I do and don't agree with this idea. I think if the Staff picked someone each week who has been really helpful towards the site and they got to be the ACC Knight. Although I think the staff who have a hard time choosing each week.

I don't agree with this idea because it would give someone a chance to brag to their friends saying "Haha! I was an ACC Knight and you weren't!" And it seems too messy.

I don't agree. If you want to help start up a company, PT the owner and talk to them. If you want to help the Mods and scouts, help new members, and help do stuff like the AC:WW picture pictures. ACC should not draw attention to members who help ACC.

I agree with iPenguin. I think if someone feels like helping ACC, they can. Just because you don't have a badge doesn't mean your help will go unnoticed.

What exactly do you mean by a "company"? Like a giveaway?
Exactly what would be the purpose of a knight? You don't need a staff position to help the staff, just try not to break rules, be nice to everyone, greet new members, report rule breakers etc.
Hmm... Maybe, instead of an ACC Knight, it could just be a temporary Scout for a week?
I see where you're coming from. It would be like choosing a temporary Scout for seven days. But I believe the criteria for choosing the temporary scout would be like choosing a Staff member. The people chosen would have to be mature, respectful and overall helpful, as if they were choosing a new Staff member.
That way, nobody would brag about being an ACC Knight because the people chosen would be mature about it.
And the argument 'you could help ACC without being Staff' could go both ways. Why would we have Scouts then?
All in all, I see what you're suggesting - a temporary Scout of some sort.
I really think the staff would be capable of handling a situation such as that. Although I'm not saying I agree with the idea itself, that situation is pretty hypothetical.

Scouts can't make stickies, so I highly doubt a Knight would. If anything it sounds like a weekly recognition of helpfulness and achievement mentioned in an announcement or something. In that sense, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.
However, there are a limited number of people who truly step up and reach a level of helpfulness worthy of that sort of recognition, so it makes more sense to make it a monthly recognition.
It also seems like something that would draw the community together rather than separating them. Think of it this way: if someone is being helpful and friendly long enough to achieve that type of recognition, it is going to be genuine. If someone was doing it just to be recognized and then gloat and brag about it, belittling others, that user would get bored of the facade long before they got any sort of recognition. The people who truly deserve the position are not the type of people who would do that, and that's clear by their behavior.
Also consider this: the people who would receive this recognition are the types of people who are seen around the site every day; they are people who, while not always "popular" in the sense most ACCers use, are definitely seen around and are a positive influence. They're people that people know, and they're people's friends, and it really brings together the community when a group of users, users from different circles, see their friend's name on an announcement as being a good "citizen."
Is it necessary? No. Is it a buggy idea? Yeah, it is. It isn't perfect, but it has potential. I don't know if this is the interpretation of the OP, but what I gathered from his brief post and those that followed has potential.
Edit: Upon a brief proofread of my post, I think I should verify that I don't think this should be a staff position at all. I see it as merely a monthly announcement recognizing one or more users for being worthy role models.

I don't like this idea! We can help anytime and we don't need an icon beside your name to! Helping anytime is great whether you have anything beside your user name or not! When there is a knight, the knight could brag like many people said, leaving some people feeling bad which wouldn't help people at all! That would be more like sort of bullying! Also, keeping track of who's been a knight and who hasn't would probably make things very difficult and we don't need anything more difficult that it is already! Just because you don't haver a badge doesn't mean that you should juse ignore people that need help, just help! Who needs a badge to make somebody help?!

No, but the end of a few years, when new members stop coming in, and days go by quicker, we'll all be knights, Which isn't cool since the SIC is working on more important.
