There are several topics posted with questions regarding markup, and I decided to post a guide for it. I'm not talking about the basic information from (?) Using Markup, but a very in depth guide for everything relating to markup. I believe this is the right place for this, if not please move it. This guide is very long, so long that I need to post it in fragments. Please hold all comments until I have posted all sections of the guide! Table of Contents:

Markup is a code that changes the appearance of your text, or can give it new attributes. You can find the most basic of information at (?) Using Markup under the emotes, but that just scratches the tip of the iceberg. With Markup, anything is possible.
b) Basic Information
Essentially, Markup is done by entering various codes inside “[]“ brackets. You enter the markup you want in the brackets preceding your text, and reenter the code with a “/” before it. So usually a markup code would look like
text
. However, when previewing or posting your message, the text between the codes will have changed, while the code itself will not appear. Only the text surrounded by the markup codes should be affected. If something came out wrong, make sure you entered everything correctly. You can use as many kinds of Markup as you want on even the same text, or different markups within different parts of the same word!

Colors are one of the most popular markup codes, and also the most variant. To use a color code, enter text. After the equal sign, enter a color that you want the text to be. This is what the text will look like. Use Color to lighten up your text, or give it emphasis. Note that the other spelling, colour, works as well. Also, you only need to enter the actually color and equal sign in the code preceding the text, not the one afterwards, in which you only enter .
b)Color List
The is a very expansive list of colors that can be input into the code. Some are very similar, and some are hard to see, but it is a great list nonetheless. Note that these do not include the odd occurrences of codes mentioned in section d. I believe the credit of this list goes to weeun, so thank her for it! To see a fully colored list, type weeun in the username lookup. The list is here:
http://www.tektek.org/color/ is a great place to add radiance to your posts. There you can select two colors from the entire spectrum, and type in text which will have a gradient color that will fuse the two colors into a blended one. You can make this random, or can select rainbow to post with a rainbow gradient. After you type in what you want your post to be, click the Generate Code button. Copy and paste the code displayed into your post on ACC, and the code will automatically translate into the text you typed with the gradient colors you selected. You can do this, or maybe something along the lines of this. Tektek generates a long code, so these colors should be used sparingly. Please note that you do not need to post any other text, just copy and paste the code.
d)Mysteries of the Color System
This markup seems quite straightforward, but some odd codes register as odd colors. Color=violet appears as pink, while color=purple is purple. Color=sapphire (spelled right) is purple, while color= saphire (spelled wrong) is sapphire. Codes like color=darkdarkblue, lightred, darklightgreen, etc. can be random colors completely unrelated. When typing in codes such as color=rainbow or color=clear, the color will register as pea green and greenish yellow, respectively. Oddest of all, random text beginning with “f” can register as a color relating to red, such as red, magenta, or orange. For example, color=fksh registers as this, and color=fjajaja is this. Try any of these out, they really work! There are several unsolved occurrences in the system, so please let me know if you find anything interesting!

These are three markups that can be found in other places such as Microsoft Word. Their codes are rather simple, a “b”, “u”, or “i” inside the “[]” brackets. Bold will be used the most, and should be used when you want people to notice that particular text, or for adding emphasis to posts. Bold [ b ] will look like this. Underlining should be used for titles, or for emphasis. Underline [ u ] will look like this. Italics can be used for irony or clarification, or for emphasis. Italics [ i ] will look this. You’ll see these three often.
b)Spoiler
Spoiler is a markup that isn’t used all that often, and is in a way like another color. The code is “spoiler” inside “[]” brackets. As the name implies, spoiler markup is used to hide text, so that members who do not want to view the text do not need to. Spoiler changes the color of the text to the color of the forum background so that the only way to see what the text says is to highlight the text by dragging your cursor over it. Highlight the blank area to reveal a secret message: This guide took a very long time to type!. Note that spoiler markup will not work in profiles, as the background is a different color. It is hard to read, but still visible.
c)Blockquote
This is where (?) Using Markup insults me. For using blockquotes, it stated the code for it was [ blockquote ]text[ /blockquote ]. This works fine, but there is a much shorter code it was hiding from me! Blockquotes indent, italicize, and quote the text in it. This markup can be used to quote other members by taking their text via copy and paste. The shorter code I mentioned was “bq” in “[]” brackets, a measly two letters! This code is used a lot, so I would certainly recommend using the shorter code. Blockquotes will look like:
"this"
d)Horizontal Rule
This is a rather unique markup in it requires only the first part of the code. Horizontal Rule adds a horizontal line to the space above it, and should be used to divide text in a post. The code for it is “hr” in “[]” brackets, but keep in mind that the second part is unnecessary. A horizontal rule looks like this: Not much else can be said about this kind of markup.
e)Hyperlink
This markup is used quite often, and is quite useful. The text will turn a cerulean blue color, and will underline if the cursor is moved over it. If the text is clicked, you will load onto a webpage. This can be used to trace back to threads, give links to patterns, or just about anything else! The code is like the color markup, [ link= ]text[ /link ]. After the equal sign, copy and paste the http address of the webpage you want the text to link to. The result is this. You will use this often, as it is so useful.

