It won't drastically stop the spamming, but at least it keeps ppl from posting 20 times in 1 second. A good portion of spam results to multiple posted posts/threads per second.

No, it won't stop spam, but it will stop spamfloods, at least, from all directions.

Still it really does nothing, the person can still spam 100 posts in 500 seconds. So what's the difference?

Flood Control is the best spam controlling system out there.

The difference would mean nothing on any other site, but we should begin to understand simply what an ANOMALY our site is. We are pretty much the only forum site on the Internet where the average user not only accepts, but welcomes and strives to improve a strict but fair set of rules. We're like the neighborhood where all the neighbors care about each other (except for Mr. Nooby-Spamzalot and his wife Trolly that never show up at the potlucks and fight all the time.) And so, when we see spammers, most of us just report it and the problem's solved! And so, extending the time it takes to spam means we have more time to catch the problem before it inflates.

It gives people five seconds to report someone before they post the next post. All I know, is soon, this will get out of control!

Post spamming gets caught quicker though, since it usually takes place on stickies.

Most important is the limit on THREAD spamming, which is happening more often than usual lately and now will be almost impossible, as after two or three minutes somebody will spot the beginnings of the attack and report it, before the spammer can even get 5 or more threads up.

This keeps people from spamflooding in the first place. There's no point if a person has to individually post, submit, repeat to make a bunch of messages. It's the extent this site can realistically go to to stop spamming. And posting once a month is extereme, and has no correlation with this at all.

There is no possible way this will get out of hand. If you have to wait 60 seconds to post a new thread, then sapmmers will not bother with us. Period. They are not going to wait 25 minutes to fill one page. By then, they will be permabanned.

Each page on a board is 75 threads. So it'd take an hour and 15 minutes just to fill one page.

Rather than just 15 seconds.

Even so, 5 people can only make 5 threads a minute. It would still take 15 minutes to fill a page. Most spam attacks are taken care of in this time.

This is indeed great thing, ACC does really need some kind of flood control. I'd say there shouldn't be such thing as newbie restrictions but hey, at least they have Private threads..I think.
