I really like them. I have one and I'm getting a second this Wednesday. What are you thinking of getting?
My biggest gripe about the topic of tattoos is when people try to shove on the opinion that they all need to have a story or some crazy ~meaning. I feel like as long as you consent to the fact that it's staying there for the rest of your life, do what you want. The one I'm getting this week doesn't have any particular meaning, no story or anything. I just like it.
But otherwise for the most part, I'm all for it. I appreciate the art and I love coming across a tattoo that I have to stop and go "Oh that's beautiful!"

I'm fine with tattoos, actually I have a small one that I did myself, although it's rather faded and I'm not sure if I'm going to touch it up since it hurt the first time around. It doesn't really have any meaning, but it's my own design. By the way, one place not to put it: The back of your hand, there are a lot of nerve endings there (wish I'd remembered that at the time, ehe). Joints are also rather painful.
But ya, while there are ways to remove tattoos you should really go into getting a tattoo with the attitude that this is something that's going to be on you for the rest of your life. Take some non-toxic marker and draw the tattoo on yourself (to the best of your ability) or use those temporary tattoos if you want to get a taste of what having a tattoo might be like that isn't permanent.
Signature-------------- I love the smell of downed UFO in the morning! No random FCRs please.
I don't have any tattoos because I just don't care much for decorating myself, but I think that tattoos can look really nice on people if done well.
My mom got a garland of flowers tattooed around her wrist and it looks very nice, almost like a permanent bracelet.
My little brother loves tattoos and has several. He has a star of his own design in the middle of his upper back, a shamrock on one arm in honor of my grandma, some type of Asian character that means "rage" and "Good on the back of one arm and Evil on the back of the other. Oh, and he used to have the initials of his girlfriend on his wrist until she became his ex and then he had the tattoo artist add some stuff so that now it's just a random meaningless design.
Neither of them seemed to mind any of the pain from getting their tattoos.
One thing to consider when picking where is how visible it is to an employer and if that matters in your line of work. My mom had to get permission from the HR department of her company to get her tattoo. On the other hand my brother's company doesn't care one bit. It's just something to keep in mind.
I plan on working in the IT department of a company. Because that is an area that doesn't deal with customers, and only co-workers, it's a position where most companies are more lenient when it comes to having tattoos. As far as the company where I'm working as an intern next summer goes, I don't believe they care much for any of their workers (it's a manufacturing plant) as long as isn't offensive.
I'm considering the middle portion of this on my arm or this near my clavicle.
I'm not getting any until I'm like 30 though; I don't want to mark myself up yet.
Signature-------------- I couldn't sleep, I thought of nothing else. I needed help. Everyone was telling me you were moving on for someone else. But what we had was so special, people can't be jealous, oh. I had to see it for myself.
I personally don't have any tattoos and don't really plan on getting any, but if I did I would get a meaningful quote somewhere on my side ribcage. Tattoos have a negative stigma for my parents (read: gangs), so I'd rather not get completely on their bad side.
Signature-------------- Per aspera ad astra. New pic! The problem with humility--nobody knows how cool you are!
sugarbob, I'm thinking of getting a dive flag (scubadiving) but only a cookiecutter version of seahorses. I don't know how to explain it, I'll draw it up and put a link on here.
Signature-------------- Look at the world, && tell me the pleasures of sanity.
I love tattoos and have several. Just be sure to think about it and not just get something spur of the moment. I want to make sure if i get a tattoo I will love it forever. They are addicting though. I am always thinking of the "next" one !!

Well, I've officially got my second tattoo. Took about 20-25 minutes, if that, and cost $80ish. I haven't taken a bandage off yet, but there will be pictures~
I'm planning on getting a caduceus plus DNA strands on my arm at some point, but I'm not sure when. Probably during my next stint in graduate school so my parents can't grump at me about it.
Signature-------------- Passin' on, that's certain. -Hector Barbossa I do not accept random FCRs. Do not send them.
I recommend trying it out in henna first before you decide on anything.
I've been giving myself henna tattoos now for a while and I love them. I haven't had any desire to get an ink tattoo yet because the henna's just so great! It fades in about two weeks, so if you hate the look, no worries.
Signature-------------- Falling in love with Animal Crossing all over again! ~*I have AC:GC and AC:CF~*
If you like tattoos you gotta watch LA Ink. Kat Von D is amazing. I would love to have a tattoo done by her. Everything she does is very creative and like no one else. She has a great style.

I love tattoos I have 4 a dolphin on my ankle, i have a cross with a rose in the middle and below the rose it has a heart with a banner in the middle that says MOM. the vine 2 the rose goes under the cross and drips a red teardrop. i also have on my other ankle a bunch of daisies with a butterfly sittin on top. my mom liked butterflies n daisies, an on my left arm i have my fiances name
I don't mind tattoos but the ones that i feel are a little too much are the full sleeves, half sleeves, and than when you have half of your leg covered in them or even your entire leg covered in them. My opinion on those is it kinda looks like you have a robotic arm or leg. I know that i would most likely never get a tattoo for 2 reasons: 1-i know i would have to live with it on me for the rest of my life and if i decided i don't like it in a few years....too bad. And 2-It goes against my religion to get one. If i ever did get one i wouldn't be able to be buried in a Jewish cemetery.
But since i'm only a teenager i'm not even old enough to get one. I'd rather just make all the cool designs on Photoshop and make them into backgrounds for things. And i'm not really into putting things on my body like piercings and stuff.
Signature-------------- If it looks like chicken, tastes like chicken, and feels like chicken, but Chuck Norris says its beef, than it's beef.
Jewish people with tattoos can be buried in a Jewish cemetery; they can't stop you legally and there isn't usually much of a fuss about it (I've met with a rabbi before when I went to a Catholic school when we were learning about tolerance for other religions, and this topic came up).

I want "nothing without God" in Latin done as a thin arm band. It'll be a greath conversation piece but I'm concerned about the pain. How bad is it?

Speaking of The Deathly Hallows, I'm tempted to get a Harry Potter Tattoo. It may be a tad geeky to have one, but I'd love either a Dark Mark or a Deathly Hallows symbol. =P
