This is for discussion of any of the ideas listed in those two threads. Do not use this thread to discuss ideas not listed in them. Do not post simple posts like "I hate this idea" or a simple "I agree with this". Any post doing this will be removed as spamming.

Use this to ask questions and discuss about how to do the ideas, improve them, or alter them in any way. Any comments, good or bad, are welcome, as long as you are not insulting anyone in any way, put forth your ideas responsibly, always have an idea of how to change it/make it better if you don't like a certain idea, and above all, explain nicely and why you think that way.

Remember, all ACC Rules still apply!

What is the ACC YouTube Channels name? Or what will it be if you guys accept the idea?

Until we come up with a decision as to whether jader201 will be ok with it, and work out the ideas, we're not quite sure. However, we have a few names avaliable that we'll pick from.

Who will create new homepage banners? h0ggle is not active and he won't make them. Will there be a contest? Will the staff do it? Will the community be asked to do it?

AC:CF Catalog Items

I would love to see this happen soon. I see that they are working on it, because they put them in AC:CF. Are they done with this yet, and if not, it would be helpful if someone explained what was still needed in the stickied thread.

AC:CF/AC:WW Agenda

I have to say I disapprove of this one. I don't believe that the staff and SIC should be able to make all of the stickied guides, I believe it is fair to let the rest of the users make their own, and if they want, the SIC and staff can make their own. Whatever one is better should be used. Either that, or when the threads are made, the regular members should be able to help and give their ideas, and then when there are new good ideas, the guide would be made.

Turning guides into Static pages

Great idea. Many people complain that they like the site, but it does not have good helpful information available for non members. This would make those people notice them better. However, I do not think that making them all on the left bar would be the best way to deal with it. I believe under the "Gameplay" bar, there should be 5 things. AC:GC guides, AC:WW guides, AC:CF guides, E-Reader Cards (AC:GC) and AC Catalogs (All Games). The current things could be merged into one of those.

AC:CF Avatars

AC:CF Avatars (more of them) would be really nice. I don't really think we need new backgrounds that we do not have now, but I think 1 scout avatar that is not used could be made a normal member avatar background.

AC:CF Maps

These would be cool and helpful, although that will take a really long time. In the mean time, I think there should be a place where the map would be where you could type a 1,000 or less character description of your town.

ACC Newsletter

This was a great one. I loved it. Keep it up. Also, try to make it a bit longer. Now that they are starting to have regular members write articles, I hope it will be better.

Regional Exclusives Guide

I believe that would be something any member could do. Someone should just make one, if they can. I would, but I don't play AC:CF that much, and now that the staff has put that in the SIC work list, I don't know if members can make it.

New Homepage Banners

Is the birthday one new? I would love this idea. That would be cool.

Get rid of e-Reader Cards Board & NES Games Board

Done. I didn't like the idea, but it is done, so I guess we will never have it again. Goodbye NES and E-Reader boards! *cries*

Animal Pics

I don't play AC:WW, so this wouldn't do much for me, but I think it is still a good idea. Also, there should be some way for when you look at someones town where the characters are, you can put your mouse over the character name, and then their catchphrase will appear.

AC:LGTTC - Suggestion

If we did this, it would be only fair to have the Japan gamecube ones, animal forest, and games like that for other areas. Plus, we would have people going "How do I get AC:LGTTC!" and stuff. I don't agree on this one. Although, we should have everything that says AC:CF say AC:Wii, a admin said they would do that before it came out, but they didn't.

More Emotes

I think they should have an emote for every AC emote for every game, both what you do and the villagers do, and only those. That would be hard to program though.

Contest Ideas

I think we need more contests, the only problem is what. I think a banner contest would be nice, and possibly a ACC past trivia contest much like the official ACC riddle contest.

Admin and Mod Staff Pages

I agree. Why do scouts get all of the attention If possible, I could help with what it could say, I just need to know if I can and who to PT.

Thumbs Up/Down Post Rating System

In my opinion, this is the worst idea of them all. Anything that would be thumbs down would be spam, and the rest is all opinions. Plus, giveaway A could have all of their workers thumbs down giveaway B's threads to make them less popular. I say no way.

ACC Activity Pages

I know ACC's newsletter only has 1 issue, but I would love to see this included some time.

Being able to see how long you've been online

I wouldn't use it much, and this is probably at the bottom of jader's list, but this would be good because some users like the idea, and no one really hates it.

Showing Wifi Ratings under posts

I don't have wifi, but I believe it should be either that and feedback or none of them. I say none, because people could believe people with more/better ratings are better ACC users, more mature, and know more, which is not true.

Active/Idle Icons next to Staff Names

Great idea. Wouldn't take long (at least I don't think, but I don't know much about coding stuff), and if you needed a modmin, you could get help fast.

FCR Checkboxes

It takes 2 seconds to remove, so not really needed, but when jader wants something to do, he could do this.

Printable AC:CF Patterns

I like this idea also. I don't know java or javascript yet, but the quote makes it sound easy, so why not?

The Trading Post-- Block e-card trades, and ACGC-only

I would like to see this. As a GC trader, I have to make sure the other person is talking about GC. Plus, some people don't want to be bugged about their e-cards.

Character Count on Signature

Most people don't change their Signature often, but when I do, it can be hard. Plus, I think the signature size should be changed to from where it starts now to where an ad would start. In some cases, that would be less, and in some, more.

Random Avatar Generator

That just encourages people to change their avatars more often, which is a bad thing. If hoggle had a jader avatar and posted an thread I read, I wouldn't realize he was jader until someone in a chat thread or BT started going crazy. That is assuming it is not April 1st. That is the 1 day of the year you can't trust those mods.

Updating the Profile

Yes, but it seems ACC does not like FB (abbreviated). But a better profile system would be cool.

