I think that it is a bit unfair that mods/admins ca nread our private threads. I understand that we ma ystill be doing bad things on PTs, but instead of them going through our PTs, they could just wait for someone to report us. I mean, I understand that on forums we may offend the large number of people that we are talking to. But PTs are usually just two people talking. If you offend the other person, they ca njust report you instead of mods/admins reading them. It is like reading someone else's mail!!!

A: No regular member has access to Private Threads unless they are included as an invited member to that Private Thread. However, Administrators and Moderators always have access to every Private Thread. This is only to allow them to make sure TOS rules are not being broken, and to follow up on any problems reported in regards to a Private Thread."
I'm pretty sure the Mods don't poke about in people's PTs for kicks when they're bored - they've probably got more important things to be doing! They can access the PTs so that when a rule break is brought to their attention, they can sort it out.
As SapSuck mentioned, it is part of the site's policy to allow Moderators and Administrators access to private threads. We are able to look at a member's private threads so we can help resolve problems/get insight to issues on the boards.
"but instead of them going through our PTs, they could just wait for someone to report us."
This is a pretty outlandish assumption. Moderators do NOT just "go through your PTs". In almost every case where we would end up looking in a PT, we are directed there via user ticket, or we are in the process of researching a reported user ticket. Please understand that we have many things around the site to keep us busy. We hardly have time to meander around in your private threads unless we have a very good reason to do so.
Pinkerdroit is right; the staff, like, own this site and can do what they think could help the site. This definitely does. Someone in a private thread said something very mean and edited it before I could report her, but a mod saw it before she edited it and she got written up.
^Mods can see the original content of any post, BTW.

I didn't know that. I think some people need to watch their mouths, though. They think editing can make them look innocent.
I do think mods deserve that power because it keeps the site safer. I've seen a lot of rude people say something rude and then edit it. When was that feature added, because a few months ago someone said something rude and edited it and then the staff said she was innocent...

Same - I've been typing up a few paragraphs on why we should have this. I'm gonna post it soon. :)

No, that's not true. Mods can't see what your post looked like before it was edited. Only if you report the post before it was edited can they see it. Otherwise, they will not be able to view the previous version of the post.

Then what is there to fear? If you go with the rules you wont get a mod in your stuff. I mean unless you ask for them to in the thread then you might get em' in and posting on your threads.
