Thanks to yankees24cano, below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about Animal Crossing (AC:GC). Use the Directory to find your questions, and answer. Simply click on what you'd like to learn about, and it'll zoom you to the answer.
"Many people remember when they played Animal Crossing for the first time. It is a lot different than most video games. I was lucky enough to have my friend, who knew how to play next to me. For those of you who don't, here is a guide for you. Please tell me any ideas of questions or buildings I missed. I would also like to thank Jakester705, who make this first, and let me take over for him.

Here is the full list of people who helped:

Jakester705 - Made the first thread, and let me take over

KikiRox00 - Added more questions on the first thread

lebronjamesfan - Added the "What is "Turnip Price" for? question on the second thread

shay_711 - Fixed some minor mistakes on the third thread."

Q: A raccoon took me by 4 houses, what am I supposed to do now?

A:
The raccoon's name is Tom Nook, he owns the local shop and sells houses to people like you. He will ask you to look at the four houses and decide which one you like the best. Once you find the one you like, he will give you the speech about how to pay your debt to him and how to buy stuff to decorate your house. If your not sure, you can get Wallpaper, Furniture, and carpet for your house at his store.

Q: How/Where do I go to pay off my loan?

A:
You go to the post office to pay off your loan. Talk to the pelican named Pelly behind the counter. Press A to talk to her and scroll down to deposit. She will tell you the remaining amount you need to pay. You need bells to pay off your loan. You can earn bells by selling items to Tom Nook or helping your neighbors out. Then, select the amount you want to pay toward your loan. Relax, you don't need to pay it all off at once, take your time. Enjoy you new life at your new town!

Q: How am I supposed to find my way around town? I don't have a map!

A:
You won't get a map until Nook asks you to deliver something when you work at his shop. For now, you can either go to the Train Station where you arrived, or you can find your way to the police station. Those two places have a map. Don't worry, get your work done for Nook, and you'll have a map in no time.

Q: What buildings can be found in AC:GC?

A:
Train Station - The place where you arrived from the train. There is a map, and a small box that you can't pick up. The small box is where the guitar player KK plays on Saturday nights from 8PM-12AM Sun. this is also here you can see Porter, a monkey that can not be found in any other animal crossing game.

Dump - Got stuff you don't need? Drop it off here. The collection is Mon. and Thr. at 6am. Sometimes, your villagers will drop off stuff they don't want or need, and you can pick any of that stuff up for free.

Nook Store - Here you can shop for furniture, wall paper and carpet, paper to write letters, sign boards (Nookway and Nookingtions) that you can post patterns on, and in the later stores, paint to paint your roof. Also, you can go here on raffle day and turn in your raffle cards, far a chance to win great prizes that can not be found anywhere else, including some NES games!

Wishing Well - The place where most town events are held, you can also flip a coin into the pond there. (Just a donation, It doesn't count for anything.) You can also check how close you are to a perfect town, and apologies for any favors you couldn't do because they moved out of your town. When Tom Nook tells you to talk to everyone in your town, make sure to go here, as this is where Tortimer is.

Able Sisters - You can create patterns here. Each pattern you make is 350 bells. You draw on a grid, making a cool picture. Don't forget to make them on ACC! In AC:GC, you can not buy shirts here, only make patterns. This is usually by the beach.

Police Station - Here you can look for lost items and see if any are yours, or ask Copper, the dog, about events. You can also go inside to talk to Booker, a police dog, I think...

Museum - Here you can display the bugs, fish, paintings and fossils that you have dug up/caught, or found. Go in and talk to Blathers and donate what you have caught/dug up. He won't let duplicates in, so don't try to give him any. There is also a prize for giving him every item there is to collect. Make sure not to step on the bugs.

Post Office - This is the place where you can send mail to your villagers. Pelly will be here in the day, and Phyllis will be there in the night. You can also see Pete fly away from here to deliver mail, pay off your debt, use your bank account, and use the e reader machine.

Dock - Do you want to go to the island? Go here to take a boat with Kapp'n to the island. He will also take you back, no need to worry.

Q: Can I change the layout of my town?

A:
No. Sadly you can not. Trust me, you will get used to your town soon. Just give it time. If it's that much of a problem, your only way is to start over. That's tough though losing your catalog, neighbors, nook, size of your house. So think before doing this please.

Q: What is "hear codes" and "say code" for?

A:
That is how you trade with friends. You hit "hear code" and you give Nook an item and he will give you a code. Then, you give the code to a friend. He/she goes to Nook and he will hit "say code" and he will enter the code you gave them. Then your friend will receive the item you sent them.

Q: Why do some people have more money than me?

A:
Money can be earned by selling items to Tom Nook. Generally, the longer you have played animal crossing, the more money you have. Also, the more you play, and how you make money can affect it. If person A and person B both had it for a month, and person A played 5 hours a day and time traveled to pick fruit, they would have more than person B if they played 5 minutes a day and sold sea shells.

Q: How do I get more people in my town?

