Thank you sooooo very much. This gives me hope. My town looks terrible, its 80% brown and its not nice. So I have started the regrowth process thanks to you.
and I'm pumped to hear about seasonal changes for grass wear (maybe this is why nintendo isnt in that big of a hurry to fix it) but now I'm foldin my hands and prayin for rain in spring
Your research is very detailed and accurate. With your guide, my town is starting to look better as the days go on! Pretty soon, I probably won't have the grass wear problem thanks to your helpful guide sunmarsh!

That's an incredible difference in just three months. Less than half the current wear rate, and when you consider that:
1) The time period you researched wasn't at the slowest wear rate; 2) You were running, not walking or jogging.
I hope this means we can run around our towns in June collecting the pricey bugs. There's no real benefit in catching bugs now anyway, except the museum and golden net, so I guess the fast wear rate now isn't that bad.
Great work.

GoNintendo: The grass will stay the same, keeping whatever growth it received from the one day of time travel forward. Yes, if you walk or stand on the flowers, you will wear the grass under them. Do not water flowers unless they are wilted. In addition, you do not need to physically drip water onto the flowers themselves. The regular watering can waters more than just the space that the water drips onto. It waters a total of 5 spaces in the following formation: (the blue X is where the water physically drips)
XX XXX XX
So if you want to water the red flower in the following example watering any of the spaces marked in blue would work to water it.

Nope, and it would be near impossible to test. Well, actually, upon thinking about it, it would be possible. You would need to run down the grass completely in an area, then time travel between the day in December where it is guaranteed to snow and the day before. You would then compare the amount of time it took for the grass to regrow to however long it takes for the same area to completely regrow on another day in December, but not one which is guaranteed precipitation.

I wish I knew about this sooner. I just thought that the snow was melting. It's going to take some time to get most of my snow back.
How about this: I plant some flowers and trees over the areas that were most affected and then put a pattern path along the other areas, so that I can walk back and forth between all the different buildings and the river and ocean. But this way the other areas stay untouched for the most part.
But what exactly happens where the patterns are, if the grass still wears there? Will it eventually disappear completely? Or will it stay because the patterns are on it? And can the grass/snow disappear completely into water? Or does it just turn into sand/dirt?
Thanks for informing us about this problem, but I don't think enough people know about it yet. How many signatures do you need for the petition? Last time I checked it was at only 849 signatures.
Thanks again.

I don't really care if my AC:CF town turns into a desert or dirt land. As long as it doesn't turn into an ocean, I'm fine with it. It would be nice if Nintendo could fix the problem, though.
Thanks for letting me know. And I signed the petition. I am signature #850. I don't know if we'll get anymore signatures, but here's hoping.

Brooke13Silver: You place patterns down to mark out specific paths that you will take throughout town. The grass under these patterns will still wear, but this way you can control where the wear occurs- on a path rather than everywhere.

Certainly helpful, though my town is a bit of a lost cause at this point I hope it will help anyone who still has a decent chance.

These are all really great. But I want to point out to all of you people complaining about the grass...it's ment to be that way...it really is. Nintendo wasn't planning you on getting EVERYTHING in one year. Why else would you play it after a year has gone by? (I would because I love the game) But really, it's a challenge, deal with it. That's what gaming is about. Animal Crossing counts for this too. It's supposed to take you MORE THEN ONE YEAR to collect EVERY BUG, GET the Snowman FURNITURE...ANY FURNITURE...
That's not the point. It is the fact it wears away quicker than it should and the fact that it will instantly wear away just for starting the game more than once a day.
"What does not getting everything within one year have to do with grass dying?"
I really shouldn't have to explain this, but the REASON people are sad about the grass is because they "MISS" out on events.
You don't need grass for a perfect town. I got it with a desert. You need the grass for the SNOW MAN FURNITURE. Soooo if you don't have ENOUGH SNOW to make that furniture...grass grows back in the summer for you to try again to get the snow man furniture/bugs/etc.... That's what it has to do with it...
I agree the grass rate should be up a bit but still...it's a challenge people...
Other than needing snow for snowmen and grass for certain bugs. it's disappointing for aesthetic purposes. People are mostly complaining about it for aesthetic purposes. I feel that very few people really care about the bugs, it's just the beauty of the environment we seem to be concerned about; not the "challenge" it presents.
