I think the whole liger thing is wrong. It's unnatural. As far as I'm aware, lions and tigers would never have met in the wild.
Actually, I'm going to restate a bit. I think its wrong if people intentionally breed them together just because they can, but if the lion and tiger were in the zoo or something, and it happened naturally, it would be fine.
They've been around for a while, but I feel really bad for them... They force breed the parents, and the babies often have medical problems, die young, can't have kids themselves, and can't live normally at all. Most of them have joint issues, and it's just wrong Same with white tigers, which are from inbreeding tigers- most of them wind up with disfigured faces from the inbreeding, and those ones are killed before adulthood.
There aren't many around but now and then a sudden hybrid animal will appear...just the same way a plant hybrid will...almost.
There have been ligers, zonkeys, zebroids, beefalo, grizzly polars & more. Not all animals are bred in that way to produce hybrids, little_oakie ^^ Some are, which sucks But some just breed in the wild and one time some zoologists and whatnot will be out on a documentary and discover the abnormal looking creatures. But then I guess they could capture it and make it nasty.
A watched a documentary and the group that discovered the grizzly polar shot it from a helicopter to be able to analyze it. But I guess that's the only way they could have found out about it. The link of the group is on the grizzly polar picture.
