Recently, the SIC (Site Improvements Committee) has gotten much more involved, from completing guides across all three Animal Crossing games to trying to get the new images for the AC:CF maps finished.

While Jedi273 was kind enough to post a thread about the current common suggestions, this will be updated to show what the SIC is currently working on.

Things currently being discussed on the SIC are in red, things in the development phase are in orange and finished (implemented) features are in green. Dates after the title of each thread tells when it was originally created (however, all ideas listed have been posted in within the last month).

Current SIC Work List

» AC:CF Catalog Items (12/11/08)- Basically an updated list of AC:CF items (along with their pictures), to be added to the site by Jader.

» AC:CF Maps (7/16/09)- We have all the tiles for CF Maps and are waiting for jader to program it into the site.

» AC:LGTTC - Suggestion (12/7/08)- To quote: "Under our avatars we have either an AC:GC, AC:WW or an AC:CF town and character. I thought that when we make our town we add another option, AC:LGTTC. After yesterdays experience there were a lot of people wanting to visit a European town to participate in "Naughty or Nice Day". With AC:LGTTC under European avatars it will be more easy to find someone from different continents. Eg. America - Europe & Austrailia. This will favour the boards in a way that will prevent almost everyone making threads asking to visit a certain continent's town." After jader finishes uploading some of the latest guides, we hope to bring this idea to his attention.

» "ACC Help" page (12/14/09)- Just some updates we're working on for the ACC Help section of ACC. aldericon is currently working on it with another member.

» FCR Checkboxes (8/21/09)- Why not put check boxes next to the FCRs, so when someone has a whole lot of them they can check them and delete a bunch at a time. They could choose to refuse all of the selected or accept all of the selected. Also, there should be an option to automatically check all of the boxes. This pretty much explains it. Hopefully we can implement it.

» Character Count on Signature (8/25/09)- To quote: "I think it would be convenient to have a character count on your signature like on your profile, as it can get annoying when you don't know when you've gone over the limit, and receive an alert telling you you've got over 75 on one of the lines. It would be easier and would save a lot of time." We hope to bring this to jader's attention after he finished uploading the recent guides.

» Password Reset Suggestion (1/10/10)- We're discussing ways to have the Password Reset option differently so that members won't be able to purposely reset other member's passwords.

» Turning guides into Static pages (11/26/09)- All guides that have been posted on the AC:WW General, and AC:GC General boards, we're currently trying to make into real pages on the site (located under Gameplay on the left sidebar). We have finished making these into HTML pages, and hope to have them live soon.

» Random Avatar Generator (8/29/09)- As quoted: I change my avatar almost every... two minutes because going through everything, I can't decide which one I want. I was thinking, there should be another option where it just randomly generates an avatar for you. I would really love to just be able to get some random choice and go with it.

» Option to change the Date format from MM/DD/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY (7/23/10) - Self Explanatory.

» Updating Profile Information (9/19/10) - Adding more information on the contact information in your profile.

» Eliminating "Ban Check" Methods (7/6/10) - Getting rid of the various ways to check if a user is banned or not.

» FCR Checkboxes (8/21/09) - Adding checkboxes next to friend codes so you can mass delete them.

» http:// prefix problem with profile's website and picture links (1/2/10) - Getting rid of the http:// prefix found in the profile.

» Strikethrough markup (8/11/09) - Adding the ability of strikethrough markup to all users and not just administrators.

» Fixing emote codes (6/11/10) - Fixing emotes that are case sensitive.

» Adding multiple people to a PT via comma (7/25/10) - Self explanatory.

»

(7/25/10) - Mass disable markup. Simply by adding these two codes to the beginning and end of markup disables it, getting rid of the need to everything.

» Minimize option for ACC Wifi (7/25/10) - Like the ACC Buddy list, being able to minimize the ACC WiFi lists.

» Towns > Museum, Fruit & Residents (7/22/10) - Updating the information under "My Towns" for the Museum, Fruit and Residents (so they actually work!).

» An official thread/username finder (8/7/10) - We're currently waiting for jader's opinion on it, but we're hoping to find a way to add these, discussing several options.

» Fixing the Horizontal Bar (FireFox) (8/12/10) - For those using Firefox, you probably see a horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen when on ACC. We're hoping to get rid of this.

» "New Rating" Alert (8/1/10) - Whenever someone gives you a rating or updates a rating for you, you get a notification.

» "Emotes" box in profile (8/12/10)- Adding the Emotes box into the profile for use of updating the "About Me" section.

» Links to boards on Flagged Threads and My Threads (8/11/10) - Basically, to make it look like this.

