Thanks so much for this guide! It's been extremely helpful I don't have a major problem (mainly because I haven't been on since May ) but still, I can't wait to put this into action in my town! I do have quite a few...unsightly spots

It means that it will no longer be updated. The only version ever posted on this thread can be found at the top of page 1. I updated the guide a while back, and at that point decided I would not update it again, and so that is why it's called "Final Version".

funnykinz1997 - I'll admit that my view of grass wear is probably not 100% correct, and this is because I have no quantitative way of measuring it. I feel that I have done the best qualitative analysis that I could, and the only data I would like to base any further experimentation on is data we don't see. That is, data on grass wear that the game uses to determine how grassy or barren a certain space looks. I believe I mentioned this before somewhere in this thread that using some sort of homebrew it is indeed possible to view this data, but I am not comfortable using homebrew and therefore I will never be able to obtain such numbers, and so I will never be able to update the thread as I would like. Also, while I have been linked to a few other grass threads, the studies done there were 'not up to snuff' in my eyes and I was not convinced to change my guide. So if someone were to come along and provide quantitative data and accompanying visuals to support that data, and this data proved or disproved any of my prior experimentation, I would be more than willing to rewrite my guide, however in the two years that this guide has been up I have yet to receive any such results.

I agree about faster grass growth in spring and summer. I mark all my walkways with stone paths every other square in those seasons, then fill in the spaces in fall and winter - what ever grass is under the stone path when it's laid will still be there when the squares are removed in the spring. At least, that's been my experience. I also plant flowers in an every-other-square pattern where I want grass to grow - then shift the flowers to the right or left every month to fill in.
superzainy2611: Not that I know of, but that's not really my area of expertise so I'm not sure. If that were possible I'd like to think I would have heard it somewhere, but I haven't read that anywhere.

IDK if its just me but in my town I have 2 characters, I have noticed something if I log in as my character and then log out for about 1-2hrs log back in as my gf character the grass does not recede. Did anyone else notice this?
If you walk on it, the grass can indeed suffer another round of wear every time you load the game no matter which character you use. You may not see this if a) the grass isn't showing any signs of wear yet or b) it's summer as the grass wear rate is lower.

I personally like the Animal Tracks feature. It has made me create paths, which I feel has added a unique touch to my town. It adds a new objective to the game and once you have little dirt pathes everywhere, it actually looks really good! And, you cannot complain that you can't walk off the path, because you can! I've done it in the same spot up to 5 times with out any wear appearing.
Have fun making some gorgeous pathes to go around your town, plant flowers, which will also help your environment, and think of it as a challenge and not a chore. There are actaully some people out here who like the Grass Wear.
Also, as a note, I did not know about the Grass Wear when I started, like many others and I ran around my town without a care. It actually wasn't so bad, a couple of flowers and some paths, and my town is not only unique because of the path, but it has a perfect environment because of the flowers and it gives me something to work towards - regrowing my grass!

I had no idea about it until the other day and I realized my town had more dirt than I remembered (I thought maybe I was imagining it though) then I read about th grass wear and it all made sense.
I'm trying t regrow my grass now, and it is a pain, however, I visited someones town the other day, and their town was BEAUTIFUL with perfect dirt paths and flowers along the paths here and there. It looked even nicer than towns where they have path patterns throughout (Like mine).
It's all a matter of being wiling to walk and not run. I've gotten pretty used to it now, only after a few days. I can't wait until my town looks pretty like the one I saw (But I'm no going to time travel to do it!!!)
