVE A NET EQUIPPED!!! Try it. Hold a fishing rod and look for scorpions/tarantulas. THEY WILL NOT ATTACK BUT WILL RUN AWAY IF YOU GET TOO CLOSE WITHOUT A NET!!!
Now you know how to not provoke a chase, here's how to catch them:Sneak attack.
When you see one, don't panic, get out of the bug's sight. Walk away until you can't see it when you look up. Thats about far enough. A little farther if you want. It won't disappear (unless you take too long). Once your out of it's line of sight, pull out your net and make your way slowly to it. It probably would have moved so look for it (still slowly). When you confirm the sighting, sneak up on it (STILL SLOWLY). Don't worry if it sees you. As long as you go really slowly, it will not care. If it does see you though, to be sure, go even slower or just stop untill it turns around. Sneak up and when your close enough swing your net and hope you aimed it right, cause if you miss, prepare for a chase! That is the method that i use. There are other methods one youtube.com. Search "ACCF - How to Catch Tarantulas and Scorpions" by WingSpurStudios. It gives a bunch of other useful methods and tips. Tarantulas are out June-August 7pm-4am. Scorpions are out July-September 7pm-4am. Happy Hunting (or failing)!
Coelacanth
These elusive fish are a lot easier to catch, but finding them is a whole different story! There is no tricks or anything. All you'll need is your fishing rod, an empty spot in your pockects, and quick reflexes. These fish bite REALLY fast! In order to find one, it needs to be either raining or snowing and morning/evening/night. These fish are the size of blue marlin. I've caught about 10 and about a million sea bass AND THEY ARE NOT SMALLER THAN SEA BASS!!! I CAN GUARANTEE THAT! Once you find a blue marlin sized fish, and it is under the conditions for a coelacanth to spawn, it is most likely a coelacanth. Just cast your rod, get its attention, get a bite, and reel that sucker in! You've got yourself a coelacanth!!!

Well thats the end of this guide. I hope it clears some confusion about these creatures. I'll answer questions if anyone has any. I check almost every day. Later guys/girls and good luck on your hunt!

Not trying to backseat mod here or anything but there's a sticky on this. Anyway, Coelacanth are also the same size as a shark without a fin. Coelacanth do not always bite on the first time. The last one I caught took until the 4th. You can tell by the way the fish bites if it's a sea bass or a Coelacanth.

I know there's a sticky but some of the stuff that was posted was wrong. I'm new to this kind of stuff, ya know. I wanted to just write this because i've had animal crossing a long time and i know a lot about these things. I thought i'd just try and clear things up though. Plus i know that coelacanth don't always bite the first time but they don't take like 20 bites. I ust exagerated a bit to say they bite on the first couple of times.
