That is a very good question, but it would really depend on who I was talking to. I mean, yeah, I'd mention it to family if they asked what I do outside of school and such, but Animal Crossing is a secret of mine; only my family knows that I really play it, so I probably wouldn't tell anyone outside of my family that I work on ACC as a scout or JUG as Promotions Director. It is something I enjoy, but something I would really need to think about before telling someone about.
Signature-------------- Have you played Animal Crossing today?
My family, sure I would mention it to them (they all think I'm crazy anyways ). But most people, no, as it's....for a game, and not real life, so I wouldn't mention it. Like Zach said, it's more of a secret.

Nobody even knows I play Animal Crossing except for my family members and one of my friends (who I don't really talk to much, haha). As for ACC, only my sister knows that I go on this site frequently. She knows I'm a "Scout," although she has no clue what a scout is.
But no, ACC is my secret. Personally I'd be embarassed to tell people openly that I go on an Animal Crossing website and I'm a staff member there. I'm not going to lie.
Looks like I'm not alone though, it's a secret for Laura and Zach too!

I have to agree; it all depends on to whom I'm talking! Last week's holidays showed me that, sometimes, not even my family accepts my AC obsession. There's a few old friends who would understand what I'm doing but most people I know wouldn't have any clue what a "moderator" is, let alone believe I spend my time here! I would however, find another way to phrase it so it sounds more important than it is!

It seems as though nobody's that willing to own up site...
I would keep it a secret, too. My family members know I'm on here, but we have an unspoken agreement that we don't talk to each other about it. I think one of my friends saw me on here once, but doesn't really care all that much. Other than that, though, I kind of keep it a secret. I definitely wouldn't tell them that my staff position on a website was a responsibility.

My husband and my best friend have known about me being a Mod from the beginning. They've both been very supportive, even when I felt kind of shy about mentioning it to anyone. My friend doesn't fully understand what its about but she thinks its interesting. My husband's a big techy so he knows how important it is to have volunteers on the internet helping to keep things reasonable and readable for everyone, especially where there are lots of kids. He even sort of jokes about it like its my "job".
I've mentioned it to my sister, who doesn't think its weird, and just at Christmas I was explaining how the whole moderator thing works to my husband's aunt, who was very interested, especially since she has a 13 year old son. She seemed to be really glad to know there are people out there helping to keep an eye on everything online.
I have alot of techy friends, so with them I just say that I'm a moderator on a pretty big fan site for a video game that I like to play. Everyone gets it and I don't bother going into details unless someone is particularly interested in the subject.
But I do have a couple of friends who don't even approve of playing video games, so I don't generally discuss any of my video game (or related) hobbies with those folks, as it would only lead to an argument.

Like previously said, it depends on who I'm talking to. I've been keeping it a secret for three years now. The only people who know about it are my family and my best friend, who was a member on here for a week.
However, I did tell most of the people on colorguard that I'm a staff member on a video game fansite, but they didn't ask any details about it, so I didn't explain further.

I've mentioned it to my family on occasion, but they all seem to always say "Who cares? It's not important" (their general opinion on video games also).
I don't often get in a position where it's worth mentioning, but I wouldn't be afraid to.
Signature-------------- Putting stuff off takes skill. I could put the "Pro" in "Procrastinate!" But I'll do that later...
Nah, ACC is kinda like a secret. When I joined in 2006, some of my friends new and I had gotten a couple of them to join, but now. Nope. I think only my brother knows

I'll own up and say that I've mentioned that I work on a website as a moderator. No shame in my game
My family knows that I'm a moderator, though my mom and nana don't quite understand what that is. They know it is a site that has to do with Animal Crossing, which they know is a game I play and seen me play (they like the clip-clop of the people's feet as they walk ). My sisters and a couple of friends know I put in my time on this site.
I do agree that it is easier to mention that I am a website moderator to those that know about the internet and are a bit more technologically aware. But I don't know if I'd purposefully hide that I have responsibilities on ACC.

Like many others, my friends are clueless to animal crossing.
I've never mentioned the game, or the site to anyone at school before. I wish I could, but it's sad how this amazing game is looked down on when it's actually a lot of fun. (To be honest, Before I got (found) wild world I remember thinking "That game looks stupid" when I saw the wild world commercials w/ the neighbors with animal heads)
And really, I never would have gotten the game if I didn't find it lying on a sidewalk. (Yes, I found the game on the ground). I looked at it and thought it sounded familar, popped it into my DS at home, and that's how it all started. The thing is, I bet that there are people at my school playing the game, I know it. They just don't TALK about it, like I don't.
Take in example pokemon; I can name 5 dozen kids who play it, and half of them make fun of it at the same time. I bet there's so much more who play it too, haha. (I would still be playing if I didn't loose my pearl game)
I've only mentioned it to a couple of close friends, & my kids have watched me at times. They think it's kinda cool, but beyond them, nobody else knows. It's not that I'm embarassed to put in time as a staff member on a game fansite, it's more like the people I know aren't into the same things I am. They don't understand why I continue playing video games as an adult, & they tend to look down on it.

It all depends, If I was just a Scout of Mod I would probably not really give it a second thought and just leave it quiet. I have mentioned it to a few friends, but none really delved into what it was. Being a Site Manager though, I honestly think that if I was in a job interview or a review at my current job, and the question came up, I would definitely mention my role here. It's really something that I would not have seen me doing, but I think would show that I have some leader capabilities.

Like many other staff have said previously, it depends who asked me that question. My immediate family know I am a member of an animal crossing website, so if they asked I would say yes.
If it was a friend asking I probably would tell them, but without mentioning ACC. I'm currently a Young Leader at a UK Girl Guides group, so I would just mention that I was also a Scout. It's not lying; just suggesting something else....

My dad and one of my best friends are the only people who know... I don't go out of my to say it or boast about it, but if the subject ever comes up I might mention it. Most of my friends and peers don't even know what AC or ACC are.
