newbies dont spam spammers spam

and theoratically, some newbies spam to try to show off, i know i was onmce a newbie as once like evry one else

I have to say, I don't post that much. I really couldn't notice the differenece [sp].

I would say 10-15 secs. Min.

I usually report things that look like they took a couple of seconds to whip up.

60 Seconds actully is great, because it gives the user time to think up a sesnsible topic. And possibly a sesnsible post. =)

And, it takes more than 5 seconds to load a page, so I say 5 seconds isn't enough.

I dont like it but i agree if you have to have it then make it longer my computer takes at least 8 seconds to load

Why is it terrible? I HIGHLY doubt you would post a thread every minute. And I know your computer takews more than 5 seconds to load a page.

Audria, I somehow think that you and every other member that is complaining about flood control would be even more annoyed if they're was 3 pages of spam in every board you look at to post in. Flood control is needed.

I do agree with you on the New Member Restrictions though. I introduced my cousin to the ACC community in recently, a few months, idr. She was really annoyed at the newbie restrictions. I sat next to her and had to hear her complain on how boring it was and she kept on asking me to go on my account.

But, she was lucky, she was allowed to post in PTs that I invited her to. She talked with my buddies till the restrictions were off. Newbies who dont know anyone on a site, and arent even allowed to truly introduce themselves for 1-2 weeks on a public thread or whatever probably dont want to stay. They'll forget the site before actually becoming part of our community. I guarentee you that if you were to research on how many newbies (not including accounts that were firmly spam based) joined each month before and after the restrictions, it probably dropped quite a bit. ACC is a place where you share your interests with other members, and when your stuck on a pattern maker for a week or so, you wont want to come back. I definitely wouldnt have. I usually forget most sites even if your allowed full capibilities.

If you think about It, It's really not that bad.
People who just make repeated threads can actually be stopped.
Unless you want to make a ton of threads at once, Or post more that once
in 5 seconds, this rule shouldn't effect you much.
I mean Spam attacks are pretty annoying. With all the meaning-less posts
and offensive content every once and a while. It's hurtful to others.
I think It's nice actually.

The flood control is a brilliant feature. I've seen this work before on other forums and when I used to run my own. The time limits sound great. I applaud the staff team on this one.

This is a long awaited, and much needed feature. To those who doubt it, it may take a while to load a page but if you click more than once on the submit button it will post multiple replies. Thanks for implementing this ACC staff!

You don't have 'rights' on ACC. Being a member here is not a freedom or a right, it is a privilege.

I like the flood control idea and I know it will never affect me as I have no need to make that many posts/threads. The only way it affects me is with less clutter on the boards.

Highguy is right, you have no rights on ACC.

But I am eternalt greatful for this. The spamm will go down 99.9%, and if there is an attack it will be lame.

Highguy probably summed it up for everyone. There's no need to post more than that in the allotted time. The only way I see it being a problem is if someone uses ACC in more than one browser tab and the flood control carried over. But I still don't see having to wait five seconds or sixty seconds as a problem.

We'll especially need a little protection since we're on Encyclopedia Dramatica now. I can't link to the site because it's full of inappropriate things, but it basically is a hotspot for a lot of Internet hackers and basement dwellers.

I spilled Ramen Noodles all over my keyboard when I saw this topic of mine had been stickied. Holy crud!

I think it's great that this is being implemented at least for awhile, to see how it rolls. Than you staff, I can't thank you enough for making the Flood Control happen.