» Sorting PTs - Not Into Folders (8/13/10)- Making the "Title", "Posted By" and "Last Post" linkable to sort them by that.

» Pattern Storage (8/10/10) - Under Patterns on the sidebar, there would be a new submenu called "My Flagged Patterns". A Flag icon will appear next to all patterns, and any that you flag will appear under here.

» Thumbs Up/Down Post Rating System (6/22/09)- We're discussing if we should (pros/cons), and how to, implement a way so users can "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" a post, making it less or more popular. This has been put off for discussion as we try to finish some of the things in orange first.

» Printable AC:CF Patterns (8/11/09)- To quote: "While I realize that updating the pattern maker itself is a slim chance, allowing users to change palettes when viewing a pattern's printable version isn't that difficult: it only really involves changing some background colors (which can be done with Javascript). So basically, when you're viewing a Pattern in the "Printable" mode, you'll be able to switch it from AC:WW to AC:CF, without having to remake the pattern into the other game. We hope to bring this to jader's attention after he finished uploading the recent guides.

» PT Folders (11/11/09)- Mentioned many times, PT Folders will make it easier to sort all your PT's into folders. We do have a plan for how to do these, and we're waiting for jader to give his opinion on it before we move on and start working on it.

» Bell Shop (7/13/10)- For all the bells that you have found in the Treasure Hunt, you will be able to spend them in the Bell Shop for AC related items (these will be site items, not in game items.)

» AC:CF Avatars (8/18/08)- We're trying to find pictures of all the new characters and even old ones and update them into the AC:CF versions, and even might create some new backgrounds. We're currently waiting for jader to upload some of the latest ones we've finished.

» New Homepage Banners (11/3/07)- Know the banners on the front page? They look like this. We hope to be making new ones for holidays and seasons.

» Animal Pics (2/13/07)- To add pictures of the Animal Pictures in AC:WW to the ACC catalog.

» More Emotes (8/10/09)- Using our wonderful artistic skills, we hope to be making and adding more (f)emotes to the site. Thanks to some of our wonderful artistic skills, we have some of them done, and we're working on animating them.

» Admin, Mod and SIC Pages (6/27/09)- Like the Scouts have a page if you click their badge, we're working on creating a page so when you click an admin badge or the mod badge, and get updated info about their job and what they can do. This will now also include a page for SIC members. We have finished making these, we're just making some last minute changes of them, and they should be up soon.

» Being able to see how long you've been online (8/10/09)- Pretty simply. With Jader's help, we're hoping to, under the "Logged in as USERNAME" thing on the left sidebar, to add how long you've been on. Short, simple, and easy to implement. We hope to bring this to jader's attention after he finished uploading the recent guides.

» Showing Wifi Ratings under posts (8/7/09)- We'd like to have it so, alongside Catalog, Ecards, Feedback, and Patterns at the bottom of posts, WiFi ratings are also shown, making it easier for people to see who to WiFi with. We hope to bring this to jader's attention after he finished uploading the recent guides.

» Active/Idle Icons next to Staff Names (8/16/09)- We hope, next to the ACC Staff names, to add a little Active/Idle icon so users can easily tell if a staff member is on or not, like from the Buddy list. We hope to bring this to jader's attention after he finished uploading the recent guides.

» Cleaning Up Site Suggestions (1/31/10)- After noticing that a lot of suggestions seem to be redundant, we're discussing possible solutions to this that will benefit ACC the most, as jader201 is not as active as we would like. This includes, but is not limited to, updating the List of Current Suggestions sticky.

» "Official Nintendo News" (9/2/09)- As quoted: While cmh was a Site Manager, he updated this thread regularly. It hasn't gotten an update since. Are we still receiving these news updates, and if so, could someone (BB, Dalek) start posting them again? Check the locked sticky on the Videogames board if you have no idea what I'm talking about.
We have also created an Official European/UK news thread too.

» Riddle Contest (8/29/09)- The best way to explain it is to look at the thread already set up here.

» Ask the Staff Questions (7/27/09)- Recently, the Ask the Staff board has been quite dusty, with no one posting on it. We've gone through the suggestions thread, and are on our way to making a list of questions, to be answered (two weekly) by the staff.

» Birthday Icon added to Legend (9/27/08)- Pretty basic concept, to re-add the Birthday Icon to the Legend at the bottom of all Forum pages. It became implemented on 8/10/09, one of the first seen updates Jader has made in a while.

» "Process for Submitting Guides" Guide (12/16/07)- Really, to explain what it is, all you have to do is check out this thread.

» AC:CF/AC:WW Agenda (11/14/08)- A (rather large) list of Guides that have been completed in both AC:WW and AC:CF. Once completed they are posted on the AC:CF General board and the AC:WW General board respectively.

