You wanna learn how to make bells easy and quick? You've come to the right place, then. This guide contains information that's very useful for people without Action Replay.Making BellsHaving a large fortune at your disposal opens up avenues that the new player
coming into town in debt could barely dream of. You'll be able to pay off your
house upgrades. You'll be able to buy virtually any item you want at Tom
Nook's Shop and at the Able Sisters'. You'll be able to engage in trades for
high price items on Wi-Fi. And you'll finally be able to buy a lot of turnips,
which have the potential to increase your fortune exponentially.
The first part of this section deals with basic money-making techniques that
the average player can engage in. The second part deals with the "Stalk
Market". Trading turnips is an activity that requires a good deal of bells to
get started, although it is undoubtedly the money-making method that will net
you the most profit.
Basic TechniquesHere are some basic money-making ventures that will help you build your
fortune. For the most part, these methods do not include using Wi-Fi or DS-to-
DS gameplay. Information on the turnip trade is in the following section.
FishingFishing is one of the easiest and, in my opinion, one of the best ways to make
money in the game. All it requires is a Fishing Rod from Tom Nook's Shop and a
little patience. Most
players prefer to fish for profit in the river because there is a greater
variety of valuable fish there and also because there aren't any sea bass,
which in the ocean are often confused for large, rare fish when they are in
reality quite worthless if sold.
When you catch a fish you can either sell it, donate it to the Museum, or keep
it in your house as a pet. Early in the game I would suggest taking all of
your catches to the Museum (if you value a full Museum) rather than Nook's, and
then taking fish you have caught that have already been donated to Nook's.
Feel free to do as you see fit depending on if you value a full Museum or
getting another house upgrade more.
You will notice availability and peak times for every variety of fish. Fishing is a seasonal activity, as valuable fish tend to appear only in certain
times of the year. If it is raining or snowing in your town, make sure to
fish. The rain tends to coax out more valuable fish, including the Coelcanth.
All in all, fishing is very easy, requires a minimal cash investment, and
yields an almost immediate return. It is highly advisable to fish until you
can afford to invest in the Stalk Market and use other techniques, and to keep
fishing when the opportunity strikes then.
Insect HuntingCatching insects is another common method to make money. All you will need is
a Net, which may be obtained via Tom Nook's Shop. I find insect hunting a much
more tedious task than fishing. Bugs will appear in more places, are more
easily scared away, and can actually fight back (bees, mosquitoes, scorpions,
etc.). However, it can still be profitable if you are a good hunter.
Bugs are available only in certain times of the day and in certain times of the
year. Some will not be available when it is running, while others will become
more prevelant (eg. snail). Furthermore, some won't be available while your
gates are open. Pick and choose your bug hunting times carefully.
To sum up bug catching: it's often not as easy as fishing, but you would do
well to practice both activites early in the game if you have the available
tools with which to do so.
Finding FossilsAlthough only three fossils will generate in your town daily (if you
consistently find all of them on a daily basis), they are valuable items. When
you dig up a fossil, as shown by a star-shaped indentation in the ground, you
must take it to Blathers for identification. You may sell or donate the fossil
once it has been identified.
There are two types of fossils: normal (stand alone) fossils and lovely
(skeleton piece) fossils. Lovely fossils sell for a higher price, and among
lovely fossils, skull fossils will sell for the highest price. Whether you
sell, donate, or keep the fossil in your house will largely depend on what the
fossil is and what you value. If you value your Museum, you should donate the
first fossils of any type you find, but if the fossil is especially valuable
you may wish to sell it for some quick bells.
There is a way to abuse the identification process to make sure you receive the
kind of identified fossil you receive. The type of fossil the unidentified
fossil will be is only determined when the fossil is given to Blathers. This
means that if you have some unidentified fossils with you and save the game
before talking to Blathers, you can keep having him identify the fossils and
you will receive a different fossil everytime. If you don't receive the fossil
you want, you can simply reset if you are willing to deal with Resetti.
Overall, selling fossils is a good method to make cash, but it is more suited
to players that have just begun the game. They will fetch the bells players
need to attain the first few house upgrades, but after that selling fossils is
less profitable than other methods and players tend to focus more on the Museum
by that point, making donating fossils a better option.
GyroidsYou may also find gyroids when digging for fossils. Each one will sell for 828
bells. Gyroids are not very useful items-- all they do is make noise when
placed in your house. Sell them all for some quick bells, especially if you
are early in the game.
The Bell RockEach day, one rock in your town will shoot out a bell bag if you hit it with
your shovel. The "Bell Rock" (or "Red Rock" in the original Animal Crossing)
will change daily.
The number of hits you can get depends on both your timing and how you have
positioned your character. Regularly you will be pushed slightly backward each
time you hit the rock. If you dig holes around your character in such a way
that you will be pushed back into the holes rather than back away from the
rock, you can get more hits in and more bells out of the rock. Try to position
yourself in such a way that you are wedged between two holes to prevent recoil
and the loss of valuable time. Alternatively, you can brace yourself against a
wall without any holes if the rock in question is just one free space away from
a wall.
If your timing was perfect and you have braced yourself correctly you can
attain seven bell bags or possibly an eight bell bag, bringing the number of
bells you could get to a whopping 16,500. If you do manage to smack the eighth
money bag out, it will land where you are standing, interestingly enough.
Although timing and preventing recoil are the two most important factors, the
yellow feng shui score of your house may be a factor in getting the elusive
eighth bell bag.
Using the Bell Rock to make money is a very good idea. It can be done daily
and with multiple characters, although it could potentially be time consuming.
Regardless, I believe a little time investment would be a small price to pay
for 16,500 bells.
Present BalloonsBalloons carrying valuable presents will float across the sky daily from 10am
to 4pm. However, they will only appear when the time's minute is at a 4 (at
12:34, 3:04, etc.).
Hit these down with your Slingshot, then find the item at the north end of your
town. The present will often be a valuable furniture item that you can sell.
Present balloons are a good casual method of making money. There's nothing to lose.