A:
The way you get more people is making your town nice. Plant trees, flowers, pick weeds, and even try to upgrade your nooks. Villagers like nice clean places to live in. They also like big stores so they have more of a choice when shopping. Also, be nice to people, and wait. Note: This is not the only way to get more villagers to move in, the best way is just to wait. There is no proof that this will help speed it up, but it can't hurt.

Q: How do I get a villager to move?

A:
If you really want them to move, then bug them as much as you can. Do favors, but never deliver the item. Push them in pitfalls. Surround them with holes. Do anything else you can do that you wouldn't want done to you. Note: Do not sent them hate mail. The game can not tell what the letter says, so they think hate mail is good. Saying "you are the worst villager ever" and saying "you are my favorite villager" will both have the same affect, making them happy. Thank you to shay_711 for pointing this out.

Q: What is the max amount of villagers for my town?

A:
You can have 15 at one time. No more. If one moves out, you can get another one. Also, there is a prize for getting 15 villagers in your town at once. This is not an item, an addition to your town.

Q: Why are there stars on the ground?

A:
That is just the style of Animal-Crossing grass. Animal-crossing isn't 100% life like. You may come across some weird looking things, but that's just the Animal-Crossing way of things. Try getting a shovel, and hitting A while facing it. Also, do this to golden shiny spots.

Q: Why do I keep falling in the ground? I didn't see any hole!

A:
There must have been a pitfall seed below you. These always have a star under them, but not all stars have a pitfall seed. Pitfall seeds are just things that you fall into. The only way to avoid them in to dig them up, or you can just not walk in to them. You come out after hitting A for close to 5 seconds.

Q: Why is the ACC catalog so big, when mine isn't?

A:
Your catalog is the items you have had in your pockets. The ACC catalog is big so that people that do have most of it can click the circles they need. If they didn't have all of it, the people with full catalogs can fill it all out. Without leaving anything out that is.

Q: How do I go to another town?

A:
You just need another memory card with a AC:GC save file on it. Then you need to go to the train station (where you arrived) and talk to the monkey. You will be on a short train ride then you will be able to do every thing you can do in your town. Just not move furniture around.

Q: How do I wifi?

A:
This is a question that is asked a lot by people who have played AC:WW or AC:CF before. There is no wifi at all. You can not go out of your town at all, for any reason, with the exception of if you have 2 or more memory cards, put a back up one in slot 2 (the right slot on a Game Cube), and talk to porter who will be at the train station. You can still make trades, look up in the page for more details about that.

Q: Why can't Tom Nook sell more items! I bought all of them today!

A:
He can't. The only way is if he upgrades his shop. That is just the way the game was made. Just be patent and wait for tomorrow. There is a lot more to do in animal crossing, not just shop.

Q: Nook is not selling me items, there are only 3 items in his shop, and he is also wearing different clothes than normal; Why?

A:
This is a commonly asked question from people who have played AC:CF or AC:WW. It should be the last day of the month in the game when this happened. If it is not, there must be some problem with your game. There is no TNPS, or Tom Nook Point System machine in Animal Crossing Game Cube. This is made up for by the fact that after every purchase not counting paper or tools), he gives you a raffle ticket, and tells you to save it for the end of the month. This is the time you get to use them. Walk up to Tom Nook's stand with 5 raffle tickets for that month in your pocket. He will take them, and spin a wheel like thing. You can either get nothing (which I believe is 1/2 the time on average, please tell me if you know that this is right or wrong), get 3rd 2nd, or first prize. All prizes are different items, and they all can not be found in Tom Nook's shop on regular days, or in Redds shop. Tom will not sell items, even if you win all of the prizes. If you forgot about your tickets or had an amount that did not add up to 5 left over, you can trash them, or keep them until next year.

Q: Who is this Crazy Redd Person I got a letter from?

A:
Crazy Redd is a furniture retailer just like Tom Nook. But he only sells furniture for extreme prices. Make sure you bring all your bells for going to him, he really wants you to buy her merchandise. He rarely ever comes, so make sure he comes when you are on, or you will miss him. Also note that some items can only be bought from him. They have Redd's Tent under the where found section in the ACC AC:GC catalog.

Q: I see strange shadows in the water! What are they?

A:
Once again, this is the way animal crossing does things. This is a fish. When you go fishing, make sure you see one of these, otherwise you won't catch anything. The size of these it also close to the size of the fish.

Q: I'm seeing bugs all around town, but how do I catch them?

A:
For this, you must buy a bug net for 500 bells. You go near one, and hit A. At first, it will be hard, but the more you practice, the better you will get. If you get to close, they will run away.

Q: How can I get paintings for my Museum?

These are found in Nook's shop, or Redd's tent. These can also be found in places like the lost and found, where I found my first, and can be given as gifts for doing favors.

Q: Can I change my character's face?

A:
No, by the time you see his or her face, it is to late. The face is determined by the answers you give to rover when he asks you them. Also, when Rover talks to you and your choices are "isn't it cool?", "isn't it cute?", and "no no no!", that chooses if you are a boy or girl. You can reset your person though if you want.

