I saw 2 threads on the Newbie thread that was like"Welcome to acc!" and they were both locked. I don't know why this is happening. Can't you guys let people help other noobs?
The one I saw just said "ask me anything", and was locked under topics not allowed, as it is a general help thread. I can assume the other suffered that fate.

How on earth are you suppose to overuse a markup? I'm curious because I saw that rule, and thought it was pretty pointless..."
It's somewhere along the line splitting a headache and a migraine. Sometimes people like to overdo mark-up, like really overdo it.

It's like Nintendude64 said, WarJunkie. Markup was provided with the intention of highlighting a portion of a post and not to create an entire post in color. When someone uses mark up throughout their entire post it can be considered overuse of mark up. This includes the features that bold as well as italicize your words.

"2.7 Drawing Excessive and Unnecessary Attention - 6/8/2007 Do not post messages intended to draw excessive and unnecessary attention. This includes "goodbye" and "delete my account" threads, and threads with misleading topics. If you are leaving the site permanently, send a PT only to those members you associate with on a regular basis (in other words, no mass PTs). If you want to have your account deleted, submit a request to the staff using the "Report a Problem" button from your profile -- however, realize that once your account is deleted, you cannot return, and another account cannot be created. I was pointing to the "creating topic titles using multiple special characters/punctuation".
I have a question. In multiple special characters/punctuation, how many should be allowed, and how many should be violations?
I just want to know, because I've noticed that they have been taken away in many titles.

I had mentioned it elsewhere on the site today that, in my opinion, the use of a single key board character would, more than likely, not create a problem for the thread creator. Something like this:
Bob's Message: Book One * Meet Bob *
Would probably be okay and not cause heartache. But when you clutter the title with keyboard art and unnecessary characters, that causes a major distraction. Like walking said, no extra characters is the best and safest bet.

The staff did something about the "use of special characters" in giveaway titles.
I'm guessing they will update the Stories/Fan Fiction Board Rules thread for the Stories/Fan Fiction Board too regarding the use of special characters.

The fanfic board was not a reported problem. The issue we dealt with was with the Giveaways and Service Clubs boards specifically. Technically the site rule is still the same no matter what board. We posted a reminder on those boards to go along with the bumping issue.
From the looks of the Fanfic board, there's a problem there as well.

There is definitely a "situation" with that board in relation to the abuse of characters, yes. Some hope that the Staff will include a similar position on that board and post a reminder to the members that multi-key board characters (in the thread titles) are a no-no.

If your service is a Giveaway/Contest Service, you are allowed one advertising thread on either the Giveaway/Contest board, or the Service Club Board. You cannot create an advertisement thread on each board. However, you are still allowed the second staff recruit thread on the Service Club board.
You can have a recruitment thread on each board but advertise on only one.

Are you talking about threads like that on the public boards? I would think that should fall under the clubs ruling.
