Welcome to the Official HDLC Guide! I know many of you are filled with questions on Hacked Downloadable Content. Unfortunately, I've had the same thing happen to me, and I was EXTREMELY worried. I found out answers, so I decided to make a guide on this tricky topic. Enjoy, and be informed!
Table of Contents:Chapter One: HDLC- What the heck is that?!
Chapter Two: Have you seen it in your Able Sisters Store?

Chapter One: What the Heck is HDLC?
HDLC stands for:
Hacked
Down
Loadable
Content
Now when most people see the word, "Hacked" they began to freak out. "Will it destroy my Wii?" "What does it do?" It simply means that you are a hacker, a hacker has visited your town, or you visited a hacker’s town.
It may be a different version of an item, for example, the DimentioMaskHDLC, which is a copy of the clown mask. (Note: I will explain about the DimentioMaskHDLC more in Chapter Two) The lightsaber, which is called LightSabreV2, is a hacked version of the Golden Axe.
The communities of hackers have managed to obtain a variety of hacked items, and they have a lot. These are available to trade over Wi-Fi to non-hackers. These are considered hacked items but are not to be confused with HDLC.
Another variety of HDLC are called
OHDLC, which stands for
Overlapped
Hacked
Downloadable
Content. Overlapped items are available exclusively to hackers. HDLC are distributed similarly to official DLCs except they are NOT allowed or related with the official Nintendo released DLCs in any way. The HDLC items include the ShinyBluePikmin, blue and red light sabers, TriPokeball, the red and blue demon masks and the Dimentio mask. Also note that for the HDLC items that are masks, like the Dimentio mask and Demon mask, non-hackers can only have ONE of these items.

Chapter Two: Eeek! The Dimentio Mask is in my Able Store?!
No need to freak out, the exact same thing happened to me. One day, I was in my Able Sisters when I saw a funny looking mask with a moon for eyes and a black and white face. I saw that it was called, “DimentioMsk HDLC.” Out of sheer curiosity, I purchased it for 120 bells. When I learned what is was I was scared to death.
How had hacked items gotten into my Able Sisters!? The answer seemed impossible to solve. Then I learned the oh so simple answer:
When someone with a hacked town visited, or someone who has been visited by another person with a hacked town, the hacked item appears in the Able Sisters. What? A DimentioMsk HDLC, which is a hacked version of the Clown Mask, and the new hacked item, the DemonMskR HDLC, available in your Able Store UNTIL you buy the HDLC. There is no need to fear, it will never appear in you Able Sisters again until you buy the item. (Sorry for some confusion with that)

Chapter Three: Could my Wii or my Game be harmed? Is There Any Way to Stop It?
The answer is
NO. In very, very rare cases, your Wii can be damaged, but those situations are very rare. You will now have the “virus” (which does not affect you) and if you visit another un-hacked person’s town, you will give them the “virus” So no need to fear, odds are that you will not be harmed. Yay!
There are no ways to stop the virus from spreading, so you are virtually defenseless. There is no way to stop the virus, and sometimes you are not able to detect it. The only way to know if you have the virus or not, are if you have Hacked DLC in you Able Sisters, and other than that, there is no way of knowing if you have the virus or not.
The virus spreads very quickly, and the only way to be immune with it is to have never done Wi-Fi with people who have had the “virus” The hacked DLC items, like official DLC items, are assigned to hex addresses that were left empty for this purpose.
Let’s say they go in addresses 1a, 1b, and 1c. When Nintendo wants to release official DLC items, they may eventually use those certain addresses. It is not currently known what will happen to the items official, or unofficial. There are rumors of the hacked DLC items just disappearing from your game, replaced by the official DLC items, which would only be able to be stopped by turning off WiiConnect24 and not receiving the items. Others claim that having unofficial DLC on your system will prevent the official items from being received.

Chapter Four: What Items Are They?
Here’s a list of the 6 most Wide-Spread Hacked DLC:
ShinyBluePikmin: A color-negative version of the red Pikmin. It can enter a character's catalog - it buys and sells for 2 bells.
BlueLightSabreV1 and
RedLightSabreV1: Both are versions of a golden axe, model and texture edited with the intention of being similar to a lightsaber. These aren't able to be cataloged. Tom Nook can buy the BlueLightSabreV1 for 1,750,000 bells (though impossible to sell because you can’t hold all the bells), and the RedLightSabreV1 sells for 250,000 bells at Tom Nook’s.
TriPokeballHDLC: It is a hacked version of the triple shell but was edited to look like three pokeballs from Pokémon. As the ShinyBluePikmin, the TriPokeballHDLC is able to be catalogued. It costs 1024 bells in Tom Nook´s catalogue.
DimentioMskHDLC: A hacked Version of the clown mask that has been edited to look like the Dimentio Mask from Paper Mario. It is, like the ShinyBluePikmin, able to be catalogued. You can buy the DimentioMskHDLC for 120 bells in the catalogue.
DemonMskR HDLC: We don’t a lot about this new HDLC, but I will update if I find out more.
Here is some
OHDLC:BigAxe1- It’s a larger version of a Golden Axe with a larger handle. It looks just like its name.
BigAxe2- It’s a larger version of a Golden Axe with a regular sized handle.
Big Green Crayon- A large Green Crayon (texture hack of Golden Axe)
Big Red Crayon- A large Red Crayon (texture hack of Golden Axe)
Guitar- A guitar that you hold by the neck (texture hack of Golden Axe) This item is new.
Lame Katana sword- A sword. (a texture hack of Golden Axe) This is new.
