Ack! Great program but Im having a obviously common problem here...It wont send it to acc... I have a theory though. Maybe It only works if IE is your default browser because Im using Mozilla Firefox as my default. My OS is windows ME so my IE is very glitchy. It shouldnt be to hard to fix but I am NOT gonna do it. So.... any volunteers?

I usually have IE set as the default since the family prefers it ( ) and you unfortunately can't have such settings be different for each user... but let me test that out.
Seems it still tries to open it in IE; I probably found a code snippet for how to open an URL in a new IE window and wrangled that into the program. Nothing that can really be done about it at the moment.
EDIT: Good news. The reason I said nothing could be done about it above was I wasn't sure if I could. Looking for the code to the program, I was a bit shocked to only run into the much older code for the February 2003 version, and thought the more recent code might have only been on another PC which may or may not be beyond repair from some electricity problems a few days ago. Luckily I searched further and found a backup ZIPped away, so I can at least investigate the possibility of changing that code. I'm afraid that doesn't help you right now, though. Either you log in in IE or you're out of luck.
Anyway its a start to getting this fixed. Perhaps you could just tell it to open the link in default browser.

Here's the weird thing: looking at that part of the code now, it seems like that's what it SHOULD do. Here's the description text that was along with that part of code...
'PURPOSE: Opens default browser to display URL 'RETURNS: module handle to executed application or 'Error Code ( < 32) if there is an error 'Use one of the constants in the declarations as 'the window state parameter 'can also be used to open any document associated with 'an application on the system (e.g., passing the name 'of a file with a .doc extension will open that file in Word)
So it seems like the way you're set up usually and I was temporarily, it should've gone to Firefox, but didn't. Why? *shrugs* I'll experiment with it, though.
If I have to I will drag out my hacking programming and debugging tools and fix this but as I said before I REALLY dont feel like doing this right now . Maybe If you tried to change the URL text. Is it like http://www.example.com/example or is it www.example.com/example ? You should check the URL. Maybe you could create a seperate URL or shortcut file includd in the zip which the program would trigger. Or tell it to make a shortcut for each pattern when it publishes it? Does that help?
EDIT: I have a temporary solution!!! Tell the publish button to make a url or shortcut in the main folder instead of activating it then drag it into your browser!!! Or have it activate the shortcut it created and then delete it for a slightly odd but working way!

I wonder when Anicro Desparo can be fixe dbecause my idea is only temporary and only an idea. Can we find a way to do this?...I just figured out a way to do it!!! When you push the submit button there should be a little text box under the button where it puts the address after you submit incase you have this glitch! You can press the link from there to try again or drag and drop it into your browser if necessary!!!

That's definitely doable JVAGO and something I considered even when adding the feature originally, but let me tell you why I'd rather have another fix: as far as I know Anicro Desapro is the only external thing which can send patterns to ACC. However, if it displayed as an URL you could manually copy, or created a shortcut you could view, or something like that, then it would be easier for people to figure out how to copy the process.
For instance, they could create a link in a post here like Check out this awesome pic!, and anyone who followed it without paying attention to where it was linking to would end up with a copy of a pattern of the original jokester's choice added to their personal patterns. Or it would be easier for someone to create a bunch of gibberish patterns to flood the system. One can still add a lot of things with the current Anicro Desapro method, but at least they're be limited to one pattern every several seconds.
In the meantime, do you understand how to use the ACS feature of Anicro Desapro? It's certainly one of the least user-friendly parts to figure out. Using that you can save many patterns of your own creation to a small .acs file you keep. In this way you could at least be storing up patterns you'd like to share for easy access whenever you get IE to stop kicking you in the face, or the method of sending to ACC improves.

Unrelatedly, as you all may or may not have figured from kirbyman and Billy_The_Evil_Bunny's posts below, Billy is now hosting the latest (still June 2003) version of Anicro Desapro at Animal Crossing Den, so no need to request it directly from me anymore. The link at my Anicro Desapro Downloads page has been altered accordingly, or if you're really impatient the direct link is here. Thanks Billy!
If i only inderstood that acs LOL it is the least user friendly but that can be fixed if you implement the drag and drop feature. Also I think I have an idea perhaps if you looked at one of my temp solution earlier maybe you could tell it to create a url in the main folder trigger it then immediatly delete it. It would be effective as a temporary patch and its not like you are selling the program anyway so it wont be a problem. Since it is deleted after it is triggered no users could see it and like i said. You arent selling it so it doesnt have to be perfect! Hmm this is difficult though... Is there a way you could make a server to host a temp url created by the program which triggered to the url in the program? The temp url is what would be copied if they copied it and it would only be temporary! Flooding would be impossible but this would take a little while to make. It is kinda of a like a redirection program. It sends you to this url that can only be used once and then deletes itself from the server while sending you to your pattern submission. You could use the textbox with this and it would work well! But... It can be flooded but only by one way which would be difficult. The user would have to setup HIS OWN temp url server and start finding those urls. And if you think about it most pple who try to flood the servers are usually too lazy to make one and keep it up.

The purpose of the top 10 is not to determine who is the best pattern maker, but which are the best patterns to use. The method used to create those patterns shouldn't be an issue. If it's overly complicated to enter then perhaps it shouldn't be one of the highest rated; but because it's not a great pattern, not because it was made with the aid of automation.
I asked someone else to try it. It worked but he wasn't able to send it to ACC, well he did but it wasn't in his pattern section so I can't use it. Link is here.
Signature-------------- And all those other underwater antics!
Hmm. Worked fine for me; I put a few of the results in my patterns here. Doesn't seem like any of the palettes had a proper selection of shades of blue-green to get it looking really nice, though.
