We recently got a new wireless router and rather than a WEP key it has a WPA key which I recently discovered my Nintendo DS Lite doesn't support.
Is there any way to get around this or something I can do to connect my DS to the internet?
I was thinking about buying a new console as well, so are the DSi's incompatible with WPA keys or do they all rely on WEP?

I cannot help with the first question as I'm unsure, but the second I can tell you that they all rely on WEP. The new 3DS however, will have/has WPA support.

The DSi itself, does support WPA. However, most of the DS games are built earlier back before WPA was supported. So that means, the DSi can connect to a WPA router, but the games cannot.

There is no workaround for the DS, unfortunately.

Cheapest/fastest option: use wep security (and probably a mac address filter) on your router

OR if you want your other wireless devices to have WPA (AKA paranoid) get a usb wireless device that has SoftAP software included such as the wifi max from codejunkies or the Nintendo wifi usb connector.

I have the same problem and I have tried changing it to WEP, it does't work

The nintendo USB connecter is discontinued so the only walkaround is wifi Max

the dsi can use wpa keys for everything exept ds games!

I am thinking of writing a guide for this as I know how to change it. I'll try and find the last one I wrote on word.