Emotes are the faces expressing emotion in the box right of your text in a post. They are rather unique markup, as they require simple codes that are entered simply by clicking on one of the emotes. There are a total of 36; 18 emotes, with a femote (female emote) counterpart for each. Emotes should be used when you want to show emotion through text, and should often be added to the end of sentences or posts. Note that most markup will not effect emotes, but hyperlinks work by placing a linked blue box around the emote. Also note that you can only have 10 emotes per post. These are some emotes:
b)Emote Issues
There are some issues with emotes that can be irksome at times. The top of the (f)emote extends pass the context of the line, creating a small space above the text. Overall, this isn’t really an issue, but using an emote mid-post will make your text look uneven if you don’t use an emote on every line. Also, as you can manually type the emote code, some accidental placement can result in wrong emotes and changed text. For example, using face_happy at inside a code such as hyperlink will result in a face_devil with a broken code before it. In addition, placing a face_blank at the end of a question will result in a face_confused with no punctuation. Spacing emotes apart and previewing posts is the best way to work out these issues, and more.

Donations aren’t a part of markup, but they do affect it. When you donate $5 or more to ACC, you can now use markup in signatures. Previously, you can only use normal text within it. Also, by donating $10 or more, your signature capacity will increase. Then, by donating $20 or more, you can have even greater capacity for both signatures and the “All About Me” Section of your profile. While you might think that this would not affect markup, it does. As some markup requires extra room, a higher character cap will allow you to use more markup. Donate some time, it’s really worth it!
b)Overuse of Markup
2.10-Forum Rules-Overuse of Markup. This is a violation you might receive for being a little too enthusiastic with markup. I know that after reading my guide you will want to use markup for every letter, but please don’t. It is not only annoying and wasteful, but it is painful for those with sensitive eyesight. Markup was meant to be used sparingly, to give emphasis. If you emphasize all your text, the only thing you are emphasizing is how obnoxious you are. Is that the kind of emphasis you want?
c)Advanced Tips
Markup is important in emphasizing posts, and that can make a massive difference. Make sure that you use markup with skill. You can use colors in combination with emotes to show great emotion. Bold anything that you want people to read the most, to make sure that you make a point. Place emotes and emphasis just where they are needed, and nowhere else. Make sure to space the codes right, and always preview your posts. Remember these things, and you will become a Markup Master!

As you might be able to tell, this guide took a long time to make, and I hope you appreciate it! They guide uses a lot of text, if I posted it in one post the character count would be 13215, significantly larger than the amount of a post, or even the amount you can post in the “All About Me” section of a profile!(Note that this does not include the introduction and this section here.) I’m personal hoping this will one day be stickied, but that may just be wishful thinking. I hope you appreciate it!
You can post now.

*Ahem* Ther's already a mark-up guide. But since that's having some...Er...Technical issues *Looks at virus* this is a good guide. I'll try and get a mod to shhhtickify this.

It should also be noted that entering a long string of numbers will result in a color. Color=478278 is this, color=729936 is this. In addition, the "f" codes only work if they are at least 4 letters. Some of these "f" codes will result in another color, color= fffffffffffffffffffffffffffff is this. will post new breakthroughs as I find them. And I changed the title to make it sound more exciting.

This guide is alot more indepth than the using markup we already have, and i think that the users would benefit from having this one instead of or as well as the one with have at this present time

Les- What are username colors? I would very much like to know more!
Susty-Thank you for that code! I was sure there was one but I did not know what it was!
ClosetCloe -Thank you fro the praise! I just found the (?) Using Markup help much too basic, and I wanted to answer all those questions on this board about markup. So I spent long hours typing this guide, as sort of an advanced guidebook, while (?) Using Markup is merely a pamphlet. As much as I would be overjoyed o have this guide replace (?) Using Markup, that will never happen. The best I can hope for is that this will one day be stickied, but I only have a slim chance that this will have the staff's attention.