» ACC Newsletter (3/24/09)- As you've seen with the poll, we're working on an "official" ACC newsletter. For example, how to distribute it, what material it will have, who will write it, etc. To help, check out this thread. Please flag this thread if you'd like to keep updated with the newsletter!

» Get rid of e-Reader Cards Board & NES Games Board (8/3/09)- The idea is to get rid of these two boards and make them stickies on the AC:GC General board instead.

» ACC Werewolf Contest (8/1/09)- After reviewing the Contests Board, we've decided to bring back The Official ACC Werewolf. Sign-ups can be found here (sign-up are now closed until the second game starts).

» Official Game Tournaments (11/3/08)- Official Tournaments for any FC games, run by SIC, can be found on the General WiFi Lobby board.

» Official DNC Lists (7/27/09)- As you saw from the announcement, we now have Universal DNC lists, located here and here. We are discussing ways to make this better.

» SIC Photo update (11/7/09)- The SIC photo has been updated to include links to the profiles of all SIC members.

» Contest Ideas (7/24/09)- New contests ideas, as well as how to run new ones, running current ones, etc.

» Regional Exclusives Guide (8/14/09)- We have created the regional exclusive items, excluding DLC items guide, and can now be found here.

» SIC Badge (11/13/09)- As you may have seen, there is now a SIC badge that shows up next to any SIC members name on their posts, this makes it easier to recognize SIC members.

» Turning guides into Static pages (6/27/09)- All guides that have been posted on the AC:CF General board have been converted into real pages on the site (located under Gameplay on the left sidebar).

» ACC Activity Pages (11/9/08)- Basically a page, or a stickied thread, where you can go to get images that are mazes, connect the dots, coloring pages, etc, related to ACC or AC-related. The SIC is thinking about adding this onto the SIC Newsletter, Second Edition.

» Treasure Hunt (6/21/10)- Random Treasure bell ads show up where normal ads would show, you can claim these bells, and at a later point, use them to buy special items from the Bell Shop.

Rejected Ideas

» Option to Hide Your Birthday (7/29/09)- (I understand a way to change it is to click "Report a Problem", but I think mods/admins have more important things to do than change/hide birthdays, so this could make things run a little smoother. Additionally, this option would not change your birthday, just simply hide it.) From what I can remember, we originally decided not to have this avaliable to members because we didn't want people to abuse this, and, unfortunately, because Jader has more important things to do then add something that the modmins can already do.

» Temporarily lock threads (8/25/09)- (I think it would be cool. on some shops on the trading boards, or giveaways on the giveaway board say: currently not taking orders.....so maybe if you could lock for a period of time. but of course if a staff member locks it, it can't be unlocked) Best quoted: I don't see any practical use for this either. From experience, if you are at a point where you can't handle the giveaway orders and need to lock it, you're probably going to have the giveaway fail rather soon.

» Community Foodfight (8/30/09)- (Explained in this thread.) Many of the SIC members felt that this was a great idea, until someone mentioned: It sound too much like an RPG thread to me. If others thought the same thing, then I could see this getting reported.; and, as others mentioned: I don't see why we can't just participate in a forum game... there's no need to sticky, because then people will want every type of game stickied. So while we're allowing it to exist, we can't sticky it.

» Town Tunes Idea (7/11/09)- (How about we get something that lets you know how many people has used your submitted Town Tune as their Tune. And maybe rankings for the most used Town Tune. I always wanted to see how many people used my Town Tunes and what the most popular Town Tune was, so I think it's a great idea.) We rejected this because: 1) You can't hear town tunes on the site, so it would be hard for people to know if they like a tune or not without adding it to their town (yes, we did consider making it possible to hear Town Tunes), 2) Unlike patterns, there are much more finite tunes, and less room for original ideas -- most tunes are of popular tunes, and when a submitted town tune becomes a top 10 tune, people will complain that the author took the tune from either a popular song, or another ACC user that did the same/similar tune (i.e. we probably have a lot of dupes) and 3) The whole voting/ranking thing is pretty complex, and probably not worth putting the time in at this point. If we put time into anything, it would probably be better spent on other ideas first.

» ACC Toolbar (7/31/09)- (I think that this is a great idea because... ACC could put icons and stuff have a little log in bar and it can tell you if you have private messages or a announcement so you could have some main things the like drop down buddies list subscribed thread thing some stuff like that, Links and tools that we use a good bit when were on here please don't flame me i think it would be great to have but we don't need just to make ACC more assessable or like short cuts.) It was well received, but then we learned that a pretty good ACC Toolbar could be found here (and on a different note, a good ACC Search can be found here).

