In short, the Trading Board is for you to start trades, by posting about particular items you're looking for or looking to trade to other people. Please follow these rules when posting on the Trading Board. If you break any of these rules, your post will be locked or deleted and users that are found repeatedly breaking these rules will be banned.
1) Don't post your entire catalog. Please just post one or a few items you're looking for, or looking to trade to other people. Later, we will probably implement links w/ your trading board posts for people to get to your lists quickly.
2) Take trades to the Trading Post. Once you have decided who you want to trade with, create a trade with the person on the Trading Post. Discuss any info with the other person there, not on the Trading Board. This means a) don't post codes on the trading board, and b) don't give other users your email for trading.
3) Don't post codes. As with #2, take your trades to the Trading Post, including the codes. Any threads, public or private, with codes posted will be deleted.
4) Don't post Universal Codes. We don't allow Universal Codes anywhere on ACC. You cannot post these in Public or Private Threads, nor can you use these in the Trading Post. Any Uni Codes found (or reported) will be deleted.
5) Don't gripe about (or promote) other users. The Feedback system was designed for holding other users accountable to trades.
You may also post any questions and suggestions you have about the Trading Board here. We will try and answer posts by editing each post and posting responses below the post.
Animal Crossing: The other oxygen.
I'm new to AC so this may be a rather odd question about codes. If I have an item that someone wants to trade for and I set up the Name and Town and the Hear Code thingy at Nook's...You're saying the code I get back will be like a UC which will work on someone elses system? I would have thought there would need to be an exchange of memory cards or something...
Answer: Well, every combination of Name/Town/Item has a unique code. There's some algorhythm that uses your Name and Town and combines those w/ the Item to make a unique code. For example, my town is Tinytown and my name is Jader. If someone sends me the code for a Flame Shirt, it will only work for my Town name and Character name. So, if somebody else has the same town name and character name as I have, the same code will also give them a Flame Shirt. And it doesn't matter who gives you the code -- the code will always be the same for the Name and Town that item is going to. Hope that answers your question. You may get a clearer (better) answer on the AC Game Board.
Is there such things as universal codes and where can I find them because I have surfed the web all around and no universal codes showed up. So whats up is there any place that has UCs?
Answer: There are universal codes all over the web -- but we do not allow UCs posted on ACC. These codes are just quirks in AC, and were not intentional by the developers. They are considered cheating, and some are even harmful to your game.
I think that there should be a way for you to mark what e-cards that you have doubles of. Right now the way I do it is I only put the cards that I am willing to trade in my inventory. It kind of gets confusing sometimes.
Answer: This has been suggested before. The only problem with this is that it would be a major pain to do on my end. I know it seems like a simple enough thing to do. But the trading post and catalog system is so complex, that the smallest change is a pain to do. But we may try and do this someday.
In the meantime, you may want to just add to your inventory the cards you have doubles of. This way, only the cards that you are willing to trade off will show up to the other users. Many users do this for their e-cards.
I personally think that the board should be divided into seperate groups. Furniture, clothing, wallpaper/carpet, and random things like items, stationery and fruit. This would make the forums a lot more organized, and people wouldn't be tempted to keep bumping their topics to the first page.
Answer: This has been suggested before. We may do this in the future, because this would work for dividing the other boards into sub-topics. This would probably be a major undertaking though, so we would probably put other things above this.

When you trade does it e-mail that person? Or can I do it by Private threads?
What if we don't have enough time to do all of that trading post stuff? Are you sure we can't put the codes in the post we offered them in to speed things up? I really hope so, because I'm doing an offer that way right now. If it's not allowed, I'm sorry, but I am in a big hurry.
Answer: You cannot use any part of the site to exchange codes, except for the Trading Post. Really, I'm not sure why you think it's faster to type the codes in a post -- it's just as easy to use the "Set Secret Code" link to enter your codes. Plus, you'll be protected by the system -- you can leave negative feedback if you get scammed. We've had a few people post their codes either on the Trade messages, or in a Private Thread, and they got scammed. There was nothing we could do about it.
Just use the Trading Post -- it's not that hard, it doesn't take that much more time (if any), and it protects you from being scammed. Plus, the trade gets saved in your record for future reference, and you both get feedback from it.

I think the whole system works just fine for me... besides the fact that if someone starts a trade and doesn't add an item that I will get in exgange I have no idea how to add the item that I want... did that make sense?
Answer: I think the problem is that the other user is putting in "his half" of the trade, and instead of clicking "Request Counter-Offer" at the end, they're clicking confirm trade. But either way, if you get an offer that you want to modify before accepting, simply click "Counter Offer" instead of "Accept" on the trade status page, and you can modify the trade and send it back to the other user for acceptance.
Hope that answers your question. I think there is more detailed info in the Help section (the "?" icon at the top of the site).
Llama is spelled wierdly... -Pointless information of the moment
If anyone knows how the whole trading procedure goes, I need to know. My friend and I are new, and she traded with someone, but she doesn't know if she did it right or not. So please tell me if you have any advice, or strategy.
I understand the problem with the "universal" codes that were "glitches" in the game, but what about the Nintendo Power codes? Are they available on this site? or Would it be considered inappropriate to request them from someone here? I have gotten most of them from my N.P. subscription or the official web site, but I know that there are a few I've missed, and would like to get those items.

You will never live long enough, to make them all yourself.
I am trying to counter-offer a trade offered to me.
So I click on "Counter-offer" and I click the small square check box next to each item I want to offer to the user out of the entire list of "selected items."
So I then click "Offer Trade." I get a screen that says "You are about to make the following trade." However, all the Selected Items appear here, even those I did not place a check mark next to. Why?
Answer: Actually, those checkboxes by the items in your "Selected Items" list are so you can removed items. In order to leave those items selected, do nothing. Just confirm the trade, and they'll be carried over to the next page. If you want to remove items though, check the boxes next to the items you want to remove, and click "Remove Items".

I think when you're viewing someone's wish list, it should only show the items on their wish list, not all the items in your inventory. It would make it much faster and easier to see what they want.
Answer: Well, we want people to be able to give other users items that they may not have in their wish list. Some people don't set up any items in their wish list, so this is the only way you could give them items. But we are going to be adding a read-only list of each users' inventory and wish lists when we revise the trading post, so that should help a little.
