I would also like to say if you get knocked out by a scorpian or tarantula, they don't leave, and they're still in your town.
P.S. Tarantulas can escape by jumping in the water.

I don't know y the coalacath witch is pernonce (sealacanth) is so hard 2 catch I caught it the 1st day I ever played but I do think scropions and turanchulas r very hard 2 make show up i once speant 3 hours looking 4 em' but never found em' and the guid didn't help a bit cause I need them 2 show up a little more often I wish this guid said that so It didn't do anything 4 me...

I remember how long it took me to catch those bugs in my first town

got bit many times cuz i would just be runnign aroundwith my net..and unless i sawthem first I would run on top of them and get bit

and then there was the funnyest thing ever wen I waswearing a net and talking to lucky and a scorpian walked up to me

Lucky gave me his picture andi was happy..but wen I ended the conversation I got stung

but one thing to mention is that with the scorpian...If you mis it on the swing you havea chance of getting away from it by runing

with the tarantula your net will stay on the ground and the bug will like do a quik jump behind you and bite you..so you have only one chance at a swing

speaking of rare fish, I caught a shark, and a hammer head in less than one hour while looking for a cealocanth, im still hoppen for one, im a master fisher and have caught many rare fish on inpulse, I dont see the bobber jump but I click the button and the bobber jumps! I got a marlin and tuna that way

Firstly, thank you for the detailed guide, it was very helpful. I've now caught a Tarantula, and at lest I have a better idea of what to look out for to catch the Coelacanth.

Just wondering if you were able to help on a few other things i'm trying to catch? I'm sure others would appreciate any extra help you can give us

Fish that are still eluding me;
Blue Marlin (Ocean, apparently 9pm-4am). Any idea what size it is? That would be really helpful.
Gar (i've read that it can be found in the ponds, 9pm-4am, but all I ever seem to catch now are the Crawfish and Killifish)
Giant Snakehead (also in the ponds apparently, but during the day 9am-4pm. Again, all i ever seem to catch are the same two as above).

Giant Beetle
Grasshopper

Silvercrest, scorpians and turantulas dont come on wi-fi, the only thing that keeps them from coming (they will come in rain)

Some answers for the last few posts to clear things up...

Mamamario & Mytho - Silvercrest was the persons name who asked a question about tarantulas and scorpions. Silvercrest is not something you can catch in AC.

Tfinn04 - Wishy is the shooting star. If you see a shooting star in the night sky, you have to press A when you have no tools equipped, and your characters will make a wish. You have to be quite quick to press A as the star shoots over only for a couple of seconds. If you do it, your character will say they made a wish, and you will soon receive a letter from Wishy the star with a gift.

Melliechicken - The guide is on the first page of this thread. It's not a guide you download, it's just Smizzle's first post explaining some very good tips on how\where\when to catch things.

i got a question on this. here it is; do you have to leave your DS flap on, or can you just leave it in sleep mode. because a few days ago, my brother left his DS closed and when he opened it, there was a scorpian. he equiped his net and got up behind it and caught it. does this mean you have to leave your DS open to be sure to catch one?

It doesn't matter. But if you close your lid, you won't be able to know when there is one there...