ACC Youtube Account

I don't have a youtube account, but I like this idea. New people would see it and join ACC.

It's just one less step. If anyone has better ones, they are free to submit them. All guides that were influenced by user-created ones give credit where credit is due. We made these guides in HTML format from the guides on the CF/WW General boards, and those were made through a combined effort of staff and users.

This is under progress, there are some major HTML issues we need to tighten up, to keep them up to speed with Jader's standards, and we're close to finishing.

Regional Exclusives Guide

These are just ideas we bounce off of each other, and there is no reason that YOU can't turn a guide into a static page (in HTML), or make your own guide, or submit your own avatars (that follow ACC standards of course) for the site to use. The SIC is a body that is able to work in close relations with the staff to hopefully get things done quicker, which we do. Just because something pops up on the SIC work list does not mean you have to stop writing your guides, or creating your personal newsletter, or anything of the sort.

Get rid of e-Reader Cards Board & NES Games Board

Just a note, when this happened, there were TWO threads (7 posts) on the E-Reader board, and about 7 threads on the NES boards. Not exactly enough to call a board.

This is actually a site mechanic, and isn't something we (or even Jader) could easily change.

That would require some unknown kind of thingamajig. Literal coding. A new script. And if you are redirected, that means it has been archived. Also, ALL threads are archived. Every last one of them.

And are you saying that the town tunes board is a board?

I know I can make my own guides and stuff. It just seems like you are trying to tightly control all guides now.

You lost me once you passed the HTML stuff. If jader can make a system where when I hit a button and type stuff in, then hit the button again, then it will make a bunch of stuff appear, change my profile, add a new flagged thread, make markup appear, and stuff like that, I don't see why he can't make it redirect to a new page.

And would it be any help for me to make my 2 stickied guides into HTML?

Town Tunes is... iffy, but it still sees SOME activity, and we discussed it, I believe, but where would we put it? It's got SOME discussion, and 3 different stickies would be unwieldy.

The threads are direct links to the server. I don't know much about it, but I'd assume that there would be more coding than just a redirect.

You'd have to contact a modmin for that last one.

Yeah. To be fair, members did have about 7 whole months to create them before the staff ones really started appearing.

As for submitting content, I was envisioning something like the SIC Application submissions, where only the staff could see them, because all we would have to do is switch which board the topic went to.

ACC town tune jukebox

This would be really hard to code I would have to think. Also, the town tunes are not being used that much anymore, so I have to say that I don't agree on this one.

ACC Communities

I think at this time that idea would not be the best. I don't understand the whole thing, but people seem to make their own BT communities.

AC:WW constellation maker

This would have to be in AC:CF also. I don't see why it is needed, but then again I also do not see why the town tunes or patterns are needed, but we have them, so I think it would be only fair to make this. But shouldn't be at the top of anyone's lists.

AC:WW trading

I don't think a trading system would be a good idea. We have the FCR system in place, so you can use that. I am not even sure how that would work.

Adding missing characters

I agree, but as I am talking someone is probably doing just that.

Alert for pattern vote and Alert for new Wi-fi rating

Why? For trades and trade messages, they are for important stuff like when someone enters a code, and you CAN RESPOND. For flagged threads, you have something important and you CAN RESPOND. Same with PT's, and notifications and UT's.

Anniversary Icons/Events

I think they should be treated just as birthdays, but it would need to be an anniversary icon or list. Great idea.

Appear offline option

I know (well I think) other sites have this, but I don't think it is the thing for ACC. Jader and Hoggle deserve this, but no one else. What if you have to contact them, but you have no idea they are on?

Communities is that that thing where everyone is split up like

A community
and
B community


and they have separate boards and you don't see their posts or threads right?

I don't think so, I thought that there would be all of ACC's boards and stuff, plus a few smaller ones with their own boards to, so every member could have 2 sets of boards. We could have mod communities, led by mods

It just seems to split the community up. Friends might get split and you might not meet that person that you otherwise might. IDK it just feels wrong and bad for ACC. My $.02

I seem to have 2 thoughts about that. The first one is yours. The other one is that if all of the active members were spit into groups of 100, we would know them much better.

My other really good friend Aldericon is a member of CGB because of 3 of her other great friends are there now I'm in a predicament. Also what if the answer to your question isn't able to be answered by a person in your CG? I think that most boards are better not split-up.

What if there are user created Communitys? They would have 1 board that only shows up for their community members (and staff, of course) which you can be in more then 1? They could have teheir own stickys (which the maker of the community stickys) and only the maker can add you to the community?

And the point of this would be???

To have people talking, and have smaller communitys (about 100 maybe) in which you can know the people around you, other then having (what is it, 10 000?) people all talking to each other, which you have no idea who it is talking to you.

BTs and PTs are fine for me to get to know people well I met people and got close to them in Giveaways as well, if you want to get close to people a BT and other chat PTs can do this

Block FCRs

This would be a great idea! Some people want to take a break for a week. Also, we should have the option to block wifi requests for certain games, but allow them for others.

Bookmarks

I don't think this idea is good. Just about everything can be found throughout the site, plus you can bookmark something in your browser. There are also flagged threads and buddies.

Buddy categories

I think that would be a good idea. I have people I need to add to every giveaway PT, people I wifi with a lot, and then just buddies. I would like to see this on ACC some time soon.

Changing your username

I would say know. There are 2 reasons for this. The first is that when you sign up, you should make sure you like your username. Also, let's say hoggle changed his username. They also took him off the staff list. That would be confusing. So if I was friends with a user, but they were not on my buddy list, then they change their username, and I have no ice who they are.


Also, on the current suggestions list, you should have a part for already on SIC work list, a part for thinking about, and a part for no.