» Replace '!' Report Problem with Pitfall Seed (10/30/08)- (Basically to subsitute the ! sign with a Pitfall Seed.) As BowserBasher said: I think this is an instance when it needs to remain as it is. Pitfalls are associated fun and games. Our ! is supposed to be for rule violations which are not fun and games.

» ACC Time Zones Guide (8/9/09)- (I think it would be convenient for ACC to have a section or a stickied thread of all convenient time zones with their time differences in hours to the ACC clock, and also their time zone stated. This would make it easier for people who have delivering etc jobs and things here on ACC, and customers could understand the times easier.) Basically why it was rejected: Time zones seem like something I could look up on google and find out how far I am from ACC time pretty easily. Plus, I think the average member knows how many hours from ACC time they are. I dunno. It just seems like a common sense thing. If someone's delivery is at 5:00 ACC time and I'm 5 hours behind them, then its Noon my time.

» A "What to do In Case of Spammers" Post (8/16/07)- (With this sudden spike in spam and trolls on the boards (I've noticed at least two or three threads every night on the Off Topic board alone), I think we need to let members know what to do when they see those threads. A lot of the time, the biggest problem is the reactions of the members, and I think if we can make it clearer to just ignore and report, be it through a sticky on the Site Support board, or an announcement, we can save a lot of flaming, trolling, and messes for the moderators to clean up.) To put it simply, spam isn't as much of a problem as it was back then, so we never implemented this because we have the UT system.

» Making it so only New members and Staff can create topics on the ACC Welcome Board (2/5/07)- (Self-explanatory.) Not only because there are more important things which require Jader's attention, but there is not really a lot of posts on that board anymore that aren't new members.

» User Selectable Season Skins (12/7/06)- (Every user would initially join with the seasonal setting but could change it, from Spring to Winter, or from Summer to Fall.) We eventually decided against this for two reasons: 1) Season skins is a part of ACC, making it unique and 2) If you want to change your "skin", go ahead and change your Browser's color, not ACC's.

» Retire Pablo (9/21/08)- (Pablo (the ACC devil, aka error boy) needs to be retired. On the suggestions board, someone suggested that he be replaced by Resetti.) After little discussion, we've decided that there are better things that need to be done first.

» Countdown Clock (12/21/09)- (I think we had one for the release of City Folk, right? This sounds like a fun idea. A countdown until the new year.) Denied because of the majority of us wanting to keep the countdown clocks used only for AC purposes.

» Gender Sign (12/28/09)- (Gender sign next to username for people, easily telling people if they were a girl or a boy.) We already had an option for this in user's profiles, and we seemed to have enough badges already.

» Hacking discussion (2/19/09)- (Allow the discussion of hacking on ACC) After more discussion, the staff have decided to leave this rule as is. The staff do not want ACC to be seen as endorsing the use of devices that may have the potential to be harmful to the game or console. Hacking is not to be discussed on ACC.

» ACC Youtube Account (10/17/09)- (ACC YouTube page) It was suggested that ACC have a youtube account, for videos to be posted about ACC, the AC games, and even guides, etc. We also hope that it might draw in some more people from Youtube onto ACC.

» Updating the Profile (9/19/09)- (Updating Profile page) We're hoping to get jader to add more options under the "Contact" section in the profile, as well as, possibly, some other needed sections.

» AddThis (8/12/10)- (An application that would allow you to share patterns, public threads and town tunes on social networking sites.) The main thing is that it wouldn't fit in with ACC's look, as well as jader not wanting the icon on ACC.

» SIC Members Link (8/12/10)- (Add a SIC Page, much like the ACC Staff static page.) Since many SIC Members felt the "SIC Lightbulb Page" was enough, it was denied.

» Official ACC Profile Contest (7/31/10)- (I know we have lots of little ones on the contest board, but wouldn't it be nice to have a big official one? =) We could run it by having a thread asking people if they would like to take part, and then we could go through rounds and people would be knocked out. I think it'd be fun.) The SIC we conflicted on how this would be judged. Markup quality? Some markup is made by other users. Keyboard art? That's just cut and paste. So it was denied.

~ The SIC

Note: Please remember that the SIC has to discuss, create and thoroughly test every new feature before you will be able to use it. This guarantees that the feature you will see eventually is a good addition, is helpful and works great. Just be patient while we're preparing features for you. Please remember that ideas may be rejected in both the discussion and development phases, albeit due to community opposition, technical limitations or anything else. If you'd like to join the SIC, please check out this thread that explains how to. If you have ideas for the SIC, feel free to post them on the Site Suggestions board (all SIC members keep updated with this board, so it's bound to be noticed sooner or later). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me (aldericon), or any one of our SIC Members!
