Hey, this thread hasn't been commented in in a long time, but I wanted to start playing RF again, but which one should I play? I have all of them, but I'm more leaning towards the handheld ones.

Which ones your favorite?

Eh, Idk. I like them all to be honest. Probably RF2 so I guess I'll just stick to that one.

I'm a fan of Harvest Moon in general, but as soon as I played my first Rune Factory (which was RF 2, I played 1 later =P) it made the rest of the HM games almost boring. The DS games are great, but if you guys haven't checked out the RF games for the Wii, I seriously recommend it.

Yeah, I would get more into Froniter but that whole Runey system just didn't make me wanna play it.

Refresh my memory: what was the Runey system again?

Basically in RFF, it was when you had to distribute evenly the 4 different types of runey's to each district; but you had to do this about every 3 days and it would take up a whole day. If you ignored it, all your crops would die and I think even the ones in the dungeons would die.

I had RFF but I sold it. The whole Runey thing ruined the game for me and I just couldn't play it anymore. I recently completed the story line and marriage thing of RF:ToD. That was a game I enjoyed. I'm also pretty close to finishing the storyline of RF:3 for the DS. Just have the final boss left.

I can't even express how excited I am for Rune Factory 4. It was one of the reasons why I bought a 3DS.

Me too. I bought my 3ds right when they came out(regretfully spent $250) for New Leaf and Rune Factory 4, but I never realized I would have had to wait so long, ahaha.

Yeah I know what you mean. Especially New Leaf but ya know but...whatever. Rune factory 4 looks really good though, and I'm super excited. Hopefully that will get this thread going again, lol.

I'm debating whether to get the first one for DS or not... The farming/combat combination is what appeals to me...

What makes this game fun for you?

Personally, everything seems to make it fun. I love the plot, characters, music, dungeons, etc.

I think that you should buy the game. It's my favourite. It has a really great plot and lots of dungeons. Oh, and the music in the dungeons, I could listen to it all day!

Is it similar to Animal Crossing in such way that you can play forever? That there is always something to do?

In some ways, yes. Even after completing the game you can keep playing and get married, have a kid, and there are year-round festivals and competitions.

I hope so! The Rune Factory games deserve a lot more love and attention than they get.

^ Very true. I hope Rune Factory 4 is a hit, and it brings back the series. Rune Factory and the Harvest Moon series are my favorite games.

Haha, yeah. I've only played Rune Factory 3 (Loving it, best dialogue ever.*) but after playing that, I'm actually finding it hard to go back to playing Harvest Moon. Can't wait for RF4, hope the characters are as hilarious there as they are in RF3, haha!

And yeah, I agree with the RF games needing more attention. RF3 has given me more fun than most of my other DS games, even games I really enjoyed (ie: Sonic Rush).

And I'm only on Year 1. (Granted I'm on Winter 27, but still)

* I only remember two other games that beat it in dialogue, and that's Bastion and Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Me neither! It's really exciting, but I'm not excited having to wait until July..

At least New Leaf is coming out in June so we know what we can do for a month waiting until it comes out!

I used to play Rune Factory Frontier but then I got confused with the runey thingy. I also find it hard to play these kinds of game in the Wii

I wish I had something more portable though =_=

I heard that RF3 is really good, although I still only have the second game.

Rune Factory 3 does have its good parts, but I could spend so long telling you what I hate about it so instead I`ll just tell you that I personally do not recommend it whatsoever.
