First thing....

Please do not panic. Just update and run your virus scanner. If you don't have one you can download and install the free AVG one that I posted on the announcement.

From what I've read it exploits a vulnerability in IE's Active X files to download the virus. Those not using a Windows computer with IE should be fine but I still recommend running s scan.

As long as you're running an antivirus, and are not clicking the infected help files, you should be fine.

I'd run a virus scan just to be safe, but if you weren't using Internet Explorer, I think you're fine.

I got infected from clicking the ACC FAQ. AVG took care of it, but it wasn't too easy.

I'm just wondering...

What does the Virus exactly do? (my computer won't blow up, will it?!)

How long have this virus been around? Has it been on ACC for a while and you just noticed it, or did it just appear recently?

How long does it take to completely remove the virus from ACC?

During which time (ACC time) did the virus effect ACC? (And if I wasn't on during this time, would I be fine?)

Are you taking precautions to prevent this from happening again?

If I didn't use IE, should I still scan anyway?

Would/Should I be worried about my Wii if I used it to access ACC? (and I can't scan for viruses either on it)

Does it seem like the year of bad happenings or has there been worse years?

Ok I wasnt on till like 4:00pm ACC time today and i use Internet Explorer do you think i would be infected? I was already infected by a virus a couple weeks ago and had to get my PC's Crashed? Im goona run a virus scan anyways but id just like to know!

Thats bad!
Is it specific IE browsers? as in is it IE6 or 7which it affects the most?
I do come on here a lot on IE, but occasionally Firefox.

Either way, I am using McAfee and I haven't experienced any troubles, going to do a full scan anyway.

Kk321321321 - Since the Wii uses an Opera-based browser, your console is not at risk.

I'm surprised, though. How did the virus end up on the server in the first place? A serious glitch or another hack-attack?
