I was relaying pathways this week and found that under the paths I used the least, there was no grass wear. Only on the paths that I use all the time did I see the grass worn away. So this is a good example of what sunmarsh said, I believe.
This is a really good guide Before I started hacking, I read it, and was able to regrow parts of my grass using gold roses.
However, I never noticed that the grass's weakness changed over seasons. My grass has been wearing out lately, and it had been snowing (my date never changes). I always thought that grass that I hacked in was weaker, but maybe it was the season. I time-traveled and now it does appear stronger. At least I think it does; the grass wearing away looks better
For everyone who wants to grow grass back, putting down paths and then throwing flowers (gold roses are best, as your town is huge, and no one wants to spend hours watering) down around them. Fill up spots that are all dirt with flowers. Now, whenever you want to get somewhere, use the path. After a long time, the grass will grow back and you'll have a nice looking path that could look hacked if it's nice.
Thanks for the great guide I have lost a lot of grass and now know that going on more than once in the day was part of my problem. Planting flower paths now and leaving the game on.
Hey everyone!Get the grass pattern from Wendell and spread it all over your town!(except for some spots, you can't expect to get floating gifts, money from trees, mole cricket(for some),or bells from trees, which is a downfall, except you could leave 6 spots for fossils and gyroids,if you're interested.)

Amazing work OP. I can fully confirm that it takes exactly 1 month straight to fully regrow a complete desert area into fully grass covered area, with flowers planted. What wasn't mentioned however, and what I find quite important, is that, in order for flowers to create any effect of regrowing, they need to be planted close together and at least four of them. If you plant for example only one or two flowers, no regrowth will happen in the 1 month period, at all.

You are amazing! This has helped me so much. I have tried planting flowers on every tile affected with "baldness", and I can absolutely vouch that it speeds up regrowth for certain. This is an amazingly well researched info guide you made. I'm amazed that you were so nice as to take the time to type this all out for every day people like me to use. I really appreciate it! It's actually kind of fun regrowing spots with flowers.
P.S. I know I'm about 6 years late, but I just got AC:CF for my WII U because there aren't enough games I like yet. But I love Animal Crossing!
You're very welcome- glad to see this guide continues to help people!
I'd just like to note that some of the information in this guide is incorrect/outdated and information reflecting my most recent research can be found over on Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing Wiki. The information on that page was compiled by me and is much more accurate.

I don't like this feature. Most of my town is now dirt. I still have grass, just not in my whole town. That's what I want, though. I was going to make my own thread asking about grass deterioration, but then I came upon this guide.