Q: What is "Turnip Price" for?

A:
In Animal Crossing, there are objects called "turnips". They can only be bought on Sunday. You buy them for a price, which in my time of playing animal crossing was always or usually 85 to 120 bells. You can only buy them in groups of 10, but no more then 100 in one inventory slot. You also may come back as many times as you want for more. You can eat, drop, or bury them (if next to a hole). Then on any day after Sunday, you can click "Turnip Price" to find out the price he is buying them for. This can get really high! If it is already the Sunday after you bought them, they will go bad or spoil, and can not be sold. This is much like the stock market in real life, only you make money most of the time. There is also something called a spike. A spike is where your turnip prices go way up, and is the best time to sell turnips. It happens about 1 time a week. For more information, check out this guide.

Q: Is there a fishing tournament in AC:GC? I have been playing for months, but none of them have came yet!

A:
Yes, there is a fishing tournament in AC:GC. Unlike the other AC games, this does not come 1 time a month with a few missing months. There is the Summer Fishing Tourney, which is every Sunday in the month of June, and a Fall Fishing Tourney on every Sunday in November. In AC:GC, the biggest fish wins, but you can only submit bass. If you don't want the fish you caught and it is not a bass, Chip will still be happy to take it from you. Also, even if you can't catch the biggest fish, be sure to find Tortimer, because for the Summer fishing Tourney, he will give you an Angler Trophy, and in the winter, he will give you a Fishing Trophy.

Q: What is this island the villagers are talking about?

A:
In AC:GC, there is an island. Some towns have little islands where the river goes in a circle, making a tiny circle with 2 bridges, but that is not it. If you have a Gameboy and the Gameboy hook up cable, you can go down to the acre with the dock, and see Kapp'n. He will bring you to the island. Remember, if you do not like the sound of animal crossing characters singing, mute your TV. You can se your islander, and get island only items. Then come back to your town when you are done. Go here for a list of islanders.

Q: How does the Trading Post on ACC work?

A:
Here's how you trade:

Okay, here's a scenario. I want to trade with you and I'm going to give you an orange and you're going to give me a peach. We set up a trade online for those items. (by the way, codes are only allowed in a trade on the trading post, not in threads, and no Universal Codes [UCs] are allowed. I'll explain UCs in a sec)

1. I go to Tom Nook with my orange in my pocket (it can't be in a letter because you can’t take things out of letters once you start talking to Tom) and I say to Tom Nook: Other Things followed by: Hear Code.
2. I type in your town name and your player's name when prompted.
[Please see Other Notes below for more information about names]
3. Then I select the orange to give you.
4. Then the game generates a code that will give a person with your name and town name an orange. This code is 28 characters long, quite annoying.
5. Then I go online and enter the code for you.
6. You do all those other things too for me and input my code online.
7. I copy down the code you gave me and I go to Nook and say: Other things and then Say code.
8. I enter the code and I get my peach.

If the code I gave you works then you go online and hit the button that says Code Worked. If it didn't work you hit Code Failed and I have to get you a new code. When we are both done and have received our items the option to leave feedback appears.

Other notes:
• Please see this thread to see what items are not tradeable: Non-Tradeable Items

• When you are creating your town and character here on ACC, it is important to make sure that you enter both names exactly as they appear on your Game Cube game - this included capital letters and spaces. If you do not do it right then when people try and enter your names to get your codes, the codes will not work for your character.

• There is a glitch in Animal Crossing where, if you use the backspace while you are entering your character's name for the first time on the train, it will add a space to the beginning of you name. Make certain that if there is a space in front of your character's name on AC that there is a space in front of the name on ACC as well.

• When you confirm a code by clicking "code worked" the code disappears from the website. It's a good idea to write them down if you'll want to use them again. You can use codes over and over again which is helpful when you’re trying to plant foreign fruit in your town.

• You can use 3 codes at Nook’s each time you play the game. If you want to use more codes for items then you need to save and quit and re-enter the game and then go back to Nook’s store.

• When you order an item from Nook for a trade he has to mail it to you. If you exit the game and return and it will be in your mailbox when you get back. The same goes for traveling, the present will be there when you return from your trip.

Universal Codes:
A UC is a code that will work for any player in any town, unlike the regular legitimate codes that only work for one person. Some people consider the use of UCs to be cheating. If you want to use UCs then you will have to find another site to get them, and there are many to choose from. They aren't allowed on this site because it undermines the awesome trading system we have. The only UCs on the site are the ones at the top of the AC Game Board for otherwise unattainable items.

Let me know if I need to clear anything up.

Q: Is AC:[/i]PG the same as AC:GC?

A:
Yes, it is. In AC:CF and AC:WW, under the "Welcome to Animal Crossing", it says City Folk or Wild World. In AC:GC or AC:[/b]PG, it says "Population: Growing!", which is where people got the name. There is no real correct name; they both work.
