Hello ACC, this is Tristan10 and here is a guide to shoe colors! I am still working on this.
How do I change my shoe color To change your shoe color, you need to have finished Tom Nook's work. Then you need to go to the City by riding the bus. Press "A" while facing the sign on the platform to get a ride.
When you are in the city, walk to the right and north and you will see a Skunk sitting on some steps infront of an abandoned building. His name is Kicks. You can talk to Kicks and get your shoes shined by Color and Style. I will talk about these later. Remember, shoe shining costs 500 bells, so bring some cash!
By Style If you select "By Style" your shoe color will change depending on the clothing you are wearing.
Today I was wearing the Hero's Outfit. Since "By Style" gets you a color depending on your shirt, I got green shoes.
Red Shirt = Red Shoes Blue Shirt = Blue Shoes Yellow Shirt = Yellow Shoes Green Shirt = Green Shoes White Shirt = White Shoes Black Shirt = Black Shoes Brown Shirt = Brown Shoes Orange Shirt = Orange/Redish Shoes
By Color If you choose by color, your hair color will depend on the color of shoe you get. NOTE: If you are wearing a hat, the color of your hat will determine your shoe color.
IE: I have Blonde Hair, so when I chose "By Color" when talking to Kicks, I would get Yellow Shoes.
The same colors apply with "By Style".
Special Shoe Colors Now I am not 100% sure on this, but I have a theory.
If you are wearing a multi-colored shirt or preferably something from GracieGrace, when you select "By Style" or "By Color" you will get a combination of blue and red or something with your shoe color.

When I was playing yesterday, I was wearing a predominately orange shirt and I had orange hair. Regardless if I selected by color or style, my shoes were blue (which they were to begin with).

I chose by colour yesterday when I had red hair, I had nothing in it, but he changed my shoes to blue. Also, my uncle chose by style when he had an Orange shirt on, but his shoes changed to black.

I was wearing a leopard shirt and brown glasses. I have brown hair. The shoe color I got was green. I selected by style. That doesn't make sense to me that I would get green shoes.
Signature-------------- Don't FCR unless you PT me. Its annoying. I won't accept you.
The shoe color/style I've got never went by this guide. I had on beret, brown herringbone shirt, brown glasses by Gracie and I got purple flats. When I had on all purple, I got black & white shoes. But when I had on mismatched items, I got brown espridrills.

No offence, but this is pretty wrong. I've got my shoes shined everyday since I got the game. I wear multiple shirt colors everyday. Two days ago, I was wearing a blue shirt. Got my shoes shined, and they were black. Yesterday. I was wearing a black shirt. My shoes were blue. Today, I was wearing a black and white pattern I made. I got the same black shoes as two days before.
Not saying this guide is not false or anything, but I think it does deeper down than just a simple shirt color.

Yeah the color you get seems pretty random. Of course it's not, but I think it will take a heck of a lot of research and a long time before we can get a completely accurate guide.
There are so many variables--hair color, hat color, shirt color, and do accessories play any role? For now I'm just going to experiment until I get a color I like.

Oh my gosh.... I keep trying to tell you guys, that if you choose style, it changes your shoes back to default. I have tested it.

I have the same hair color (red) the same yellow bow in my hair, the same glasses, and no matter what shirt I wear (Gracie, Self-made, or other) if I pick by style i ALWAYS end up with the red shoes i started with.

Kicks' Place ==================
Location: East (map location KX) Purpose: Changing the appearance of your shoes Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Price: 500
Kicks is a skunk that sits on the stoop of a boarded-up building, shining shoes for five hundred Bells.
You havethe option to match the shoes to your outfit by color, or by style.
When matching by color, Kicks will style your shoes according to the color most prevalent in your outfit. If you have a blue shirt with green sleeves, green glasses, and brown hair, Kicks will make your shoes blue. However, if your hair had been green, of if you had been wearing a green hat, that would tip the scales in favor of green shoes.
When matching by style, Kicks will use either use the pattern of your shirt, or the color ratio of your outfit. For example, if you're wearing vertical stripes, Kicks will give your shoes vertical stripes. If your shirt has no discernable pattery, he will try to match the color ratio; that is to say, if your outfit if exactly half black and half white, he will choose a style that is exactly half and half, in colors of his choosing. If either color makes up more than half of your outfit, Kicks will mirror this in your shoes, making them a solid body color with straps or laces of a different color. If you are wearing a full set of clothes, such as Wrestler, Kicks will choose a preset style to match it.
If you are wearing the same outfit as the last time you had your shoes shined, and choose the same option, Kicks will buff your shoes without changing how they look, and won't charge you for it.

This still makes no sense. I had on Beret (brown), glasses from Gracie (brown), blonde hair, brown herringbone shirt (brown) and I asked for style (I wanted brown shoes) and I got purple flats w/black footless tights.

I went to him with red-riding hood shirt (white w/red), star cap (pink w/ blue), and Gracie glasses (brown). I choose color and got brown esspidrilles w/white socks. Then I went home and put on the brown outfit that I described earlier and looked Great!!
